Vaccine - did i get away with it?

Had AZ vaccine this morning.

Was/am scared of getting sick as i had covid in December and have heard that you are more likely to feel unwell if you have had it.

Has been a mixed bag with friends - some have been really quite unwell, some mild illness but no one has been symptom free. Almost no one been symptom free.

I suffer with anxiety so have worried all week about getting sick or having reaction.

So far i have had a bit of a sore arm that wouldn't have even registered if i hadnt been hyper aware

Is it too soon to think I'll get lucky?

I think maybe you feel like you’re pulling a sickie because you are?

LEMtheoriginal · 29/03/2021 14:04

Rather glad i pulled a sickie! Feeling pretty rubbish now. I did feel a bit of a fraud - karma!! Gonna take some paracetamol and get some fresh air .

Mine side effects came on about 16 hours after the jab. They were really bad for about 8 hours and I spent an evening feeling very sorry for myself (temperature, shivering, aching), then I went to bed early. Woke up feeling fine the next morning and nothing bar a slightly sore arm since

WithTeaTree · 29/03/2021 15:07

I had a sore arm for about a week. That’s was it, nothing else.

My parents, both in their 60s were the same - sore arm (they had Pfizer).

My grandmother, late 80s had no side effects at all (had Pfizer).

sunshinegirly · 29/03/2021 15:27

I had mine yesterday morning (51), felt fine for a few hours but then got terrible shivers and aches in the evening. Slept badly as my heart was racing on top of the rest and now feel nauseous, weak, tired and my arms killing me. Paracetamol helping a bit. You're not pulling ' a sickie' OP, everyone reacts differently and better you didn't go in and feel ill. My lovely manager has told me to stay in bed all day. Hope we feel better soon Thanks

Had it Thursday afternoon. Sore arm, although much better today. I was a bit headachey on Friday and really tired Friday and Saturday but that's about it.

Older people I know have had no symptoms whatsoever. My age peers seem to have had similar to me.

LEMtheoriginal · 29/03/2021 16:03

Why why why whenever i get sick i never lose my appetite??? I am currently eating all the things.

I dont blame you for taking the day off, if you woke feeling ill you'd have no idea how the day was going to pan out. I think its a good thing you can eat too your body needs fuel to fight the vaccine.

Unfortunatley I've barely been able to sip water today. Had a good nights sleep but woke this morning very nauseous and a splitting headache. Attempted to work (from home, admin type role) but only a did a couple of hours. The sickness is wearing off a bit now but head is still banging, hopefully this is the worst of it now and back to normal overnight. I've had no chills and couldn't even tell you where the injection site on my arm was but the sickness and headache were awful. I can't remember the last time I was off sick so dont feel guilty for doing a very short day.

FYI...

Just a heads up. I read a (reputable) article that suggests that the Pfizer jab is more likely to cause side effects on the second jab. Fairly sure it was on BBC news app. You might wants to keep an eye on your parents and grandmother when they have it, just in case.

Cloudyrainsham · 29/03/2021 22:06

I had no side affects with AZ. A very very slightly tender arm. Husband has his yesterday and also has so far has had no side effects except feeling a bit tired.

helpmemakeit · 29/03/2021 22:12

I had it this morning at 10.30. Making dinner around 6 I started feeling fluey. I was really busy so had forgotten I had had the vaccine. Feel rubbish right now, legs aching.

Knowingitsallover · 29/03/2021 22:44

I had it 10 days ago and apart from a little bruise on my arm and a tiny bit sore no symptoms, my mum had same day in 60's no symptoms and my friend 50's again no symptoms, my auntie in 50's had allergic type rash and another friend unwell for 24 hrs after so just varies

Knowingitsallover · 29/03/2021 22:45

As far aa we know none of us have had covid

ssd · 29/03/2021 22:46

Actually i felt exactly like you @LEMtheoriginal

TeaMeBasil · 30/03/2021 10:19

I had it yesterday morning - fine all morning, headache & tired in the afternoon, even slept for a good hour and the rubbish last night & this morning.

Pushed myself out of bed to move in the hopes that helps get it shifted!

sunshinegirly · 30/03/2021 11:32

I posted yesterday that I felt rough after having the vaccine on Sunday. Today I feel less ill but have the most awful anxiety and a fuzzy head like I can't concentrate properly. Working from home but struggling to get anything done. I really hope this goes away soon, it's horrible!

ssd · 30/03/2021 11:49

I found a walk in the fresh air helped me with the yucky sick feeling. It passes fairly quickly.
