My completely uneventful AZ jab

Mintychocolate · 18/03/2021 07:57

Had this last week. Didn't feel a thing (tiniest needle ever) and apart from a slightly sore arm for a couple of days nothing. I'm not exactly the type to eat just veges and not drink but then I never get the flu either. A complete non event for anyone that wants to hear that precisely nothing happened. Can't wait to not even notice the 2nd one too!

I had my first AZ jab on Saturday. The injection was mildly uncomfortable and the only side effect a slight sore arm.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 19/03/2021 10:55

Can you all say roughly what ages you are?
E.g. 40s 50s 60s or 70s

Husband had his 4 weeks ago. 56. Various health conditions including heart probs and angina.
No side effects whatsoever. Didn't even have a sore arm.

Friend has had it due to her job. 39. No side effects whatsoever.

Niece has had due to her job. 24. No side effects whatsoever.

I'm 50 - had AZ yesterday lunchtime. Arm was a bit sore when I woke up lying on that side but took a couple of paracetamol and feel fine at the moment.

SabrinaTheMiddleAgedBitch · 19/03/2021 11:08

37 - Had mine at 11:30am yesterday. Feeling quite tired and achy, a bit of a fuzzy head (a bit like a hangover) but perfectly able to function normally. Fingers crossed it stays that way

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 19/03/2021 11:31

50s vaccine 5days ago. Didn’t even notice the needle. Some tiredness/spaced out a bit 24 hours later lasted a few hours and went to bed.
Site of injection still a bit sore.
Absolutely no other effects.

Was interesting bbc news article within last few days which said that there is some evidence that side effects are being observed more amongst younger recipients. There was good science behind this which I have now forgotten Grin.
No sticker and upset like a toddler tantrum about this.
But would not have worn it as so many are uncertain and unhappy about when exactly they will get theirs/vaccination passports/families with children or mixed age parents ability to holiday etc ive kept a bit quiet other than with friends/family abkut having mine.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 19/03/2021 14:06

I had my AZ vaccine yesterday. I didn’t even feel the needle go in! I then started with a headache a couple of hours later and by late evening started to have flu like symptoms. By 9pm my temp was 38 but I was shivering. I felt a little better this morning, temp normal, still achy but really really tired.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 19/03/2021 14:07

I’m 43.

murasaki · 19/03/2021 14:46

43- had it 11.30 yesterday. My arm started being a bit achey late afternoon, and was quite sore last night, and I had broken sleep with very manic vivid dreams and sweated a lot. Feel fine today though, so I will take that if that is all I get.

whatisforteamum · 19/03/2021 15:00

TheDogsMother · 19/03/2021 15:09

I didn't get a sticker sadly but I did get some side effects. Headache, very tired, feeling cold, heavy limbs and sore arm. They went pretty quickly though. Late 50s.

Rainbowgravy · 19/03/2021 15:16

Had mine 11:30 yesterday. This morning at 03:30 is woke with a head ache and today feel very tired with a headache. I'm 51. Starting to feel better now.

Rainbowgravy · 19/03/2021 15:16

oh and the aching arm which is to be expected.

BigButtons · 19/03/2021 15:46

Had it at noon yesterday. By midnight as felt more ill than I remember feeling for years. I had electric shock like pains in my limbs which caused whole body convulsions. I had to be physically helped to the toilet during the night
My arm hurts so much I cannot use it at all. My whole body hurts, I feel sick and have a fever. I haven’t left bed. I am 53.

SabrinaTheMiddleAgedBitch · 19/03/2021 15:54

@BigButtons I was curious if anyone else had experienced pain. Had mine yesterday and have leg pain but I’ve just recovered from a nasty trapped nerve in my leg and desperately hoping its just a vaccine side effect and not that flaring up again Sad

Hope you feel better soon Thanks

BigButtons · 19/03/2021 16:01

@SabrinaTheMiddleAgedBitch yes- it did feel very like nerve pain. I recognised the burning shooting feeling from bouts of neuralgia that I get. It went on for about 5 hours. I filled the yellow card thing. It was like spasms. I have never suffered from that before.
I had to crawl around to get to the toilet and helped onto the seat( humiliating just a bit). The last time I have felt that beside myself with pain was when I was last in labour 13 years ago. Thank for the💐

bathsh3ba · 20/03/2021 09:59

I had mine at 8am yesterday morning and so far the only side effects have been a sore arm since yesterday evening and a bit of general achiness last night. I slept well but did have a weirdly vivid waking dream. Hoping this is the extent of it since most side effects seem to kick in within 24 hours. Vaccine itself not painless but not painful.

sierradelta · 20/03/2021 13:56

I had my first AZ jab on Thursday. I immediately felt light-headed and this lasted on and off for 24 hours, along a strange numb sensation in my hands which soon wore off. Was glad that my husband was able to drive me 20 miles home from the vaccination centre. Am 56 and feel fine now.

Gaaaahhhhhhhh · 20/03/2021 14:10

Early 50s. Felt woozy within a couple of hours. Freezing/boiling, shakes, really strong spasm like feelings, nausea, dizziness. About 12 hours of feeling awful then another 24 of feeling a bit rough. Today just tired. Like a short bout of flu.
Slightly sore arm but not as bad as flu jab.
Worth it though.

Violetlavenders · 20/03/2021 14:16

I was a little tired on the evening of my jab, but I was completely fine by the next morning!

BigButtons · 20/03/2021 17:25

I want to bed at 8.30 yesterday evening and slept for 12 hours. Felt better today so went for a short jaunt to the supermarket. That was a mistake. I was exhausted very quickly and had legs with all the strength of melted marshmallows. Was walking like an invalid. Back on the sofa about to sleep again. Arm pain has flared up again and I am itchy all over.

FangsForTheMemory · 20/03/2021 17:30

Had mine today. So far, sore arm and feel a bit yuck. Worst thing of all: I didn't get a sticker (and was embarrassed to ask for one).

Deeply disappointed.

poppycat10 · 20/03/2021 17:49

Shush OP you're not allowed to say it was ok.

My DH had it today and I will report back.

As we're told to give babies Calpol before their jabs, is it worth taking paracetomol before this one? I suggested it to DH but I don't know if he did.
