If countries will only accept vaccinated people, does that mean no families can holiday abroadConfused?

@QuentinInQuarantino

At the moment, it seems the most prohibitive part is the return to the UK. You have to show a -ve test when you arrive PLUS the receipt for the two more you've bought for days 2 and 8 of your 10 day quarantine. Presuming you've had to have another test to enter your destination country that's 4 tests per traveler at a cost of £400 each.

I'm interested to know when this restriction will be lifted, and whether it will only be restricted for those who've had vaccines, one or both etc.

That’s my point entirely.

I wouldn’t be against going abroad but this sounds really faffy and I wouldn’t have the annual leave to quarantine on return.

My dh and I will be fully vaccinated but the dc won’t, so for me it’s the unknown that will stop us going this year.

I do feel for people with family abroad though. Having said that, I’ve only seen my dm twice in a year as she lives 200 miles away and we were tier 3...

@Racoonworld

Anyone else predict a lot of stranded brits abroad when they have gone on holiday and forgot/not realised that they needed to arrange in advance a PCR test before flying back to the UK? I can imagine the news headlines now.
Yes and lots of sad face photos on the daily mail blaming the government and saying they didn’t realise they had to do it and can’t afford to pay it!!

We've booked a summer holiday abroad. I'm keeping everything crossed that we will be able to go. Happy to jump through hoops if necessary but I suspect that things will be quite different by the summer anyway. Countries will be looking towards their tourism income and won't want to lose it. Can't wait to get away for some sun and relaxation!

Oh, and I'm not worried about taking Dd, who will be unvaccinated. The virus is vanishingly unlikely to harm her if she catches it.

I’m off to Egypt at the end of May. I will push the date of the 17 May deadline is extended. But then both myself and my husband will have had both vaccines.

However, Egypt has made no moves to allow the vaccinated in without testing. Currently all travellers over 6 years old must present a negative PCR test. Might be an option for families with children.
