Apologies if this has been done! I’ve just received a notification to isolate for eight days (I went to the supermarket on Saturday and was at work- no other contact!) - my children are at school, perhaps a stupid question but am I allowed to drive to pick up and drop off this week?? I have just emailed work who I guess won’t be thrilled...

What a PITA!!!

It’s extra, unnecessary, close contact. We also shouldn’t be sharing lifts at the moment. School is essential. If you use that argument ‘well they are at school anyway’ then there’s plenty of other things they could be doing that aren’t allowed.

Of course it’s safer for the mum to drive them than to get public transport or a taxi or a lift with another friend. That’s less contact with the general public.

We were in this position in October. We arranged to pick our children up - waited outside the front entrance, masked and they were brought out to us. Kept a good 20 metres away from staff. All was fine.

I’d take them and pick them up op - as long as you stay in the car you are effectively “isolating”.

@VooveyClickwot

This thread is utterly bonkers!

Option 1)
the OP drives her DC to school and comes into contact with NOBODY other than her DC who already live with her and therefore she represents quite literally, a risk no nobody else.

Option 2)
DC should get a lift from another parent, a taxi or bus thus increasing the number of contacts and therefore potential infections.

MN - YOU MUST DO OPTION 2 BECAUSE THE ROOLZ!!!

🤦🏽‍♀️

I know!

It's like the government banned critical thinking alongside visiting your mum 🤦🏼‍♀️
