Just that really, interested if it's opened up yet.
Thanks

Maybe? Our GP has washed their hands of any first vaccines now and is putting out info that they are concentrating on second jabs only.

Luckily we can travel easily to a hub. In fact we like the drive out!

ExpulsoCorona · 17/03/2021 09:49

GP here - we most certainly haven't washed our hands of anything!

If it's not working for you, perhaps try again in a few hours. It may not have gone live for everyone at the same time.

Who can use this service

Just had a look:

“You can only use this service if any of the following apply:

you are aged 50 or over ......”

Yep Smile

@AwkwardSquad

Ok so now the National booking website says 50+, and it STILL won’t let me book! Arrrrgghhhh
Maybe they are currently all booked up or there are a very high number of 55 plus in your area, keep trying as they come up at any time.
TheGoodEnoughWife · 17/03/2021 09:56

@ExpulsoCorona I said 'Our GP' as I am sure not all but relative to us. Here is the text my husband got yesterday. He had already booked at a mass site.

The NHS website doesn't care where you are I don't think? I just put my NHS Number in (I'm 51 as per my post above) and it gave me loads of options of times/dates/locations. I chose Friday and was also able to book my second jab. That was about 10 minutes ago.

I'm delighted.

A few days ago people here were complaining that GPs were not signposting patients to the NHS website as the ages moved down. When we do signpost people we're 'washing our hands of them'. FFS I don't know why we bother.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 17/03/2021 10:18

@ExpulsoCorona You may be great as a GP as may your whole GP practice but surely you can understand not everyone has a good experience with their own GP/GP practice?

You speak for you and I will speak for me.

LIZS · 17/03/2021 10:28

Just received invitation to book via central website as over 50 but already booked via link from gp.

OneMoreForExtra · 17/03/2021 11:24

53, booked for April 1 (Hertfordshire). I've actually had the bug itself so am presumably immune, but with elderly parents living abroad in poor health I don't think I can risk being unable to travel without a vaccine passport, which I'm sure is on the way...

AwkwardSquad · 17/03/2021 18:57

It’s letting me go to the booking page now but all the available locations are miles away and I don’t have a car. So I’ll try again tomorrow to see if any local appointments have been released.

Is it worth emailing GP practice to see if I can get an appointment at the GP- led centre? There’s even a pharmacy five minutes walk away that’s now providing the vaccine.

refusetobeasheep · 17/03/2021 19:04
  1. I booked for 29th March this afternoon.
purplebagladylovesgin · 17/03/2021 19:54

@AwkwardSquad yes, ring your GP. Say you are eligible to book through the NHS booking site but you'd prefer to have it locally. Your GP will get paid if they vaccinate you so it all helps local services.

Teaandscone · 17/03/2021 19:58

Yes, booked today for Sunday.

Babyroobs · 17/03/2021 19:59

Booked yesterday and had jab this evening. I'm 52.

ShakespearesSisters · 17/03/2021 20:01

I was ringing my GP about another issue but the blurb I listened to on hold said over 50's could book. I'm Herefordshire.

Pushkinia · 17/03/2021 20:11

@AwkwardSquad I’ve got the same problem. I don’t drive, so the only place I can go is Centre for Life and there are no appointments. I can’t travel to Stockton, Darlington or Middlesbrough, which are the only options given. I’ve given up for now, try again tomorrow.

AwkwardSquad · 18/03/2021 09:17

Done it!! Managed to get local vaccination centre, had to refresh booking page for over 30 minutes

Clutterbugsmum · 18/03/2021 09:20

I got a text from my GP surgery last night at 4.30pm and have booked mine for tomorrow morning.

HelloMissus · 18/03/2021 09:50

I’m booked for next Tuesday!

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/03/2021 10:54

That is great @AwkwardSquad !

Pushkinia · 18/03/2021 19:40

@AwkwardSquad Well done! No success for me yet - I've been trying on and off since 5 am. If a time pops up and I click on it, it immediately says no longer available. think I'll give up for now, it's just winding me up now.

AwkwardSquad · 18/03/2021 20:34

@Pushkinia Bloody hell. Really hope it comes up with a suitable location for you in the morning. I tried on and off for a while then kept refreshing and clicking constantly for about 30 minutes. Felt like I’d won the lottery when I got both appointments at the local centre, nearly buggered it up by not realising for a few moments that there was one more button to click to confirm!
