Has the lockdown ended?

Has the lockdown ended without me realising? Went for my daily walk today and many groups of up to 10 people having picnics and drinking on the green, must have been 200 people in total. Every bench was in use. Must be the nice weather!

Yep - we will all stay in fecking lockdown forever at this rate.

Just stay in people until you are told you can go out. Otherwise this will never end.

Van Tam is on the TV tonight saying how the decrease in cases has slowed down big time this week.

Why are the British so fecking thick? It's only been a year - obviously not long enough for some idiots to learn.

Dolciedolly · 26/02/2021 18:38

But you are adding to the situation you are moaning at

Good on them !!!

Dolciedolly · 26/02/2021 18:38

@whatohwhattodo

Ffs I don't usually comment on these threads but this has really annoyed me. You know full well lockdown hasnt ended but it just comes across like you want to make an I'm so witty comment. It's been freezing cold and pissing down with rain for ages. Can you really blame people for wanting to get out in the fresh air and sunshine. And yes given they said only last week there is no evidence of any super spreading from the packed beaches last years that everyone moaned about I would imagine the risk is pretty low!

Any yes I do stick to the rules before you accuse me of breaking them as well!

Yey

We can go out, person.

WingingItSince1973 · 26/02/2021 18:42

I love right next to a playing field and park. 1st lockdown was awful, deathly silence. Today with the warm weather I can hear children playing, people chatting etc etc. There's even a man out with his metal detector. I forgot just how much I missed hearing these everyday sounds. 🥰

CheeseJalapenoBread · 26/02/2021 18:45

There’s only one answer to this shameless, flagrant rule breaking - riot police, tear gas and six months in the re-education camps for wrongthink.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 26/02/2021 18:47

Just stay in people until you are told you can go out

We can go out....some of us even go out to work. Shocker eh??

scottish83 · 26/02/2021 18:49

The metaphorical speed limits certainly aren't gone, but we are definitely starting to see more people look at the excellent driving conditions and consider that going 80 on the motorway isn't actually too bad.

I do wonder and suspect that many of these meetings would - in the colder/wetter months - have taken place indoors, in which case the outdoor nature of them can only be a good thing.

Longdistance · 26/02/2021 18:52

The sunshine was out to play today. Going to work I was watching people walking dogs, taking their children to the park and generally soaking up the vitamin D. About time we had some sunshine. At work the crocuses were blooming, the daffodils were sunny.
Good on everyone trying to get some semblance of normality into their lives. As I was watching them they were socially distancing and walking into roads to make space. What's the big deal?

Better that people are breaking the rules by being in a park together (very, very low risk) than leaving the parks empty and sneaking off into each other's houses.

Also better than quietly staying the fuck at home and having a nervous breakdown after a shit year and gruelling winter.

The parks have busied up in recent weeks, partly better weather, partly because they've dried enough to be usable, partly survival mode. Went off to a bigger park earlier this week and it was lovely to see groups so unhealthily playing football/ basketball rather than doing the safe thing of vegetating at home and getting lardy.

Jourdain11 · 26/02/2021 18:56

@BogRollBOGOF I don't think you can stay the fuck at home quietly. You have to STAY THE FUCK AT HOME !!!

Topseyt · 26/02/2021 18:56

@TheMoth

Wtf are people doing sitting out? It's cold!
Not here in the South East it isn't. We've had a lovely day.
Pieceofpurplesky · 26/02/2021 18:57

DS meets up with a friend every day for a socially distanced walk - he said today half his school were out in big groups - all saying there is no point isolating as they are back to school soon

sqirrelfriends · 26/02/2021 18:59

Never started here. Most aren't meeting in groups but almost everyone I speak to has various "bubbles".

My family is past staying at home quietly, we're now just in emotional outburst mode Grin

Chloemol · 26/02/2021 19:08

Well as long as they, and the posters on here you agree with it with their stupid ‘nice to see it’ comments, don’t whinge and moan if the various steps get delayed.

Yes transmission risk is less, but it can and does still happen

I am sick to death of people who dont follow the bloody rules. I am convinced that had people followed rules then we may not have needed so many lockdowns, or the tiers

rawalpindithelabrador · 26/02/2021 19:09

I sat and had a coffee on a bench with a friend today for the first time since March last year. During our conversation the up coming 1st anniversary of my mum's death from covid was discussed, as was my dad's death in November of cancer. So yes, some of us have been affected, some of us will forever be affected. Today I broke the rules and I don't care. Call me selfish if you wish, but I will no longer be told how I should just suck up everything 2020 threw at me for the sake of others.

You are not alone! My father died from Covid, too. I am sorry for your losses. Flowers

I went on a hike with a friend, she's got a lot on her plate right now, we were walking next to each other, OUTSIDE, sat the picnic table and had our lunch together. I'd brought some Gu mousses as a surprise dessert, tears actually came up in her eyes. 'I needed this!'

Sunnydays999 · 26/02/2021 19:09

People have had enough of it . Most of my neighbours will be having bbq tomorrow with the good weather

Figgygal · 26/02/2021 19:12

Seemingly but this country has never properly locked down anyway

Feel a fucking mug staying local and seeing no one these days

Sunbathers on beaches today, building sandcastles
Why do I fucking bother staying home other than the daily exercise?

Have a Biscuit so tomorrow you can sit down and enjoy the weather too

OliveTree75 · 26/02/2021 19:18

When a thread starts with "When I was on my daily walk...." it never ends well.

The suns been shining here and we have been in the park everyday. My DS8 bumped into a school friend in the playground and had alot of fun playing with him! Today i sat on a bench with my baby whilst my two boys played football. A little old lady sat next to me and chatted whilst her dog chased my kids around. It was lovely!
