Are we feeling optimistic that schools WILL start returning from Monday? *MNHQ editing to note that this thread refers to schools in Scotland (WHICH IS FINE BY THE WAY AS THE SCOTS GET THIS ALL THE TIME IN THE OTHER DIRECTION signed a Scottish MNHQer)*

Does anyone know what time the address to MPs is due? I'm assuming it will be live streamed in Parliament before an official announcement later in the afternoon?

Blame it on the lockdown fireside, we've all lost the plot a bit.

Is there an ‘Englandnet’ section for the English folks on here?

dementedpixie · 16/02/2021 15:05

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-56087581 noone else back until at least march 15th unfortunately

Just the general site :)

Hilarious how the OP was told to go to Scotsnet!

She said it would be highly unlikely. It's to be reviewed in a couple of weeks.

@HopeMumsnet

Fwiw I'm really pleased for the Isle of Man, but then I was a big fan of Island At War on ITV. They deserve their early liberty.
Island at War was Guernsey. But they've handled covid really well too - sadly had to go back into lockdown as it snuck back in again but they'd been covid-free for months.

In P3/4 composite classes, it is expected P3 will return to school whilst P4 pupils continue remote learning

😭😭😭😭😭 (you can guess we are P4)...
DumplingsAndStew · 16/02/2021 15:26

@balkanscot

Sad I'm sorry, that is going to be hard to explain to kids why only some of their class is going back

OP posts:
ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 16/02/2021 15:28

Good lord I suppose you complain when there's a "women's history" section "where is the men's history"?

DumplingsAndStew · 16/02/2021 15:39

Sorry?

OP posts:

What about uniforms! Will everyone with kids going be able to get these in time?

DumplingsAndStew · 16/02/2021 15:44

Aren't uniforms still available to purchase the same way they would normally be available at this time of year?

OP posts:
ThatIsNotMyUsername · 16/02/2021 15:45

Will they all be in stock? I’ve always found it an absolute bun fight to get uniform and shoes of left to the last minute.

CallforHecate · 16/02/2021 15:50

This thread title! 😂😂😂

chipsandgin · 16/02/2021 15:54

@DumplingsAndStew these are the stats I mentioned previously - heading in the right direction but sadly probably not much comfort for those involved :(

Delighted for the bairns able to go back to school next week. At least a step in the right direction! And this thread... Fantastic OP 😁

@DumplingsAndStew

Sorry?
Sorry OP I was responding to a poster wondering where "Englishnet" was.

* WHICH IS FINE BY THE WAY AS THE SCOTS GET THIS ALL THE TIME IN THE OTHER DIRECTION*

Just under 1 million children under 16 in Scotland

Over 12 million children under 16 in England

Is it any wonder?

Doesn't mean someone should be able to start a thread about Scottish schools without everyone getting their knickers in a twist.
Chewingle · 16/02/2021 19:05

Absolutely agree

But it does explain the questions and immediate assumptions

MaybesAyeMaybesNo · 16/02/2021 20:18

@balkanscot us too. And our DDs P4 group is her and 3 others, thats it! How her teacher is going to manage teaching the bulk of the class back in school plus those 4 pupils online I have no idea!

the sense of deflation (and desolation) in the local playpark (that was rammed to the gills this afternoon) was palpable.
