Are we feeling optimistic that schools WILL start returning from Monday? *MNHQ editing to note that this thread refers to schools in Scotland (WHICH IS FINE BY THE WAY AS THE SCOTS GET THIS ALL THE TIME IN THE OTHER DIRECTION signed a Scottish MNHQer)*

Does anyone know what time the address to MPs is due? I'm assuming it will be live streamed in Parliament before an official announcement later in the afternoon?

@HopeMumsnet

Dinnae worry, it wasn't complaints! Just people suggesting a clarification might be in order, which is absolutely fair enough as you got everyone's hopes up.
Wouldn't want to get people's hopes up. I know how disappointing that can be.

Hey, Hope, did you know lockdown is over?*

It is incredible isn't it. Our cases were nearer to 1000 per 100,000 back on the 18th Dec when we went into emergency lockdown, so the measures are working really well.

Fwiw I'm really pleased for the Isle of Man, but then I was a big fan of Island At War on ITV. They deserve their early liberty.

You don't make these corrections to threads about England though do you MNHQ?
DumplingsAndStew · 16/02/2021 12:43

@Gwenhwyfar

In fairness, some do. Others say they'll take a look, then ignore it Wink

I'd love to see an example of a thread where MN has intervened to change the title to point out it refers to England not the UK. Got a link MNHQ?

Or one when people are told to go to a specific England only topic if they want to talk about education.

HopeMumsnet · 16/02/2021 12:48

We don't get those threads reported but we promise to always take a look, of course.

Hi guys, We've made a very subtle amendment to the title, hope it's okay?
Aye, subtle that Grin

I didn't realise MNHQ got to declare what's fine with arsey titles. Is this part of the premium package?

Come on, making their moderators sign up to Premium would be really tight.

MNHQ should get to name threads more often.

What is the plan in Scotland?

DumplingsAndStew · 16/02/2021 14:31

No plan published yet, she's still giving a statement on vaccines/lockdown etc. just said at the start that the schools will go ahead.

OP posts:
DumplingsAndStew · 16/02/2021 14:32

It was previously reported that P1 - 3 would return full time, and S4-6 needing access to school to do practical work would return in small numbers (5-8% at any time). Not sure what the time scale / staggering is.

Need to be able to make the trade off of children returning to schools means restrictions for others may go on longer

Preschool, P1, P2, P3, some S4-6, increase in those with ASN, phased return from Monday

Monitor impact, hope to set out second phase in 2 weeks. Think unlikely for further returns before 15th March
