I’m tucked up in bed with post-vaccination side effects. Anyone else had this?

First things first, I’m glad I had the vaccination, I’m not suggesting it’s unwise. I had the AZ jab yesterday afternoon and am now tucked up in bed feeling very grim. Shivery, achy, a bit sick. Anyone else had this?

I’m normally fit and had it because if my job. Apparently this reaction is more common if you’ve had Covid before ( think I did last March) and if you are younger ( yay me, a tender 42).

I’m feeling very sorry for myself as I’m missing being with the children for a bit of non homeschool time. And all my bits ache. I might phone down for an ice lolly soon.....

Sorry you're feeling rubbish. It seems that these side effects are pretty common. Still better than covid though! Well done getting the vaccine.

I'm supposed to have mine on Wednesday and I'm preparing myself for feeling crap on Thursday. I WFH anyway so may have to just work from my bed!

x2boys · 15/02/2021 11:46

I have not had it yet ,but from my very anecdotal evidence of a few Facebook friends ,quite a few have felt a bit rubbish after the Astra Seneca vaccine but it seems to clear up after a day or two.

BananaBrioche · 15/02/2021 11:47

Yes, I had this for around 24 hours. I had Covid in March too. I slept the next day away but felt fine the day after. Duvet day is in order!

giletrouge · 15/02/2021 11:48

Yeah I know a few, all better in about 48 hours. Got mine this afternoon fingers crossed.
Hope you feel better soon!

NeverWillIEver · 15/02/2021 11:51

I'm in my 40's and had Covid in December.

I only had a sore arm and a headache.

Feel better soon !

Treaclepie19 · 15/02/2021 11:52

Hope you feel better soon! Mine is Thursday so I am a little concerned about Friday with two kids to look after!
I'm 30 and as far as I know haven't had covid.

DrunkenKoala · 15/02/2021 11:53

That happened to someone I know. She had the vaccine (AZ) on the Friday afternoon, felt rough and in bed Saturday and Sunday but was fine again Monday when I bumped into her in our local park.

LizzieMacQueen · 15/02/2021 11:55

That's interesting that you get a more severe reaction if you've had Covid before. I'd read on MN that after the 2nd dose side effects are stronger so I guess the scientific explanation is the same. You're immune system is working.

Hope you feel better soon.

x2boys · 15/02/2021 11:56

Again very anecdotal ,my parents both had the Pfizer vaccine a few weeks ago and they both had no side effects.

Chewingle · 15/02/2021 11:56

Sorry you’re ill
It I wish you hadn’t started this thread
Some will jump on it as a reason not to have done

Lynora · 15/02/2021 11:57

There's about a hundred of these threads.

pumpkinpie01 · 15/02/2021 12:04

I have 2 friends who work in care , both in their early 30's that have had the vaccine. They were both very ill for 48 hours - worst headache ever, shaking so much they couldnt sleep, shivering, they were both better within 2-3 days. All the residents in both homes had no side effects.

Keratinsmooth · 15/02/2021 12:12

It won’t last long, big sleep, stay in bed.

OhMsBeliever · 15/02/2021 12:14

My son had the AZ vaccine and had the same symptoms. They didn't last for long, he was better by the following afternoon.

IrmaFayLear · 15/02/2021 12:15

Unfortunately a common side effect of the vaccine is the inability to look at the list of threads in the coronavirus section and see that there are at least six other identical threads. This side effect definitely needs reporting...

Shopaholic100 · 15/02/2021 12:40

Everyone I know who had the AZ vaccination seem to have had the same side effects as you op. The people who had the Pfizer don’t seem to have as many side effects in my experience.

taeglas · 15/02/2021 13:06

I had the AZ jab on Saturday afternoon. I woke up aching all over, shivering and with a headache in the middle of the night. I also felt a bit sick. Thankfully I started to feel better by the evening and I'm back to normal today. I'm in my early fifties and suspect I had Covid early last year.

Felt miserable yesterday but I absolutely would go through this again. Colleague who had Pfizer jab also on Saturday has had side effects.
I had no reaction what so ever to the Flu jab this year.
By the way to those of you pointing out that there are lots of these threads on here already. Well if you are not interested no need for you to read them.
Thanks for posting BoogleMcGroogle. FlowersHope you feel better soon.

My sister, SIL and my daughter all had AZ and all felt shivery, high temp, aches but just lasted a couple of days. My son had Pfizer as did FIL and my parents and they all had no side effects.

Hope you feel better soon.

Becca7910 · 15/02/2021 13:44

Hope you feel better soon. I have mine today, am a weird mix of excited and nervous x

Doodlepip23 · 15/02/2021 13:47

Hope you feel better soon. I felt like I was coming down with flu for 48 hours after my vaccine (Oxford) but totally fine after that.

AutumnOrange · 15/02/2021 13:48

I had the Pfizer and felt crap for 24 hours - couldn’t stay awake and felt very detached. It went as quickly as it came though. I have been testing regularly since last June and not had a positive result.

mrshoho · 15/02/2021 13:51

Yes I had the same but was ok again after 48 hours. Hope you feel better by tomorrow.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 15/02/2021 14:00

But wait, does this mean that your immune system is 'faulty' if you don't react? Worried as I've had my first one yesterday and no side effects 😂
JemimaMuddledUp · 18/02/2021 19:57

How are you feeling now OP?

I had the AZ vaccine on Saturday. I spent Sunday and Monday in bed I was so ill. Headache, nausea, joint pain, muscle aches, dizziness and absolute exhaustion. Felt a bit better on Tuesday, but was still wiped out by simple tasks like trying to cook dinner. Went back to work (from home) yesterday but couldn't concentrate on anything and felt so ill by the afternoon that I took today off work again.

I'm a similar age to you. My mum (in her 70s) and inlaws (in their 80s) all had the AZ vaccine with no side effects apart from a slightly sore arm. But looking at the results of the trials it seems that side effects are more common in people under 65.

Motorina · 18/02/2021 20:01

I had 36 hours of the same after Pfizer. Totally worth it, though.
