I’m tucked up in bed with post-vaccination side effects. Anyone else had this?

First things first, I’m glad I had the vaccination, I’m not suggesting it’s unwise. I had the AZ jab yesterday afternoon and am now tucked up in bed feeling very grim. Shivery, achy, a bit sick. Anyone else had this?

I’m normally fit and had it because if my job. Apparently this reaction is more common if you’ve had Covid before ( think I did last March) and if you are younger ( yay me, a tender 42).

I’m feeling very sorry for myself as I’m missing being with the children for a bit of non homeschool time. And all my bits ache. I might phone down for an ice lolly soon.....

Had jab yesterday, woke up an hour ago with flu type aches & a headache can’t get back to sleep.

Didnt have any of that with Covid itself which I caught last March. On the plus side, unlike Covid, there aren’t any breathing problems thus far!

Literally was a toss of the coin whether I had the vaccine or not as I’m confident in the body’s immune system & I’m ‘only’ 49 & also think it is important that not absolutely everybody gets vaccinated as then we cannot assess natural immunity to Covid.

Any feedback on better/worse side effects for the second jabs yet?

I had the Oxford . Had it late afternoon . The early evening my sore arm began . That carried on a couple of days , but was just a mild throbbing . Paracetamol helped , although it wasn’t too bad . 24 hours after jab I began suffering chills, felt freezing, teeth chattering and slightly raised temperature . This lasted a few hours and since then I have been absolutely fine. Had it a week ago.

Yes, three friends your age also had 'mini covid'.

I had AZ jab and had no effects whatsoever - felt fine. I'm 56 and hadn't had Covid.

I hope everyone is feeling better. And for those of you reading this pre-vaccination and thinking ‘oh gawd’, it is completely worth it. The Calippos helped 🙂

I’ve been completely back to normal for a couple of days now. I did just let my GP know and did a yellow card notification. I’ve advised colleagues due for the jab not to plan too much the next day, but must people seem to have been fine.

@Enidblyton1 yes definitely. That’s good that none of your family had any side effects. My parents both recently had the Pfizer vaccination and neither had any side effects which was a relief. It’ll be quite a while before I’m eligible. I know I’ll be nervous beforehand as any side effects will make me anxious but if I do get any it’ll definitely help knowing that they are fairly common and that for most people they have passed fairly quickly.

DH 46 had the jab last Saturday (spare dose at the end of a session) and spent Sunday on the sofa under a blanket. He was ok on Monday. My Dad 75, was similar.
No major side effects for me, my mum or MIL so we decided it’s a man thing 😂
We’ve all had Oxford AstraZeneca.

Well, my shivering has stopped thankfully. I’ve had a few hours sleep and I’m now wide awake, a bit warm and feel like I have a bit of a hangover, but nothing bad

Thedogshow · 19/02/2021 08:13

Yes, same as others. Very cold and couldn’t stop shaking, high fever, headache, nausea; in bed for 24 hours. Then fatigue and aches for 3 days or so. I’m late 30s and haven’t had covid as far as I know.

sneakysnoopysniper · 20/02/2021 17:42

This is now the third day since I had the AZ jab and am feeling a lot better. My flu symptoms (headache, mild fever and shivers) seem to have vanished and I feel a lot more alert today. Im in my 70s.

I just had the Pfizer injection this afternoon ,when can I expect side affects if I'm going to get them?

lydia2021 · 20/02/2021 19:06

Yeah had all that. Plus high blood pressure the week after. Shivering, teeth chattering. . After AZ. Needed electric blanket on full that night.

AutismAssessor · 20/02/2021 19:08

I had the pz with no side effects at all

vjg13 · 20/02/2021 19:14

Do people generally have a worse reaction to the first AZ one and are ok with the second? And then the opposite with Pfizer, having a worse reaction to the second dose?

Zakidoodles23 · 20/02/2021 20:13

I had the oxford yesterday afternoon and 12 hours later woke up shivering and feeling achey. Paracetamol has helped get through the day with the kids. I'm 36 and heard age can be a factor. I'm very grateful to have had the vaccine. Just glad I didn't have school work to do today!
