Anyone else see this?
I would be really pleased if this happened and we could return to normal life.

OP posts:

Me too, but darednt verbalise it in case I get burned at the stake as some kind of heretic.

DuchessofHastings1 · 14/02/2021 19:20

Your obviously not a regular on this topic Grin

Be prepared for 'not this again' and 'let's get our crystal ball out' comments.

Fact is, no one knows. It should be, but fuck knows.

SonnetForSpring · 14/02/2021 19:20

Where did you see it?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/02/2021 19:21

Also didn't jvt say months ago that non pharmaceutical intervention such as sd and masks would be a matter of personal choice either by or through spring?

NoseinBook3 · 14/02/2021 19:21

I haven’t and I’d love that but that doesn’t fit with the current narrative

Sparklingbrook · 14/02/2021 19:22

This! Speculation klaxon.

Daily Mail.
I know, not a reliable source but it's very promising. The vaccinations are going so well and the hospital rates are falling fast. I think this all in turn will help life get back to normal a lot quicker than planned and also help people get back into jobs.

OP posts:
DuchessofHastings1 · 14/02/2021 19:25

@Sparklingbrook people just want some hope. They're frustrated, fed up..I think they just want people to say "yes it will be" even though no one knows. Sad really Sad

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 14/02/2021 19:25

These topics don’t go down well on MM where the prevailing view seems to be restrictions for ever and zero covid. Risk assessment no longer happens

SmidgenofaPigeon · 14/02/2021 19:27

I would LOVE that OP but yeah, the doonmongers don’t like it.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 14/02/2021 19:27

*DOOMmongers

JaneNorman · 14/02/2021 19:27

I think that’s wishful thinking by the Daily Fail.

I get that. But posters on MN saying 'yes it will be' won't magically make it happen will it?

My 'prevailing view' is wait and see what's announced...
PuzzledObserver · 14/02/2021 19:31

There’s a group of Tory backbenchers calling for all restrictions to be lifted by May.....

While it would be lovely, I’m not holding my breath.

Thewiseoneincognito · 14/02/2021 19:33

Ever stop to think the Daily Mail are pushing this for their own government bashing agenda? Kinda works into their favour to build everyone’s hopes up only to rip them apart when heir predictions don’t come true. Let’s wait and see. I’d love to go on my Easter staycation so I’m in the hopeful category but realistic too.

BarbaraofKent · 14/02/2021 19:34

To be fair, the Daily Mail write whatever they think will get the most clicks in that second. They go between 'Expert says lockdown could last for YEARS' to 'All restrictions to be lifted by MAY' pretty frequently.

DustyMaiden · 14/02/2021 19:34

I think it’s possible, everything is going in the right direction.

PuzzledObserver · 14/02/2021 19:34

Guardian article yesterday

Bagelsandbrie · 14/02/2021 19:35

I really hope so. But I think social distancing will be around for ages yet.

ChairOfThePTA · 14/02/2021 19:36

I hope so. I haven’t been able to go to my 2nd home in the Cotswalds for MONTHS. The flat down by the coast doesn’t count.

Beaniecats · 14/02/2021 19:38

Of course they should be where's the justification to deny our rights and civil liberties?

Muchtoomuchtodo · 14/02/2021 19:39

That sounds a bit like the original ‘we’ll all have a normal Christmas’ claims.

And we all know what happened there..........

Doomsdayiscoming · 14/02/2021 19:41

Yup. May is equivalent to July last year.

We could have rubbed ourselves up against one another last summer (a lot of people did that on the beaches on the south coast) and there were no serious outbreaks until the Autumn.

Summer is a different ball game. Autumn 2021 is the next hurdle.

DuchessofHastings1 · 14/02/2021 19:41

No it won't but it does help them feel better. It makes me feel a little better when I hear people say it will be, although I know really they don't have a clue.
