Had mine Friday, felt ok till this morning, arms swollen up, temp of 38.9 and everything aches. If you had similar, how long did it last?
(I had az)

My dd had the AZ one and felt ill for 48 hours, temp, aches, chills. My sister also had the AZ one and had similar symptoms.
Hope you feel better soon.

Ilikewinter · 06/02/2021 19:38

My friend had AZ and had same symptoms you have, it lasted approx 24hrs.

CyberPixie · 06/02/2021 19:39

I had severe joint pain all over, very stiff muscles I could barely walk and didn't know what to do with myself. Chills, headache, temperature and slight nausea. I also had a numb tingly hand 20 mins after the jab on same side. It lasted 24hrs at its worse then milder for half a day before I felt better. I had the AstraZeneca one.

Rollingfog · 06/02/2021 19:41

My husband had exactly the same, lasted about 2 days

igglepigglegingin · 06/02/2021 19:43

I had AZ 12hrs ago and the chills, fever and muscle aches are much more extreme than I was expecting. Feel dreadful! Hopefully will blow over by tomorrow.

imfeelinit · 06/02/2021 19:52

I had Pfizer on Thursday. Only side effect started on Friday and still there. Severe pain in both legs, muscle cramps in my thighs and calves. I'm working at a vacc centre at the moment, clinical team checked and just advised to report via yellow card. No other side effects so far.

fiveoldteddies · 06/02/2021 19:53

24-36 hours

AgathaX · 06/02/2021 19:54

Had az. Flu like symptoms, felt really rough the first night and slept most of the second day. Lasted about 48 hours.

Ilikewinter · 06/02/2021 21:21

It seems this is a very common side effect of the AZ vaccine, its almost put my friend off having the 2nd vaccine because of how bad they felt and had to take a day off work. I wonder if the 2nd dose will have the same effect.

TammyTwoSwanson · 06/02/2021 21:30

I had az and had flu symptoms like high temperature, chills, nausea, aches all over, dizzy spells. Lasted about 2 days, but the second day wasn't as bad as the first day. Totally fine and normal by day 3.

makingmiracles · 06/02/2021 21:32

Yeah i was just saying the same thing, i hope its not the same for the 2nd dose!! Got chills and shivering now so going to get an early night shortly after dosing up on painkillers!

Mine was Pfizer Smile

Biscuitsneeded · 06/02/2021 21:40

I had Pfizer, just a sore arm and then extreme fatigue the day after, but I didn't feel ill, just desperate to go to bed!

FlatteredRhubardFool · 07/02/2021 04:46

I had mine 13.5hrs ago and started feeling headachy at around 11pm. Woke up cold, chills, stomach ache, backache, feeling sick, yawning, burping and needing to stretch. Stretch?? I mean wtf. I've made myself a hot water bottle less than n hour ago and need to refresh it as I'm so cold. I've vomited several times and feel rough. I can't even keep water down at the moment. I'm trying to be positive as I was so thrilled to get the vaccine but feel too bad at the moment. I had the AZ. Better than covid as cev though. And the side effects won't last long so think positive Flattered, think positive.

Same. I was one of the first people I know to get the AZ vaccine so don't know anyone who has had their second dose yet. I had to take a day off work and I'd not been ill for three years Confused. Not looking forward to dose 2 tbh.
PhilCornwall1 · 07/02/2021 06:10

I had the AZ one yesterday and have had no side effects at all. Don't even feel any tenderness where they whacked it in my arm.

Trinketstogo · 07/02/2021 06:30

I had flu symptoms similar to others for 2 days and then felt ok apart from a heavy arm. Not looking forward to the second dose.

Nellephant · 07/02/2021 06:36

I had been wondering this about the Pfizer. DP had it just over a week ago and is still bad - just super tired and needing to nap all the time (which I am selfishly not happy about as I'm up all night with the baby and need to nap myself..). He has an underlying condition that causes fatigue but had been much better and I'm worried this has caused a relapse Sad hope it gets better soon 🤞
DB and SIL (both healthy) also had the Pfizer and felt bad for a couple of days and a week respectively.

makingmiracles · 07/02/2021 06:38

Well I’ve woken up this morning feeling pretty good so far. I had tramadol in the house from previous surgery so I took those last night and slept really well, albeit sweating my way through the night!

I felt really pleased at first as I’d not felt any side affects other than the backache, it wasn’t until around 5pm yesterday that the temp, aches and chills started, which was 30 hours since I’d had the vaccine.
Surprised it to that long to manifest.

Hopefully that’s the end of it as I’ve got work again this evening!

There is also an interesting study which states "whole body" side effects are present in 50% of those who have previously had Covid compared to 19% of those who haven't contracted the virus.
I had Covid last year and the symptoms are identical (obviously) but it's really knocked me for six. Feel a bit silly as they're only side effects but they're really tough!

QueenPawPaws · 07/02/2021 11:33

I had AZ 10.30am yesterday. Started with a headache about 10pm, then up overnight sweating/shivering, hot and cold and everything aches, struggling to lift my arm
CEV and not had covid
My parents who had covid are fine!

FlatteredRhubardFool · 07/02/2021 11:55

I feel so ill. I can't get warm and keep vomiting. The pain in my head, hips snd knees is horrendous.

HalfDutchGirl · 07/02/2021 11:59

Had AZ last week, took pain killers before bedtime just in case. Felt ok the following day, maybe not 100% but well enough to go about my day normally, that night I felt really chilly and tired but by the following day absolutely fine.

makingmiracles · 07/02/2021 12:00

Ive also read that younger people are more likely to experience the side affects than older people-which anecdotally seems to be the case, all my older fiends and family 70+ have been fine apart from a sore arm and those of us at work who have been ill from it are all the younger ones

Gov info on the AstraZeneca vaccine:
www.gov.uk/government/publications/regulatory-approval-of-covid-19-vaccine-astrazeneca/information-for-uk-recipients-on-covid-19-vaccine-astrazeneca

Hopefully that will reassure you. Do still report any side effects via the yellow card system (even if they are the common ones).
