When will Surrey (Frimley) start on Group 6? How are Surrey doing?

I am in Group 6 (for multiple reasons unfortunately and not at all well at the moment). I would love to know if anyone could give me light at the end of the tunnel as to when they might start the Group 6 rollout here. My mother is not at all well (mental health issues amongst other things) but I can't visit her until a few weeks after I am vaccinated as her anxiety is so high she won't let anyone in or join a bubble (I have tried to access some help for her but she is refusing it which is frustrating.). A nightmare all around but hopefully will get better once we come out of lockdown.

Oh okay. I hadn’t realised you were waiting for DH but assumed it was for yourself.

Well good news.

I heard this morning that some people age 58 could book on the national booking site. As you’ll be an age group person (Group9) it could well be that you are able to get done pretty soon as they do seem to whizzing through and are certainly taking bookings there from Group 7 and possibly even Group 8 already.

Hope this thread helps other people locally who are still waiting.

StCharlotte · 27/02/2021 11:29

@StCharlotte

It would be good if GP surgeries stated on their website what group they were inviting. That way if they stated they were inviting Group 7 and you knew you should be Group 6, you'd know to contact them to clarify.

I agree. We have three practices in our town. The practice websites just direct you to generic NHS information but one of them (not mine) has been brilliant on the local facebook page, giving out info and saying which cohort is being vaccinated at the moment etc etc.

Quoting myself here but local GP practice (in Tandridge) has today said they're about to start inviting Group 7.

Their similar Group 6 announcement was on 18th February so just over a week ago.

Rollergirl11 · 27/02/2021 12:23

I had mine done yesterday. We were hoping that DH would be included in Group 6 because of his asthma but he actually had an appointment with the asthma nurse yesterday independently and she told him he won’t qualify for Group 6 as he doesn’t take oral steroids, only the brown inhaler. However she said that she expects he will be called in the next few weeks anyhow based on his age (40 - 49 age group). She said that our area are ahead in the vaccine roll-out and so to expect to be invited sooner rather than later.

coughingbean · 04/03/2021 11:31

My surgery is based in frimley I'm in group 6 and was just able to book via the online page.
So worth a try for any others!

WaterGarden · 05/03/2021 08:05

Just saw on another thread that not all Group 6s have been called yet.
I know a GP local to me in East Surrey has invited all Group 6s now.
Just wondered where Surrey is at with the age groups. I believe 60+ can book on the national site. Possibly some late 50s. Anyone 50- 60, Group 8 or 9 been called yet in Surrey?

WaterGarden · 05/03/2021 08:13

I'm group 9

LIZS · 05/03/2021 08:15

Not here yet.

WombatChocolate · 05/03/2021 10:00

It seems those age 58-9 can book on the national site now, although the front page has only just be updated to say Group 6 can book there too.

Apparently lots of centres have been telling those asking that all of Group 8 will be on national system in next few days (that’s 55-9) so do check each day, even if it doesn’t state that group in front page. This is the national booking system and not via GPs and Surrey Heartlands.

It seems highly likely that the older parts of group 10 (upper 40s) will be offered it by end of March via national booking system.

WombatChocolate · 05/03/2021 10:02

Oh and yes, Townhill Surgery in Caterham has an excellent info/news page. It’s not my surgery, but looking there shows updates every 3-4 days of where they are up to and will give an indication of where other local areas might be in terms of using GP services for vaccine. They are even prepared to mention what the national site is doing, which most GPs are not mentioning at all as it is separately administered.

WombatChocolate · 05/03/2021 10:03

Water garden....don’t wait for your GP if group 6. Look on the national booking site and you will be able to book there now.

Mindymomo · 05/03/2021 10:10

I am in Woking, Surrey aged 59 and booked mine today , it wouldn’t let me yesterday.

WombatChocolate · 05/03/2021 10:13

Good news Mindy. Is that for one of the mass centres like Epsom?
Glad to hear it’s let you through. Are there appointments for soon or do you have to wait a couple of weeks? I’ve heard that’s what’s happening in some areas, but perhaps they are booking a bit further ahead as they know they will have the supplies from mid March??

FinallyFluid · 05/03/2021 10:27

My DH is in tier 7, and had his last Sunday with second one booked for May at the same time.

I am/was tier 4 and I was jabbed at the end of January, and booked my second one on Tuesday for April using this website.

You just need your NHS number. There is a choice of venues and times.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

We used this to see if they would jab DH, to our surprise and gratefulness it let him go through the process, however a letter arrived the next day inviting him anyway, so he was clearly in the invite system.

I tried it the other day for my second one and up it came with dates.

Mindymomo · 05/03/2021 13:19

@WombatChocolate. No it’s at Superdrug Guildford. My DH had his at Walton on Thames, 2 weeks ago, but apparently they are gearing up for the second doses starting next week.

WaterGarden · 05/03/2021 14:03

@WombatChocolate I'm group 9

BigWoollyJumpers · 05/03/2021 14:45

DH just booked his at Superdrug Guildford in 10 days time. He is 56!

WombatChocolate · 05/03/2021 14:47

Seems people are being added down 56 as we speak. Good stuff.

WaterGarden · 05/03/2021 15:23

It's quite exciting seeing it move down the ages. Seems to be moving quite fast. I'm a widowed parent and don't want to get sick, although my teenagers would cope. Worrying for them though. They are back at school next week so fingers crossed I don't catch it before getting vax protection

TheDogsMother · 05/03/2021 15:24

West Sussex and 55 + are being invited now.

StCharlotte · 05/03/2021 20:04

DH is 57 with no underlying conditions and we've just booked him in using that website. Thank you so much for keeping this thread updated!

I just need to get the call for my second dose now. First was only a fortnight ago.

(This means we might, just might, get to Greece this summer Smile)

vcrees6 · 05/03/2021 20:08

Just booked my mum in 59 yo Tandridge borough, wasn't accepting her NHS number this morning but did just now.

JennyWreny · 05/03/2021 20:12

@FinallyFluid - please can I ask about your second appointment? I was jabbed at the end of January as well, I was wondering is there info on the booking system that says which vaccine the clinic is using so you can make sure you get the same one (Pfizer/Oxford AZ) as you had in Jan?

I can't see yet because it says I'm not eligible - presumably because they haven't got to my age group yet and when they do I hopefully will be able to book my 2nd one.

titchy · 05/03/2021 20:18

Dh, 56, just booked into Epsom racecourse! Not me yet though (few years younger).

WombatChocolate · 05/03/2021 20:28

Jenny, as far as I understand 2nd appointments, it all depends on how you booked the first.

If you booked via the national booking system website or 119 you book both at once. If however you booked first via the GP led services, which are usually a call or text which either has the person book you direct onto a system or gives you a link to the local booking site (not national) you then only book the first and have to wait for that service to contact you again with the 2nd...it usually says at about 11 weeks, but I imagine it might make people a bit anxious. Perhaps it will happen sooner in terms of giving appointment? But I don’t think you will book (at at least 2nd does people who have booked the 2 speapratly) can’t at moment.

Centres know which jabs they will need. They is lots of info on the NHS England Covid pages for professionals such as pharmacies or GP led services about deliveries of van I e particularly from 15 March when 2nd doses ramp up, and some will only get one type some today’s to ensure the right one is there for the people. It is all co-ordinated.

It must be nice to have both booked together though and know when and where the 2nd will be.

JennyWreny · 05/03/2021 23:01

Thanks for explaining that Wombat I think I'll need to wait and see if I get a call. I had my first dose when I took my DDad for his jab, I wasn't booked in but they gave me a dose, as his carer. It was right at the end of the day so I suspect they had some spare doses. They obviously recorded it on my NHS record but I'm not with the same GP so I'm not sure whether it's my GP who will call me for 2nd dose or my Dad's GP as that's where I had the first dose. Slightly less complicated that both GPs have been administering the same vaccine (as far as I can tell) so it shouldn't matter where I have the 2nd dose. Still plenty of time until my 12 weeks will be up anyway!

Also, thanks for pointing out the info on the NHS England Covid pages - it's very interesting stuff.
