When will Surrey (Frimley) start on Group 6? How are Surrey doing?

I am in Group 6 (for multiple reasons unfortunately and not at all well at the moment). I would love to know if anyone could give me light at the end of the tunnel as to when they might start the Group 6 rollout here. My mother is not at all well (mental health issues amongst other things) but I can't visit her until a few weeks after I am vaccinated as her anxiety is so high she won't let anyone in or join a bubble (I have tried to access some help for her but she is refusing it which is frustrating.). A nightmare all around but hopefully will get better once we come out of lockdown.

If anyone hears of a Surrey practice moving on to Group 7, please update. I think Group 6 is a largish group, so once they move onto group 7, I'm hoping they'll get to Group 9 fairly quickly.

ShaunaTheSheep · 19/02/2021 17:54

@WombatChocolate

I wonder if only the Group 6 who also got the shielding letter are being done at the moment.....it might have pushed those who aren't asked to shield down the list.

I'm not shielding, which obviously I'm glad of....would rather wait another week or 2 and not be at greater risk or requested to shield which would be very difficult.

Perhaps there will be updates on the Surrey Heartlands page at the end of Fri as another week comes to a close....currently still only showing as doing over 65s, although we know from here and people we all know that some in Group 6 are being done too.

I don't think that is the case. I am not shielding. No idea how my surgery is allocating though.

I would love to have an update on group 6 here... but there are none on any of the GP's websites or anywhere else. I am also concerned that they have changed the parameters of what a carer means in the Green Book (which also happened for asthmatics) which is frustrating.

WombatChocolate · 22/02/2021 12:52

Just reporting in to say I got an invitation by text this morning. It gave me a link to a local booking service which offered me just one location, which is the local hub which is inna community centre. Applying intents were available from Weds and I booked for Thurs morning.

This is East Surrey.

I'm Group 6 without the shielding letter.

LIZS · 23/02/2021 14:44

Nothing here yet, although our mp has announced they are doing grp 6.

Rollergirl11 · 24/02/2021 08:52

I’ve still not heard anything. I actually emailed Surrey Heartland CCG at the weekend and had a response back yesterday saying that they are working with limited vaccine supply but it will be soon.

SnowdropsCrocuses · 24/02/2021 13:22

Some areas seem to be way ahead and looking to do over 50s by March 7th www.google.com/amp/s/metro.co.uk/2021/02/22/nine-areas-where-all-over-50s-to-get-first-covid-vaccine-by-march-7-14123075/amp/

SnowdropsCrocuses · 24/02/2021 13:23

I read there has been a more limited supply this week. They are needing to stockpile for second doses. Can't remember what the other reasons were

Grimbelina · 24/02/2021 14:19

I have friends (group 6 - some carers) who are getting texts and booking in (Farnham and surrounds) so they must have started here now.

Rollergirl11 · 24/02/2021 14:22

Funnily enough I actually received a text late morning and I’ve booked in for Friday. I’m in North-west Surrey. I wonder if me contacting the CCG made any difference. 🤷‍♀️

LIZS · 24/02/2021 14:43

Still nothing here Sad

BertiesShoes · 24/02/2021 14:51

Me neither @LIZS, even though I know our GP is doing G6 as my 20s DC both had texts last week. I am definitely G6 as Stroke history. No idea how they are picking who get texts first.

I am trying not to get frustrated but wondering if I will be done on age (late 50s) before vulnerability!

A friend who was seriously ill in hospital over Christmas had a letter from her GP but couldn’t book via any system with them, they denied she was eligible. Had to wait for NHS shielding letter then book at a hub.

Whilst the programme is doing amazing things, there are definite blips in the admin!

WombatChocolate · 24/02/2021 15:53

I’ve heard there is a significant lack of supply this week. The figures are below 200,000 each day so far this week for those vaccinated. Matt Hancock says there will be a bigger surge forwards in March to reach the targets.

Doesn’t help if you’re waiting to hear though and sick and tired of going on the bloody websites or about to go back to work.

SnowdropsCrocuses · 24/02/2021 19:44

It would be good if GP surgeries stated on their website what group they were inviting. That way if they stated they were inviting Group 7 and you knew you should be Group 6, you'd know to contact them to clarify. I'm Group 9 but would like to be able to check what we were up to.

SnowdropsCrocuses · 24/02/2021 19:45

A friend in Tandridge borough has a diabetic son (17) who hadn't received a group 6 invitation on Sunday. I've not asked her since.

LIZS · 24/02/2021 19:46

Our surgery and ccg are starting to do so but not frequently. Think ccg releases latest data tomorrow.

SnowdropsCrocuses · 24/02/2021 19:47

They must get a lot of calls from people saying "My friend in a different area is a lower group and has been invited." But if it said on the website where they were up to people would know their surgery was running later so they hadn't been missed.

SnowdropsCrocuses · 24/02/2021 19:50

That's good. Our surgery doesn't. I couldn't see where they were up to on the Heartlands site, although only looked briefly. If you see an update could you post? Is it surgery dependent or same group for all of Heartlands?

WombatChocolate · 24/02/2021 19:55

It’s a shame the Surrey Heartlands stuff isn’t updated more often.
I’ve been offered jab (got text on Monday) and am in East Surrey and in group 6. However the vaccination updates on my local surgery page says they are doing well with over 70s (not updated sine even 8 Feb) and the Surrey Heartlands mentions doing over 65s. There is no mention of Group 6 at all.

People say the NHS national booking site (not for Group 6) says over 64s can book, but actually it’s letting anyone 60+ through now, so their front page isn’t up to date either.

It’s a bit frustrating when the info isn’t there, people are told not to make any contact with anyone about it, and especially for Group 6, some people aren’t even sure if they’re in it or not.

A bit more communication as things move forward would really help.

ShaunaTheSheep · 24/02/2021 21:01

Wow, thank you for the tip. Just booked for 60yo DH on the NHS site Smile

SnowdropsCrocuses · 24/02/2021 21:55

That's good news

SnowdropsCrocuses · 25/02/2021 19:35

A friend's son in group 6 had the vax today. (Tandridge borough)

BertiesShoes · 26/02/2021 08:35

It would be good if GP surgeries stated on their website what group they were inviting. That way if they stated they were inviting Group 7 and you knew you should be Group 6, you'd know to contact them to clarify.

Totally agree!

Our GP clinic is definitely doing 6, my kids (early 20s with medical conditions) are going today. I checked with surgery on Weds, yep I am definitely down as G6 (stroke history) - just be patient.

There is a post of local FB site this morning asking where the GP led clinic is at. Quite a few are saying 6, with some getting texts yesterday and appts later this weekend.

However, a few locals age 60-64 received Gp7 letters yesterday, and have also managed to book into GP clinic rather than a hub, so presumably pushing Gp 6 people like myself downwards. Crazy!

I am guessing the letters are sent out centrally, but then the age groups should have to go to a hub (we have a pharmacy which is a hub, right next our main supermarket so very convenient!)

StCharlotte · 26/02/2021 08:39

Surrey Heartlands and Group 6 (mid 50s diabetic).

Had my first dose last week.

I had AZ. MIL had Pfizer at the same centre a few weeks earlier.

ShaunaTheSheep · 26/02/2021 08:41

But GPS aren’t doing group 7. Group 7 (over 60s) can book direct with NHS. So there is overlap with Group 6 being called.
