When will Surrey (Frimley) start on Group 6? How are Surrey doing?

I am in Group 6 (for multiple reasons unfortunately and not at all well at the moment). I would love to know if anyone could give me light at the end of the tunnel as to when they might start the Group 6 rollout here. My mother is not at all well (mental health issues amongst other things) but I can't visit her until a few weeks after I am vaccinated as her anxiety is so high she won't let anyone in or join a bubble (I have tried to access some help for her but she is refusing it which is frustrating.). A nightmare all around but hopefully will get better once we come out of lockdown.

I’m in East Surrey an Group 6 but haven’t heard anything yet.

Has anyone else in this area been invited yet who is Group 6? What about this thing about being moved I tot he shielding g category? Has anyone experienced that? Thanks - it really helps when people mention their rough area and which group they are in, to get a sense of where it’s all up to.

LIZS · 17/02/2021 10:15

@WombatChocolate not yet. CCG were inviting over 65s last we heard.

WombatChocolate · 17/02/2021 10:22

Thanks. I’d understood over 65s didn’t need to be invited but could simply go on the national booking service and it would be group 6 who would receive invitations direct from the NHS.

Perhaps, East Surrey isn’t quite as far forward with it as some areas, as there are lots of reports of Group 6 being vaccinated across the country now.
Thanks again.

Just to update our surgery in Tandridge borough have said they are contacting group 6 now. I'm in group 9 (50+)

WombatChocolate · 17/02/2021 12:12

Thanks Alpine. Did you see that on a website or how did you find out?

LIZS · 17/02/2021 12:27

Interesting @AlpineSnow , hopefully we will hear soon then.

AlpineSnow · 17/02/2021 12:29

I emailed my surgery about something specific to me and they said it in their reply

Our CCG mentions invitation by letter to over 65s.
WombatChocolate · 17/02/2021 17:40

LIZS if you look on the national booking site, it says anyone over 65 can book there.

I haven't tried it, as I, not in that category, but it is encouraging everyone to book direct and I imagine the system recognises you through your age and links to records when you add address etc. Anyone not eligible and over 65 or meeting the carer category etc just won't get through.

I'd imagine those that haven't yet had a text or letter directly inviting them can also use the national booking site from what it says there.....but of course I might be wrong.

LIZS · 17/02/2021 17:42

Maybe, also does not apply to us. Dh should be group 6. Our CCG update their advice on fb and website regularly.

I’m in North-west Surrey and got my Group 6 booking text today, for an appointment at one of the GP led centres.

Hopefully this means Surrey Heartlands is moving at pace. Good luck.

AlpineSnow · 17/02/2021 19:43

That's good news

SimplyGrateful · 17/02/2021 21:25

DH and I, both Group 6 and in Surrey, received texts to book in for our jabs today. Lots of places available and we are now booked in for Saturday.

Oooh that’s where I am! Were you texted by your GP? Did you go to one of the hubs in Chertsey, Walton or Woking?
ShaunaTheSheep · 18/02/2021 05:48

Text was from NW Surrey Hub, not my own GP, and offered a choice of 3-4 GP led locations, including those you mention.

Hope yours comes soon. I must admit I was surprised when it popped up!

WombatChocolate · 18/02/2021 16:40

Any further news today on Surrey?

HairyMaclary · 18/02/2021 16:42

I’m NE Surrey and group 6, a carer, got the text today. Vaccine on Saturday.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 18/02/2021 17:04

You're local to me then @Rollergirl11and @ShaunaTheSheep. DH had his at Chertsey last week and was very impressed at how efficient it was.

Rollergirl11 · 18/02/2021 17:22

I have to admit to being more than a little obsessed with it all, constantly checking my phone! It’s silly really. ConfusedBlush

NeverEnoughCake2 · 18/02/2021 18:11

DH (has several health problems that qualify him as group 6) got invited last week, vaccinated yesterday.

However, he was also texted today to tell him that he's now in the shielding group, so maybe they've been prioritising the highest risk people in gp 6?

TheByngster · 18/02/2021 18:26

I’m in East Surrey and was called today. I’m in group 9, so I’ve absolutely no idea why I’ve been summoned.

ShaunaTheSheep · 18/02/2021 19:26

I went to Staines today, also super organised. Very thankful
PinkSparklyPussyCat · 18/02/2021 19:36

@ShaunaTheSheep you are very, very local to me in that case!

Grimbelina · 18/02/2021 20:40

I really need to keep my children at home until I have some protection as I have so many different issues that make me vulnerable.

Delighted for everyone who is getting them... just wish I knew when Farnham would move onto Group 6.

WombatChocolate · 19/02/2021 13:22

I wonder if only the Group 6 who also got the shielding letter are being done at the moment.....it might have pushed those who aren't asked to shield down the list.

I'm not shielding, which obviously I'm glad of....would rather wait another week or 2 and not be at greater risk or requested to shield which would be very difficult.

Perhaps there will be updates on the Surrey Heartlands page at the end of Fri as another week comes to a close....currently still only showing as doing over 65s, although we know from here and people we all know that some in Group 6 are being done too.
