I have just seen a tweet with a video of a man calling him a liar, its really pissed me off, even his voice is irritating and to attack a man that has worked so hard over the last 2 years.

Regardless of views on Witty or his advice to the government, the bullying behaviour in the street is not on. What is even more depressing are the tweets under it - showing just how ignorant and awful some people are.

I don't know why people are acting shocked at this video. That sums up a lot of people in this country (and every other country has idiots too). Whitty kept his cool and ignored him, showed just what a patient man he must be.

I was watching it this morning what sort of society do we live in that child thinks its ok to abuse anyone in the street.
Obviously he needs taking down a peg or two I bet his parents are really proud If one of mine had done something like that they would have been grounded for a very long time

I think people are vastly over-reacting. What's the concern here anyway? That his feelings might have been hurt!? I have bigger worries than this nonsense.

It’s absolutely outrageous that some people think it’s acceptable to intimidate and abuse people for doing their job! Each time I have seen Chris Whitty on the television, he seems like a very nice man.

I really admire Chris Whitty. Out of all who attend the briefings, he and Professor Van-Tam, are the only two I really trust.

To be honest, if I had been a bystander on that street I would not have remained a bystander. I'd have knocked that phone out of the little shit's hand and straight down the nearest drain.

I dislike some of the policies that Whitty has helped to effect, however this is absolutely abhorrent behaviour. If that was my child I would be absolutely horrified.

Chris Whitty is an incredibly intelligent, sensible and dignified man. The person abusing him is a knobhead.

Matt Hancock was right to call the abuser pathetic whilst praising Chris Whittys work and advice as a great scientist and calling him an asset to our nation. There’s not really anything else to say.

I hope this person feels ashamed in years to come but he’ll probably always be a bit of a loser so probably not.

Wow. What an absolutely vile, disgusting video that is. How dare that child mock and abuse another person in the street, regardless of who that person is. FWIW, I think CW has done a great job on the face of it.

I’d die with embarrassment if my son spoke and behaved like that. No it’s not to be expected unless you also live in the gutter too. If you think this is ok I feel sorry for your upbringing and any kids you may have.

Whatever the right way to handle this mess Whitty is a hardworking person doing his best. He may be wrong and if so he still doesn't deserve in the face abuse on the street.
