Vaccine link thread?

Directionerforever · 29/01/2021 08:51

I was reading a thread last night that had the link to book vaccines if you were in the right category. I can’t find it now this morning, was there a problem with it? I wanted to book in laws (70’s) this morning but I don’t want to if there is an issue. They’d probably rather catch Covid than go to an ill gotten appointment.
@BlowDryRat did they have a fever after? My late 90s grandparent had the AZ jab and had no side effects (and didn’t take anything to prevent/aid)
My dad had the AZ jab yesterday. He's only 72, but didn't take any pain killers and has had no side effects so far.

ramblingsonthego · 31/01/2021 10:56

I posted this on my Facebook, tagged a lot of ECV and elderly contacts on their. The majority have booked and then shared and then the amount of people who have jumped on and called it a scam or queue jumping has annoyed the hell out of me. They don't seem to understand that you can't book unless eligible. I even went through the booking myself to prove I am not eligible (which would be the worst scam in the world as surely they want more people to fall for it!).

Yes, she had a fever, as did my uncle and my friend's mum.

Just wondering if you then get offered the jab through your GP do you just ignore the letter or contact them to let them know you’ve had it?

My DM 77 had a headache and felt rough for 24 hours after the AZ jab - fortunately felt totally normal the day after.

My auntie 87 had it too and no side effects at all.

lurker101 · 31/01/2021 11:57

@Directionerforever my dad asked the vaccinators this, and was told that because there’s a twin track approach, there might be some overlap and he may receive a GP invite, and in that case just to let his GP surgery know he’s already had it, then they can offer slots to someone else

Directionerforever · 31/01/2021 12:12

Thank you @lurker101

No need to contact your GP to tell them you’ve had it - your patient record gets updated the next day to show you have. Also no real reason to contact them to tell them you’ve got an appointment booked, just ignore the GP invite.
Yamashita40 · 31/01/2021 12:19

My dad and uncle booked using the link and went for their jabs yesterday at Centre for Life. They had no problems whatsoever.

Directionerforever · 31/01/2021 12:31

@Yamashita40 was it immediately obvious where they had to go? I’m taking in laws later as they’re nervous about driving to town and getting parked etc.

OP posts:
Yamashita40 · 31/01/2021 12:40

@Directionerforever I think so. They are both early seventies and still very mobile though so I didn't have your worries. I heard that the long term carpark in Central Station is being offered for free to people going for the vaccine.
He did say there were staff outside to help.

Directionerforever · 31/01/2021 12:54

Both my in laws are early 70’s and mobile etc but lockdown seems to have aged them both so much, made them scared of life almost, I’m hoping this is the first step in getting them back to normal.

Once youve had the jab it will go onto ur medical records, so no need to contact GP etc.

When you book it will tell you to book the one in 12 weeks time too!!!

Skyppy · 31/01/2021 13:37

Went for mine yesterday thanks to this thread. I am CEV.
Just some reassurance for those anxious.
I was worried about the prospect of being among so many people, read stories of poor social distancing and even people being offered cups of tea afterwards so mask removal - what are they thinking of! There is an issue with people who have been shielding since March not having got used to the idea of social distancing. I went out and about in the summer but had to "learn" the side stepping and avoiding.
I double masked - blue first then cloth and had gel in my pocket. Anyway it was a small site in a GP surgery in a town centre. There were yellow coated marshals all over the place, sign posts to car parking on-site and in the pub up the road. It was a one way system and the only person who came closer than 2 meters was the doctor with the vaccine. I was ushered out the other door and told to sit in my car for 15 minutes before driving. The whole thing took under 5 minutes.
I have a sore arm today but nothing else.

JengaJanga · 31/01/2021 13:43

@Skyppy

Same here, Very organised. All masked etc
Had ours yesterday, CEV

Me and Partner had a slight temperature in the night and i feel abit sick and dizzy but nothing major.
MUCH better than covid obviously !
And was told that younger people tend to have side effects, more than older people

Maybe we are al wimps :)

Bring on the 2nd jab!!!

BlowDryRat · 31/01/2021 13:46

Had mine today, all very organised. A few other people I know have also got booked off the back of the original thread. Thanks @gisbons!

catgirl1976 · 31/01/2021 13:48

I got my mum and dad (both eligible just hadn't had the letters yet) vaccinated yesterday as a result of that thread and using the link so I am eternally grateful to the OP.

Don't know why it got pulled as it will only let you book if you are eligible so there is nothing wrong with using it

Bedforme · 31/01/2021 14:21

@gisbons thanks my DF CEV and in age group has appointment tomorrow. Could have even had it today. Better than my DM who had through GP but has no idea when she will get second dose. This is going to make a massive difference to support they can offer to a family member. Smile.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 31/01/2021 15:09

@gisbons thank you, my DF had his vaccine this afternoon. DM went along with him and got offered hers too even though she's just the wrong side of 70.

They're ecstatic, I'm ecstatic 🎉🎉🎉

JengaJanga · 01/02/2021 22:35

Bless @gisbons 💐💐💐💐💐💐

BlowDryRat · 01/02/2021 22:45

I passed the link on to a couple of friends. They both booked and had their first jab today and passed it on to other people they know, who have also had it... Snowball!

CaveMum · 02/02/2021 09:53

Bumping.

I’ve had more success with post I put on my local Facebook group with another 4 people getting themselves/relatives booked in 💪🏻

Wigeon · 02/02/2021 11:48

Great news!

busface999 · 03/02/2021 13:34

My ECV Dad has his jab on Monday thanks to the link Star He still hasn't received his letter so definitely got in a week or two sooner than he would have. We are all thrilled.
