They're all a bit short notice aren't they? We used to find out earlier in the afternoon.

Thanks. Just flicked on.

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2021 17:10

Supply remains the limiting factor for vaccinations, surely opening new venues will not help with that?
I'd have thought getting it out to small areas would be more effective than opening these huge centres.

The end is in sight. Better days lie ahead. I'm struggling with this.

It's always Monday and Thursdays now at 5pm.

I like MH. He's at least clear and gives us information.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 17:19

Stealth the conference with MH was on the rolling band at the bottom of the screen on Sky News this morning.
Not sure many people actually bother with it now.
I just wish they'd shut up about bloody herd immunity.

NickyQ · 25/01/2021 17:20

I like MH too. He’s a bit socially awkward I think, always has the same straight look on his face, saying that though we are in a pandemic so fair enough, but compared to BJ and his band of incompetent bumbling fools, MH isn’t that bad.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 17:20

itsgettingweird I didn't know that. Thanks.

TimeForLunch · 25/01/2021 17:21

MH likes to make sure we don't get too ahead of ourselves. Any tiny bit of good news is massively dampened down with doom.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 17:23

Time I think you mean honesty yeah, rare for a politician not doom.

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2021 17:23

Thank you. I had no idea they were now on a schedule.

It was a member of the public that asked about herd immunity....so obviously they had to respond. It was not brought up by Matt Hancock and co.

IcedPurple · 25/01/2021 17:24

@StealthPolarBear

Yeah, they said that last March.

Better days lie ahead. Sure. But when? This summer? Next year? In 10 years time?

Boris Johnson extends lockdown powers UNTIL JULY with no end in sight to Covid restriction
BORIS JOHNSON has quietly given the go ahead for coronavirus lockdown laws to be extended, it is claimed.

Sad
PuzzledObserver · 25/01/2021 17:26

It’s been announced that 78.7% of over 80’s have now received at least their first dose, which is brilliant. I wonder how the remaining 21.3% break down between got an appointment/yet to be contacted/declined.

Blessex · 25/01/2021 17:27

Damn I missed it. What is the new news?

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 17:27

Calm yes, but they choose the questions to answer - and they seem to have a "herd immunity" one quite a lot as the public don't seem to understand how it doesn't work.

Oblamov fair enough.

itsgettingweird · 25/01/2021 17:28

Don't read into the media scare tactics. Local authorities have no power to enforce closures of businesses without this and its reviewed every 6 months and renewed if needed. This was just the review and renewal for a 6 month period.
52andblue · 25/01/2021 17:28

I read that too @Oblomov20

MH seems half decent compared to the rest.
In over his head, always looks about to cry, and I can't get that creepy video of him standing way too close to the female MP out of my head.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 17:30

Blessex not sure really...same old questions and comments - some about borders, but there doesn't seem to be any additional tightening.

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2021 17:30

That was reassuring. It would be unlikely hat a virus mutation would render the vaccine ineffective - at worst it would reduce protection.
That's what I understood of jenny harries statement.

OP posts:
Blessex · 25/01/2021 17:32

@StealthPolarBear yes and it makes sense. A vaccine won’t go from 100 to 0. We will still have some level of population immunity. Reassuring. Moderna are developing a booster shot for the South Africa variant already.

itsgettingweird · 25/01/2021 17:35

52 I always say he looks close to tears!

Oblomov20 · 25/01/2021 17:37

Weird, I don't see this as scare tactics at all.
I suspect this IS being discussed. I think they'll announce it before long.

cavemums · 25/01/2021 17:37

I can't watch him without thinking of this

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 25/01/2021 17:38

Blessex if you could choose one vaccine at the mo, it would be the Moderna, wouldn't it?
chance would be a fine thing
