Last July it was renewed as well just as the opened everything up. It's just the legislation and powers to force businesses shut. It's renewed every 6 months.

I have nothing but contempt for the government but have a mild soft spot for Matt Hancock. He’s ever so slightly weird in a way I find entertaining. I also think he’s gonna be the fall guy for this shit show when it’s all over.

I thought Hancock was self isolating after his trips to the park and his positive test?
He finished his isolation period last night, hence why he could present the Coronavirus update today. He didn't have a positive test - he was pinged by NHS T&T following being in close contact with someone who'd tested positive.

Isolation is from the date of contact so, as The Guardian reports, the contact must have been on Thursday 14th January. He was isolating until last night. (Clearly whoever he was in contact with did not receive a positive test result until after he had been in the park playing with his sons that weekend).

He has not tested positive recently. He had Covid around the same time as Boris Johnson did last year.

Yeah that's where collective responsibility becomes an issue.

He's often over ruled as HS with what he wants to do for health reasons because PM makes final decisions.

Yet as HS he'll be the fall guy for all health related decisions.

I feel envious of the US right now, in that they have a leader who at least offers hope and a modicum of humanity. Which is a very odd feeling.
