Did you feel crap after either the first or second covid vaccine? (MNHQ please don't move this thread!)

I did post in the Covid section but only had one reply.
I figured there will be much more NHS and other workers in chat that would have had the vaccination.

Plenty of my colleagues have had the first vaccination, only two so far have had the second and both said it wiped them out the second time. Fever, chills etc.

Someone replied on the thread I posted in the covid section to say she felt like that on the first but fine on the second.

My first is on Friday, I just wondered how others fared?

(The flu vaccine made me feel shite for a week. Like walking through mud all day.)

I only wanted to know to prepare.

Nothings going to put me off going - that's for sure!!

Plenty of colleagues (NHS) have reported various symptoms post vaccine, fevers/headaches/N+V/fatigue along with localised site inflammation. Many have reported no symptoms at all.
I felt exhausted for 24hrs post vaccine. 3 days later got a +ve after LFT +ve.
10 months after my first +ve. Lucky me.

I have heard the side effects are worse if you have already had Covid as your immune response kicks in hard.

Have had one dose of Pfizer and felt fairly crappy for the next 24h: headache, flu like, fatigue, muscle aches. Also arm very very sore much worse than flu jab

It only lasted 24h though

I have had COVID previously but more than a month ago.

I know it's anecdotal but a couple of nurse friends who have had their first one have said they have never felt so ill (probably slight exaggeration, who knows).

Equally a relative who is administering the vaccine has had hers, as has her DP and FIL - nothing adverse reported.

I guess it's a case of hope for the best, prepare for the worst ...

Db partner has had it(nhs) and she had to to take the day off work the following day as she felt very ill.Im not it sure which one she had though.

24h of feeling crap seems to be a pretty common experience amongst my colleagues (none of us have managed to get 2 doses. All first dose). Also seems to be mainly people who have already had it.

Having COVID is much worse by a long chalk. I'd just say maybe don't plan anything important the day after you have it.

My elderly (90+!) DPs have had both Pfizer jabs. Neither had any symptoms other than joy and relief

Joking aside, they didn’t have any side effects but equally haven’t been exposed to Covid, so perhaps that’s why more health care professionals are experiencing symptoms than the elderly (if the anecdotal info on this thread is anything to go by)?

If anyone is put off by feeling a tiny bit unwell for 24h then I think that's a bit dim. I didn't really expect to feel bad despite reading the leaflet because you never think it's you of course!

However I would obviously still have had it as Vs having COVID where I felt truly awful for at least 2 weeks it was a very tiny price to pay.

Have had one dose of the Pfizer vaccine, bit of a sore arm for the rest of the day, that’s it.

There is someone on a Facebook thread about vaccines saying loads of older people have died from it. And that it hasn’t had all the testing that it was supposed to. Is there any way to refute this? If enough people don’t have it then the programme won’t work and we’ll have years of quarantine.

Had one dose of Pfizer and felt absolutely fine (NHS worker). I had a very sore arm the following day, but that was it.

@freddiesmoustache at no point did OP come across as as being an anti-vaxxer! They just want to prepare themselves I imagine. Good grief this place is mental sometimes 🙄

NHS worker here, only came out of isolation on Sunday after testing positive for covid. Had first vaccine yesterday and I’ve woken up today feeling exactly the same as I did when I first started feeling ill with what turned out to be covid. Very achy, headache, fever and feeling generally shit. I know it’s not COVID before anyone thinks that is what I’m suggesting, but I don’t feel great. Hoping it won’t last long.

My dh had Covid in March. He had a bad reaction to the vaccine - he felt ill for a couple days. However many of his NHS colleagues had little to no reaction. He’s having the second part today. It’s not fun having a reaction but better than Covid itself.

I had the first vaccine a couple of weeks ago. My arm hurt for a few days, but that was all. I had a headache one night, which could have been a side effect or could have been stress/ exhaustion/ dehydration. Some of my colleagues reported feeling ill the next day, too ill to have come to work but it was their day off, they were better after a day. I have also heard anecdotally that the side effects are worse if you have already had Covid.

22-year-old daughter felt fluey after first Pfizer as did two housemates.

Elderly parent felt v.tired and below par after second Pfizer. So did many of her friends, including two younger GPS.

All would do it again.

I haven’t had, but my friend had the Pfizer and was unwell the next day. He said he felt “very rough” but recovered well the day after that. He said he couldn’t have worked, was on sofa, tired, headache, nausea.
