Did you feel crap after either the first or second covid vaccine? (MNHQ please don't move this thread!)

I did post in the Covid section but only had one reply.
I figured there will be much more NHS and other workers in chat that would have had the vaccination.

Plenty of my colleagues have had the first vaccination, only two so far have had the second and both said it wiped them out the second time. Fever, chills etc.

Someone replied on the thread I posted in the covid section to say she felt like that on the first but fine on the second.

My first is on Friday, I just wondered how others fared?

(The flu vaccine made me feel shite for a week. Like walking through mud all day.)

I had mine 4 days ago and feel pretty rotten tbh. Headache like pounding, runny nose, bit shaky on and off. Did an lft this morning it was negative but I'm considering a pcr tmrw as it's been a few days now

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 21/01/2021 18:52

I had the first on Monday, no symptoms apart from a very very slight feeling of having a small bruise. The feeling of relief after having it has taken me by surprise.

OnlyBejoking · 21/01/2021 18:56

I had 1st dose Pfizer on Monday. I had a sore arm and felt shattered the next day but pretty much back to normal by Wednesday. I'm 52. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Hitsnooze · 21/01/2021 18:59

Had mine on Tuesday morning (pfizer) and just had a sore arm up until this morning otherwise fine. I had a positive antibody result in November but no illness throughout the year so must have been asymptomatic. Colleagues side effects ranged from nothing to tiredness

NecklessMumster · 21/01/2021 19:02

Had the Oxford one last night, feel hot, achey and fatigued but nothing terrible and so glad to have had it.

Ginfordinner · 22/01/2021 11:45

SIL felt very rough after the first dose, and has cancelled her second one. DH can't talk any sense into her Sad

RobinHumphries · 22/01/2021 12:05

Had the Pfizer last Saturday. Sunday had sore arm (still managed to wash the car). Since Monday I have had a faint but very itchy rash so now I’ve got to have my next vaccine in hospital

SirVixofVixHall · 22/01/2021 12:11

Lemonswan worth reporting your reaction, as the puffy eyes are an allergic response, you may not be able to have your second dose.

SirVixofVixHall · 22/01/2021 12:13

My mil had hers last week, she is 85, no problems, slight sore arm but nothing else.

unmarkedbythat · 22/01/2021 12:14

I had the Pfizer last Saturday morning (first dose). Sore arm for 2-3 days and felt very, very tired. Like early pregnancy fatigue but dialled up. I fell asleep on the sofa early evening, DH sent me to bed just after 6pm and I stayed asleep until 11a, the next day. Exhausted all day Sunday but by Monday was just 'a bit tired' and on Tuesday felt back to normal.

TeenagePITA · 22/01/2021 19:37

I had it done today and I asked the nurse what the crack was with elderly people not getting unwell with the vaccine but younger people are?

She said their immune response isn't as robust, which is why they are in a prickle with the virus in the first place.

Makes sense.

SirVixofVixHall

Thanks, I just did the yellow card report. I started trying to do it the other day but I didnt realise how cumbersome the report was and I didn't have time. I managed to persevere today and its now complete.

I have decided already not to have the 2nd. I am not in a risk group, 30 years old and I am convinced this is a PEG antibody reaction.

I might desperately need a PEG based medicine at some stage in the future so I don't want to 'waste' my use on this as the reaction worsens with exposure.

U2HasTheEdge · 22/01/2021 19:43

I had a very painful arm for 24 hours.

Most of my colleagues had the sore arm, a couple felt tired the following day, but mostly had no side effects (except the arm)

mrsed1987 · 22/01/2021 19:51

I've had my first. 3rd day my arm ached. That was it.

My sil has had covid and had a terrible reaction to the vaccine

HatingCovid · 23/01/2021 00:23

I had my jab very recently and was off ill the next day. Never felt so bad. Really unpleasant. but only lasted max 24hrs. Fine now.

I had covid back in march/april

Ginfordinner · 23/01/2021 08:57

Does this mean that the more robust someone's immune system is the more they react to the vaccine @TeenagePITA?
SIL is 70, and was very ill the following day. She is fine now, thank goodness.

fitflopqueen · 23/01/2021 09:16

Had my first Pfizer jab last week at 9am, felt ill next day. Arm very sore, headaches, general achy and shivers. Pretty much back to normal within 48 hrs. I am 56. No COVID history.
In-laws and parents aged 78 to 90 had same jab, same week, no side effects at all.

Didyousaynutella · 23/01/2021 09:20

Was really ill a day after the first Pfizer vaccine for about 24 hours. I think I have had Covid but was ill in the first lock down when there was no testing so don’t know for sure.

Cinderellashoes · 23/01/2021 09:25

I had my first dose of the pfizer vaccine, then did a shift. I felt rough by the end and then horrible the following day. Just SO tired and achy. Those side effects had gone by the following morning!

SuperbGorgonzola · 23/01/2021 09:31

My husband has his vaccine this week and has had no symptoms whatsoever.

Purplewithred · 23/01/2021 09:33

AstraZenica. Felt rough the next day. Zoe Covid Symptom app offered me a test so I had it (wouldn’t have been offered one by the NHS, symptoms didnt hit the thresholds).

Now self isolating - seem to have had asymptomatic covid running when I had the jab.

Ironic - if I hadn’t had the jab and been on the Zoe app I would have been an asymptomatic spreader. Both DH and I are frontline healthcare.

polkadotpixie · 23/01/2021 09:53

I had the Pfizer on Tuesday morning. Felt mildly nauseous and slight headache but barely noticeable that day and had a achey arm and felt exhausted the next day (like early pregnancy tired) but back to normal by Thursday

I'll 100% have my second dose

Lottapianos · 24/01/2021 12:05

I had my jab on Wednesday and still feel below par. Really exhausted and a bit wobbly. Arm was sore until yesterday but much better today. Never had a vaccine reaction thats lasted so long
