What Boris Johnson should not have done is make an unnecessary journey to Bristol today for a Covid vaccination centre. He could have made the same points from Downing Street, or gone to one of the three nearer centres or a local GP practice.

His shirt looked too small for him today as well. As for exercise, the only good thing about him being Prime Minister is that there is not a second (or more) women with whom he is exercising in a bedroom.

@jasjas1973

He has lost a noticeable amount of weight since he realised his being fat was what probably made his Covid worse. And everyone knows he likes bikes and cycling. Hell, even the PM needs a bit of bloody down time hmm even if he is a prick

He is as fat now as he ever was.
Does he like cycling? he had some hair brained Boris bikes thing as a Mayor but that was it.... he says he makes buses as a hobby, not a keep fit Mamil.

The guidelines are stay local, meaning your village, your town or your party of the city you live in.

Yes he has lost weight. Quite a bit.

Boris Bikes still exist and are very popular across London.

@WankPuffins

No , he was specifically answering a specific question that he was asked .

Otherwise I am sure he would not have even bothered .

hamsterchump · 11/01/2021 19:48

No, because legally he or anyone else can leave their home under a "reasonable excuse" as often as they like and go as far as they like. The police should educate themselves on and concern themselves with enforcing the law as written not whatever they imagine it to be. Hopefully Derbyshire police are suitably crestfallen and ashamed after their public climb down.

@theThreeofWeevils

lots of people who have pfizer before Christmas are having second jab. My mum has And mine has not. Ain't anecdata useful?
Mine hasn't either, despite having the first well before xmas. According to the briefing 2/5 have had the second dose. So the majority haven't.
FatCatThinCat · 12/01/2021 08:42

Just seen that he didn't cycle from Downing Street to the Olympic Park, he drove there. Might not be breaking the word of the law but he's definitely pushing its spirit.

Remmy123 · 12/01/2021 08:46

A bike ride out of the area is low risk, come on people 😡

WanderingMilly · 12/01/2021 09:00

Don't be bonkers, of course Boris shouldn't be fined for going on a bike ride. He's exercising, on his own, and isn't socialising as far as I can tell from the reports.

I walk locally, I often walk 5 miles down the country lanes, sometimes 6 miles. Of course it's bloody local, it's in the lanes and footpaths in the lanes round our village. There are bike riders around and about. If I was on a bike it wouldn't take long to do 7 miles, probably 10 miles if I was out for my usual hour. So yes, it's local.

As far as I can see, those who have been moved on by police have either been socialising rather than exercising (sitting on a bench with a friend drinking coffee isn't exercising), or have got in their cars specifically to drive to a beauty spot which gets crowded if everyone descends on it, or else have been fined because they've not cooperated when police have asked them to move on.

That's very different from anyone going out for a bike ride.

FatCatThinCat · 12/01/2021 09:08

or have got in their cars specifically to drive to a beauty spot which gets crowded if everyone descends on it

He got in his car, with his bike in the boot, and specifically drove to a park which he noted was crowded.

@eddiemairswife

I thought I read a few weeks ago that he was given access to Buckingham Palace grounds in order to exercise.
Not 100% sure, but I think it was Lambeth Palace.

You wouldn't expect any other recreational cyclist to cycle out from number 10.

He's put weight on again, he's probably trying to deal with that & possibly be seen to be 'taking exercise' & taking care of his mental health.

The women in Derbyshire have had their fines cancelled and people have been told that if you need to, you can drive to exercise. 7 miles IS local, particularly to exercise in a specific way (cycle in a safe place). If the nearest place you can cold water swim
Is 12 miles, that's acceptable,

Just be sensible.

Love him or loathe him / he's doing a job the vast majority of us wouldn't be fit for.

No, still don't care.
