Hoping the video attaches.

And if they're not allowed to sit on a bench. Tape them off!

The world has gone mad

More histrionics and conspiracy rubbish from the bulgy eyed ravers

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 09/01/2021 22:25

But your not allowed to sit on a bench only out for exercise ? Why do people need to have something taped off and can't follow the guidelines themselves

amicissimma · 09/01/2021 22:39

There is absolutely nothing in either the law nor the guidelines about sitting on benches. No reason not to sit on them and no need to tape them off. There's nothing about having a drink, either.

There are many people in this country who need to sit for a while while exercising and maybe even take in a little sustenance, bearing in mind they can only go out once, so any exercise must be taken in one outing now, two short walks is not allowed.

WhiteChocCheesecakeRocks · 09/01/2021 22:58

I'm Not a conspiracy theorist. It's something that was shared to me. And I was surprised by it.

@amicissimma If you want to talk about the law, there's also nothing in the actual regulatory instrument limiting people to one instance of exercise a day...

Grobagsforever · 09/01/2021 22:59

@amicissimma

According to the law you can take as many walks as you please AND sit on a bench

gooseinflight · 09/01/2021 23:00

I have to sit down for a bit when I am out walking as I am unfit and it has got worse in lockdown.

Againstmachine · 09/01/2021 23:03

It's easy to not fall into conspiracy theorists for the police stop actually doing what they accuse you of.

LegoAndLolDolls · 09/01/2021 23:03

So what exactly is she in trouble for? They was already talking to them before the person with the phone went over. She could have been flashing or smoking a crack pipe to gain there attention?

Theunamedcat · 09/01/2021 23:06

She was seen in town at tescos and then at the beach that apparently meant she broke the rules that say you can leave the house once a day so shop or exercise not both

So they can see that but if your mugged they CBA

Toilenstripes · 09/01/2021 23:07

They’re Instagram types.

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 09/01/2021 23:08

FFS anyone who starts off a video with "I am going straight in - bastards" is looking to make an issue. We don't know the full story of why this woman was being spoken to and recording part of a conversation without full knowledge is quite possibly giving an inaccurate impression. The only people I feel sorry for here is the PCSOs trying to do their jobs

People have been asked to stay at home and I am not sure which bit of that is hard to understand. We are never going to get out of this until they start acting responsibly

hobbyiscodefordogging · 09/01/2021 23:08

The link is not working for me, but there's absolutely no legislation that limits you to only leaving your home once per day.

YouBoughtMeAWall · 09/01/2021 23:08

So you aren’t allowed to exercise and buy your food for the week on the same day? So essentially you aren’t allowed to exercise everyday?

LickEmbysmiling · 09/01/2021 23:09

My crippled df would struggle out to exercise everyday and would have absolutely needed a bench to rest on and time and pace himself.

It's older people who will be denied them Merkel didn't budge elderly off benches.
What gets me is easy targets of what they see. I'd rather have extra police on night shifts watching drug dealers in parks rather than targeting old people sitting on benches.

MrsFogi · 09/01/2021 23:11

I do think it would be interesting to know if more women than men are being "spoken to" by police though. Certainly feels like it.

Cuppaand2biscuits · 09/01/2021 23:11

I'm unfit and overweight, I'm trying to get out moving more in an attempt to tackle this. I was out walking yesterday up some hills that were quite steep. I had to stop and sit down on a bench at the top as I felt very out of breath and light headed.
Elderly people need to keep walking to keep active but some of them also need to break this off with little rests on a bench.
You can be exercising but still need to sit on a bench.

movingonup20 · 09/01/2021 23:13

You are allowed to leave home for a specified list of reasons, sitting on a bench isn't on it BUT if you sit to take a brief rest part way through your exercise that is different from collecting a coffee and a croissant and sitting chatting to a friend!

They don't want to tape off benches because people with limited mobility may need to stop. If we were all sensible the police would not be having to enforce guidelines

YouBoughtMeAWall · 09/01/2021 23:15

I know social media isn’t really anything to go by but what I’ve seen so far indicates far more women are being spoken to than men.
MercyBooth · 09/01/2021 23:21

People cant sit on benches yet a film star can go to a hair salon

Littlewhitedove2 · 09/01/2021 23:36

Seems like there was an oap with the First Lady? Why would he not have been allowed a rest if only sitting with his household? As long as the bench was on away from others?
How on earth are they monitoring who was in Tesco’s and then out later and why is it there business? There is no law against going to Tesco’s and then later going for a walk?

DumplingsAndStew · 09/01/2021 23:42

If you look at this woman's FB, she recently lied her way into an oncology ward so she could film the patients in there, as - in her opinion - there weren't enough of them.

She's another absolute trouble maker, and I wouldn't trust her part-video as far as I could spit on her.

MintyMabel · 10/01/2021 00:33

DD is one of those who needs to rest. I guarantee benches are never available for her to do that, always already taken.

Exemptions are in place for people with disabilities to accommodate their specific needs around exercising.

lljkk · 10/01/2021 00:49

Lady who posted that video is a nutter... I mean, she may have very legit points about police powers in Southampton that day, but her other videos are fruit loop Shock.

cyclingmad · 10/01/2021 01:55

This is ridiculous, at least she was social distancing, think the police should go to supermarkets instead where people really don't
