1.5 million people vaccinated already - brilliant!

They’ve vaccinated 1.5 million people so far and the target is 13.9 million people (the top 4 groups in the attached graphic) by the middle of February, according to ITV. It’ll be a fantastic achievement if they can hit that target.

The government will be providing daily updates on the vaccine rollout progress from Monday 11th January.

It’s such a relief that they’ve got this vaccine and are rolling it out quickly across the country. Considering that it’s only 8th January today, I truly feel like 13.9 million by mid February is achievable.

Come on, let’s do this!

I've got mine this afternoon. Very shocked to get the call, but i'm a carer for my 94yo DGM so should have expected it really.

Absolutely thrilled!

buttery81 · 14/01/2021 14:12

3 million... fantastic!

The tweet says 3 million vaccines administered rather than 3 million people who’ve had it, so I assume some of those 3 million vaccines have gone to people who’ve had the 1st and 2nd jabs? Does anyone know?

No doubt we will find out soon enough!

I love all the pharmacies jumping in saying they want to help, they are known to their communities (and trusted - my Mum loves her's).

That’s a good point, I hadn’t considered that.

Even so I’m pleased with the coverage so far!

This is my favourite thread on MN by far.

So pleased for everyone on here who has had their vaccination (or have a family member who has) and for those posting that they (or family member) have just received their vaccination phone call.

Lovely news.

XingMing · 14/01/2021 14:17

Yes, some of it is people who've had both doses... like my DM, who had the first a few days after it was approved, and her second last week. She lives near a big teaching hospital and is registered at a practice that's regularly involved with test programmes.

Thanks @XingMing. It’s excellent news but I’ll be even more excited when we get to 3 million people - which should be any day now! Grin

Posted this on another thread. Here's the vaccination roll out numbers per region. They're on to 75s and under by me (Birmingham area)

My area has started on over 75's, let's hope the momentum keeps building as it is now. My husband had his second dose this week.

Kendodd · 14/01/2021 14:44

I start volunteering at a mass vaccination site on Monday. I've never been so excited to stand in a car park wearing a high vis in my life. Smile

My Nan had her first jab today, there were many people, it's great to see Smile

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/01/2021 19:21

My uncle and his partner had their first jabs (Oxford) today at one of the mass centres. He said how well organised it was and how friendly and helpful the people were.

buttery81 · 14/01/2021 19:43

The government figures for 14th January are delayed due to a processing issue apparently. Hopefully we will get a double update tomorrow!

76 yo (healthy) Mil had hers today. Sooner than we
Expected. Only got the call last night.

@Kendodd
Best of luck. I have an “interview” on Monday so hopefully not too far behind you.

All of DDs pharmacy staff had the vaccine today. They’re attached to a huge doctors surgery so that’s all the staff there protected.

DD was offered it but didn’t have it (she’s 17).

AllAussieAdventures · 14/01/2021 20:17

I like this thread. It will be wonderful to see the tide start to turn.

EmmanuelleMakro · 14/01/2021 20:19

My over 80 in-laws (South Coast town) have now had both jabs and I am immensely grateful. Meanwhile in France.... My parents not so much. Brexit delivered here big tine.

buttery81 · 14/01/2021 21:08

It’s so heartening reading all the stories on this thread of people who’ve had the vaccine. It feels like it’s really getting out there!
