I’m paranoid!!
My husband has currently got a stuffy head and nose... he’s adamant it’s a cold.
I’ve now got a slightly sore throat and my baby coughed a little after milk.
We’ve no temperature and can still taste and smell, just wondering what you’re first symptoms were if you had it?

Mine started with a cough, husband’s with cold-like symptoms (stuffy nose and sneezing) for a couple of days before the cough started.

Are any of you CEV? Because unless you are, then even if you do have it, you are all overwhelmingly likely to be absolutely fine. I’m 57, obese and diabetic, and I’m overwhelmingly likely to be absolutely fine.

If any of you have one of the 3 classic symptoms (cough, fever, loss of taste or smell) then you can get a test, that’s the only way to be certain. I sort of felt like a fraud when I was booking mine, thought I was being silly. But it turns out I wasn’t.

fedupandfiredup · 03/01/2021 20:20

My first symptoms were body aches, back and shoulder pain and then a temperature. Fingers crossed you haven't got it x

Beansprout30 · 03/01/2021 20:23

Earliest symptoms were itchy throat and nose and sneezing, exactly how I feel with hey fever. Next day full on muscle aches and heavy head. Day four and touch wood nothing worse

Beansprout30 · 03/01/2021 20:24

Forgot to say I got a test even without any of the three main symptoms but I was suspicious as I knew I’d been in close contact with another positive case

RuthW · 03/01/2021 20:24

Adult dd had a sore throat and a mild cold. She tested positive.

wonderstuff · 03/01/2021 20:28

My first symptom was a banging headache, like a migraine coming on, then a couple days later I had a temperature, was sick and then extremely tired and no appetite at all for a week.

weepingwillow22 · 03/01/2021 20:29

Mine started with a headache followed by a sore throat and fatique. I then developed a blocked nose. 10 days in I have still not had any of the 3 nhs symptoms.

Sorehandsandfeet · 03/01/2021 20:29

Sneezing, headache, pain in limbs, slight loss of smell were the very earliest symptoms. The cough came in around day 3/4, same as full loss of smell and distorted taste. Temperature started spiking around day 6/7, the pnuemonia started then. First week like the flu, second week couldn't physically get out of bed!

tisnotthedamnseason · 03/01/2021 20:30

Headache and sore throat. Then fever and cough then dodgy stomach.

Porcupineintherough · 03/01/2021 20:31

Sore throat, super itchy nose and sneezing. I only tested because I started coughing, was convinced it was a head cold.

ilkleymoorbartat · 03/01/2021 20:32

Ok

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 03/01/2021 20:33

Classic cold for about a week but with random headaches. Diarrhoea Xmas day. Lost my sense of taste Boxing Day. Fatigue and muscle aches. Coughing only in the last couple of days.

It’s never been worse than a mild flu and I’ve found symptoms keep coming and going (although my taste hasn’t come back and I can constantly smell something like a gone off lavender pillow...).

Dh has had mainly the same symptoms. Kids have had none so far.

My dad also has it (no contact with us, just coincidentally) and he’s been in bed for a week and his oxygen levels keep dipping. He’s more wheezy than coughing. He’s being monitored at home and has had the paramedics out twice.

Bubnbutton · 03/01/2021 20:34

Ok, thank you.
What’s CEV @PuzzledObserver?
I think I’m more concerned if my 3 month old has it, I’ll be so upset if he has and the fact I haven’t been able to protect him and pray there won’t be any long terms health problems potentially caused by it 😭

OP posts:
WestendVBroadway · 03/01/2021 20:44

@Bubnbutton. CEV isClinically extremely vulnerable.

Bubnbutton · 03/01/2021 20:44

Not good - test booked for 9.30am tomorrow x

OP posts:
Bubnbutton · 03/01/2021 20:45

Thanks @PuzzledObserver - no we aren’t that. Obviously hope it’s negative and we aren’t ill. Like I say I’d be more worried about my baby.

OP posts:
LazyName · 03/01/2021 20:56

Sore throat and headache (then cough). We didn’t get baby tested but he had a slight cough Sad. Two other couples I know have had it and their babies were both ok.
Hopefully you’re all ok.

UpHereForDancing · 03/01/2021 20:57

Placemarking - I just had a test today as came down with a very bad cold.

Bubnbutton · 03/01/2021 21:00

Ut oh, @LazyName sounds like us.
Gosh I hope we don’t have it 😭

OP posts:
Needtheadvice · 03/01/2021 21:03

A constant cough that wouldn't give was the first symptom I had.

Wardrobes123 · 03/01/2021 21:06

Mine started as a bad head cold. I had sneezing. It progressed to be more flu like - aching limbs and then temperatures on day 3. Cough day 5. But it wasn’t a dry cough as described.

  • test received on day seven (3 day delay). Initially I was so convinced it was a cold I didn’t book a test right away.
Marden11302 · 03/01/2021 21:12

I had a mild cold for 3 days, then woke up on the 4th day to no sense of smell or taste, then got tested positive

Bubnbutton · 03/01/2021 21:22

Gosh you’re all scaring me re day 3/4 etc... I really hope we don’t wake up worse tomorrow!

Hearing rumours... is it possible the common cold comes back at positive?

OP posts:
lambo88 · 03/01/2021 21:27

I would just book a test Hun...there's places where I live that u can go to even if u have no symptoms...it does make u paranoid as so many people I no have just had a cold and a bad headache...I went an had a test last week as I had a bad cold (still not over it yet) which ment my taste and sense of smell went as I had bad sinusitis with it but was negative xx

Bubnbutton · 03/01/2021 21:31

@lambo88 I have, 9.30am tomorrow.
It does feel like a cold, headache, sore throat.
No temperature, no coughing etc but now I’m worried these symptoms might not come out till a couple of days down the line. We haven’t come into contact with anyone either so could literally only be off a food delivery we had 😭
Really hope we’re ok!
