I’m paranoid!!
My husband has currently got a stuffy head and nose... he’s adamant it’s a cold.
I’ve now got a slightly sore throat and my baby coughed a little after milk.
We’ve no temperature and can still taste and smell, just wondering what you’re first symptoms were if you had it?

Mine was a tickle in my throat that wouldn't go away. Turned into temperature swings, the smell and taste didn't go until several days in.

My neighbour has it, she started with a temperature and a very sore throat.

skfn2 · 03/01/2021 21:33

I started feeling like I was getting a sore throat plus a seriously bad headache which lasted 2 days. Then a temperature but never more than about 38 and a slight cough. Never lost taste or smell but not really hungry. So far tonsillitis was WAY worse

PuzzledObserver · 03/01/2021 21:37

I’m intrigued to see how many people are mentioning sneezing, runny nose, stuffy nose etc. Certainly early on they were saying you don’t get those with Covid, but it seems plenty of people do.

Do get a test, OP, but please try not to worry - least of all about your baby. Serious outcomes in babies are vanishingly rare. The main thing is to isolate to avoid spreading it. And if you have a test, you will know one way or the other.

Bubnbutton · 03/01/2021 21:37

Oh no, I’m hearing a lot about a sore throat despite it not being an NHS ‘common’ symptom. Haven’t got a good feeling about this..

Scbchl · 03/01/2021 21:37

Sore throat and head. I never developed a cough at all.

flametrees · 03/01/2021 21:38

Loss of sense of taste and smell. Still not back. Was my only symptoms.

Scbchl · 03/01/2021 21:38

Also my sense of smell and taste never disappeared until I started to feel better with the other symptoms.

Littlepond · 03/01/2021 21:39

Brutal headache and severe eye pain - it hurt to look around

PuzzledObserver · 03/01/2021 21:39

Symptoms don’t all come in one go. Sometimes they go away to be replaced by others.

There doesn’t appear to be a common pattern, either. Just because some people got more symptoms on day 4, doesn’t mean that you will.

Bubnbutton · 03/01/2021 21:40

Thank you @PuzzledObserver
Exactly my thoughts, hence my question.

Test booked for tomorrow. Like I say I’ll be so upset if baby has it and I couldn’t protect him from it. Also worry about long term health issues that may arise from it, I will keep you posted once we have results! 🤞🙏 xx

On the flip side, I’ve had cold symptoms
Sore throat, stuffy nose ,no cough to mention) and had a negative test so don’t stress about it. If you have it you can’t stop it now just isolate until results tell you, if it isn’t it then carry on being careful.

Beansprout30 · 03/01/2021 21:42

How long ago did you lose them? Hope it returns soon

When I filled in the track and trace form it had a whole list of other symptoms which it asks, running nose, sore throat etc all listed, not sure why only 3 main ones advise getting tested I think it’s needs updating

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 03/01/2021 21:42

My first symptom was definitely sneezing. Then my temp spiked for a day which was when I got the test. For a few days after that, I was able to potter around at home, just felt a bit under the weather. Then I went to bed and didn’t get up for a week. Mostly sleeping, crushing fatigue, horrible headaches that pain killers didn’t touch, loss of taste and smell. Cough, and lungs a bit “tired”.

Thethingswedoforlove · 03/01/2021 21:42

A cough for me. Cold like symptoms for dd. Spiked temp for other dd. Headache for dh

LoLo2020 · 03/01/2021 21:42

I had a wicked headache and felt sick along with eye pain and sneezing but nothing else...yet!

Beansprout30 · 03/01/2021 21:43

My 4 and 2 year olds so far seem uneffected, try not to worry about baby I think it’s very rare for them to get it or be poorly from it

dottiedaisee · 03/01/2021 21:44

Got my positive result Christmas morning!! Only tested because of work! I hah had severe lower back ache 23/24 Dec which is becoming increasingly common Covid sign. Loss taste and smell Boxing Day and diarrhoea for 2-3 days. No temp, cough or sore throat but full of cold and extremely exhausted. Now day 13 and am back to work Tuesday. Can honestly say that at no time have I felt very unwell...just knackered.

Bubnbutton · 03/01/2021 21:47

Sounds like any symptoms could be it!!

@dottiedaisee I’m already knackered with a 3 months old 😂 I don’t need to be any worse! 😴

Did anyone who tested positive have conjunctivitis? I woke up this morning and my eyes and top of nose all look swollen. Eyes red, watery and itchy. Also a strange nose ache (like a headache but just in my nose. My nostrils feel very odd!)

eternalopt · 03/01/2021 21:50

Bear in mind that, given the thread title, you are obviously getting the majority of answers from people who tested positive. You've done the sensible and right thing and booked a test and only that will tell you so try not to worry. Someone in my sons class had it and then he, me and other son developed colds and coughs. Got three negative results just before Christmas. And if you do test positive, do not think that you haven't protected your son. It's a virus the like of which we have never encountered before and I'm sure you've done your best but there is no way to provide invincibility to our children unfortunately.

Butterbean11 · 03/01/2021 21:53

Tickly throat which turned into a mild, dry cough. Congested nose, and lost sense of smell. Day 5 and only mild cold-like symptoms. Hoping it doesn't get any worse than this.

ArabellaScott · 03/01/2021 21:56

Upset stomach.

hennipenni · 03/01/2021 21:58

Sore throat, headache, achy legs and a dry cough.
Tested yesterday morning and positive result this morning.

Saltblood · 03/01/2021 22:30

11 year old son had a raging headache “it hurts when I stand up” and a fever 38.2 degrees.

No other symptoms, and 2 days after he was normal self, just slightly under the weather, but still up and about.

He got it from Year 7 class at secondary. There are a couple of very vocally active on social media type Covid denier mums in the class (well, their kids are).
