I’m paranoid!!
My husband has currently got a stuffy head and nose... he’s adamant it’s a cold.
I’ve now got a slightly sore throat and my baby coughed a little after milk.
We’ve no temperature and can still taste and smell, just wondering what you’re first symptoms were if you had it?

Like I was getting a cold sore throat stuffy nose headache. Then chills.

HarrietOh · 03/01/2021 22:49

A weird headache, I never usually get them, and a runny nose. A day later my smell went, headache lasted about 6 days. That was it, luckily nowhere near as bad as the flu for me.

JC17fj74 · 03/01/2021 22:55

Following this thread too as I have ordered a test this eve after having a 'throat clearing' type cough which isn't a main symptom and I felt sure it wasn't Covid as it wasn't 'dry and continuous' but I'm really worried this eve and have booked a test.
Now I'm laid in bed convincing myself I've got it and working myself up into a frenzy 😭😭

Bubbletiers · 04/01/2021 08:55

Also following as I await results from a test yesterday. I have a headache and a cold.

Friends have recently been catching it & their symptoms have only been headache and congested noses! One just felt tired.

I’ve taken a test before returning to a childcare related job on Wednesday. No mixing or rule breaking at Xmas or nye.

Hi there
I’ve just had a positive test as a nice start to 2021! Thing is my DH had it about 6 weeks ago and passed it to my daughter - l did not actually catch it from either of them. Well looks like l’ve picked it up now somehow even though l’ve only been near them and the supermarkets all Xmas. As for symptoms well the common factor with all of us has been the raised temperature - it seems to rise quite quickly to over 38 degrees and we all started to feel we are coming down with “something” For us the cough hasn’t been significant at all but heaviness on chest and feeling like you have a head cold has been more noticeable. First 48 hours seem to be the worst but even with these l would still say it feels like some kind of flu. Until my result l still thought it quite likely to be negative as did not feel bad enough if that makes sense. Also for me it felt abdominal and l kept going to the toilet not unlike when lve had heavy colds in the past. Obviously it won’t be the same for everyone as this is a serious disease but hope that helps. I monitor my temperature now and take paracetamol if l want to feel more comfortable. The other useful gadget is a pulse oximeter to check the oxygen saturation in your blood. It is reassuring to know that levels aren’t dropping too much.

Headache, sore throat, tiredness more like a cold than Flu, can still smell and taste, no fever

TakingItOnTheChin · 04/01/2021 10:51

Dont know if I have it yet. But DH got a cold over Xmas and could not taste very well but refused to get a test. Exactly one week after his symptoms started, I started with a banging headache, dizziness, my hearing has dullened, I am having to turn the TV up really loud and asking everyone to repeat themselves and then on Thursday my smell and taste started to go. I now cannot taste or smell ANYTHING at all and I still have the pounding headache. I did have a little temperature spike yesterday. Did a test on Saturday no result through. So I am only guessing that I have corona.

I have no bunged up nose but no smell or taste, so I figure if it walks like a duck.....................

I am in the vulnerable group so am quite scared if I have it.

Also can I ask if you get one strain and then recover, can you still catch the other strains?

I wouldnt mind but i have only left my house twice this year and I have caught it from DH who got it at work.

InvisibleMoonDancer · 04/01/2021 11:58

Dp tested positive yesterday. Started off as very mild cold symptoms then days later he lost his sense of taste and smell.
I'm having a test along with dc today, I'm almost certain mine will be positive also, I'm day 2 of symptoms, mine began with a sore throat, last night my chest started aching and I'm having muscle and joint pain.
It is a worry, fingers crossed for you.

InvisibleMoonDancer · 04/01/2021 12:00

Forgot to mention, we have been isolating apart from a weekly trip to the supermarket so it's very worrying how we have come in to contact with this virus. We don't touch anything at the shops without gloves and always wear masks.
I would most definitely get a yourselves a test.

Lenalalums · 04/01/2021 13:13

@InvisibleMoonDancer like you lm equally confused as to how l managed to pick it up as lm always wiping my shopping baskets and continue to wipe down my shopping once l get home etc. Fingers crossed you will be fine like me as the worry of getting it has been far worse than the actual experience

It's worrying isn't it. We have been very careful but it just goes to show how easily it is spread. I must admit that before it affected us personally I was a little judgmental when I saw the number of cases in the news, I assumed they were mostly people who had been irresponsible during the pandemic. I had my test this evening but as dp is positive and I'm showing symptoms myself I'm not holding out much hope.

Bubnbutton · 05/01/2021 16:57

It’s NEGATIVE!! I’ve never been so relieved. Baby and I feel fine - husband still a iffy but I put that down to typical ‘man flu’ symptoms! 🙄
I hope you are all ok, if anything’s it’s made me even more cautious moving forward!

March with suspected Covid - sore throat and chills and off for a couple of days before developing fever, headache and several more symptoms.

May, positive swab test -sore throat, chills, fatigue from March came back.

MrsBennetsnerves · 05/01/2021 17:12

Ah, posted before seeing your last post - congrats!

Ivytheterrible79 · 05/01/2021 17:13

Back pain around shoulders

SmartyPants0 · 05/01/2021 17:22

We came in contact briefly with someone on boxing day who later tested positive. We had no symptoms but decided to take a test, so lied and said we had a cough. We were shocked when it came back positive.
5 days since testing we continue to be pretty much symptom free. Someone up thread said "you are overwhelmingly likely to be absolutely fine"
Please everyone listen to this advice as it easy to believe everything you see in the press.

Bubnbutton · 05/01/2021 17:45

@MrsBennetsnerves thank you!
@SmartyPants0 I agree, thank you - I think I was more worried about my baby and potential future health problems that this could of caused. (I know they are unlikely to be affected) but he’s so young and precious, I obviously just want to protect him from everything! ❤️ I know I sound over the top but I’ve heard so many things about people still having brain fog or confusion months down the line, would hate it to stop him/delay him learning/developing... xx

Found this thread so interesting. I took a test this morning so awaiting results. Have temp of 37.8 which is very high for me, banging head, so tired, my sense of smell hasn't gone but it's off. Things don't smell right, for example my dp is browning some stewing steak, I thought he was cooking brownies! Hopefully will know soon

Bubnbutton · 24/01/2021 18:46

@trevthecat
Gosh, I hope you are ok. Pleased let us know! I do wish I had some brownies right now though 😉

Restlessness, temperature, extremely thirsty, upset tummy couldn't settle and couldn't sleep. Next day uncontrollable cough.

SeahorseoramI · 24/01/2021 18:53

Sore throat and headache

trevthecat · 24/01/2021 19:06

@u8myufo I've not slept for 3 nights. I've slept today but I've been restless. Have a mild cough now. I did ask dp about brownies but he didn't make any!! Did a home test kit, sent off at 3pm so hopefully will know by Tuesday.

Hope you're ok and the test comes back ok. The first night was absolutely horrible for me the heat and restlessness and not really knowing what was wrong. I also remember my meal that evening tasting extremely bland!
