How are people’s vaccinator job applications going?

We had a previous thread which I’ve lost. So after originally filling out the form to register my interest in Nov with NHSP and being told I’d hear back within 7 days I only got a link to fill out a proper appt a few days ago.

Done the application now and been told to wait to hear if I’m successful or not. I can really only weekends as I have a substantive 9-5 job to do but hopefully they will want all hands on deck and not turn a registered HCP who knows how to wield a needle away!

@TooStressyTooMessy
@MabelMoo23

despite what it says on the SJA website you can apply here to volunteer with them, as I have done . Nothing's happened with my application yet but others upthread are further along

So I passed my interview! Am just waiting for my log in to start the SJA modules but will crack on with the NHS e learning while I wait. My manager in my trust is going to see if I can be escalated to front line staff status when the jabs are given out (current role is non clinical office based) and then I can go out with our community nurses and jab away with them too!

Thank you! Have applied via this as well

TooStressyTooMessy · 10/01/2021 15:47

Oh great, thanks Frazzled Smile.

Great news Chardonnay

cathyandclare · 10/01/2021 16:31

Passed my SJA face to face training today! Got my T-shirt and ready to book shifts.

Just need a login and my ID card ( and for The local big hub to open, the nearest is the Etihad at the moment which is a 1.5 hour drive each way). Exciting times.

cathyandclare · 10/01/2021 16:32

Well done @Chardonnay73 !!

Frazzled2207 · 10/01/2021 16:55

@cathyandclare
you're not going to be driving 90 minutes each way are you? No way could I do that. I'm in Greater Manchester and hoping for an opportunity more locally than the Etihad.

cathyandclare · 10/01/2021 16:57

No way Frazzled, it's just way too far.

Frazzled2207 · 10/01/2021 17:04

good!

FudgeSundae · 10/01/2021 19:49

So my DH applied on SJA and it says the next stage is to select an interview time but the calendar doesn’t seem to show any options. Anyone else had this? Is it just there are no available times right now? Will they appear - do we need to keep checking?
Thanks in advance.

Theredjellybean · 10/01/2021 21:25

So I went to have my own vaccination today.
Chatting to lead clinician, who knows me,
He told me as of next week the primary care networks are getting army teams sent in to all the vaccination hubs being run by primary care so won't need all us volunteers... I know I should be grateful it is getting done but can't help being a tad pissed off I spent so much time getting all the modules done et etc... And now not needed.
Will give myself a talking too

Frazzled2207 · 10/01/2021 22:29

@Theredjellybean
Very frustrating if that’s true
I’ve just (nearly!) applied via nhs jobs (non clinical route) and trying to upload the video and it seems to be taking a very long time- 15 minutes and counting. I really hope it’s not going to crash on me.

Layladylay234 · 11/01/2021 09:11

Hey all. So my references have been requested for the non healthcare vaccinator role. Does anyone know what happens after they receive them? I though I read something about f2f training but maybe I made that up?

goldpendant · 11/01/2021 11:03

@Layladylay234 we are at the same stage now! Mine were requested (and all replied) on Weds last week but I'm still waiting to hear re next steps. It seems to be taking forever but made worse by my impatience!

CaughtInTheCovid · 11/01/2021 12:25

Hello all! I am applying for a HCP role (I am a nurse). I have done the online learning and my reference has just sent it back. Does anyone know what happens next? And do they just contact your current/most recent reference? My previous one has left her role and I have no new contact details so wont respond to the email address I provided (But I didnt put not to contact them as when I ticked this it said it would delay the application...).

Thanks

goldpendant · 11/01/2021 12:37

I've just had my DBS clearance certificate arrive at home.... I can only presume they're intending on employing me but still nothing from NHSP.....

Layladylay234 · 12/01/2021 07:33

@goldpendant I think I'm about a week behind you so will be following your progress closely!

Caughtinthecovid - no idea about references. I know they've contacted both my character references but who knows if they have to wait for all of them of just 2/4. It's all about as clear as mud.

HildegardNightingale · 12/01/2021 12:11

Waiting for my DBS to come back....
Even though I have an enhanced one for my volunteer role (MOJ)
And another enhanced one I got in April which has COVID emergency worker on it.
Still, onwards and upwards ladies. Don’t let the red tape get you down!

That's madness Hildegard. How frustrating.
efc1878 · 12/01/2021 12:14

I’ve been told my area is fully staffed- so no hours yet but that they will contact me when I am needed

HildegardNightingale · 12/01/2021 12:23

@efc1878 they may need you if they go onto 24 hour vaccinating.

Yes I got that impression- they have spoken about weekend/ evening availability.
I did HCA night shifts over the summer (I’m a physio) so I’m happy so do night clinics.

goldpendant · 12/01/2021 13:21

Another day, another holding email.

This time alerting me to the fact that they've simplified the process (grrr). And that there's a new Oxford module to do.

Getting a bit cross now, do more training, no job offer.....

cathyandclare · 12/01/2021 13:55

If it's any consolation-the Oxford module is really straightforward with lots of crossover with the Pfizer one on the test. Can't believe they expect so much work BEFORE the offer.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/01/2021 14:26

If just done my E learning, just need to see if Paediatric life support is acceptable.
