How are people’s vaccinator job applications going?

We had a previous thread which I’ve lost. So after originally filling out the form to register my interest in Nov with NHSP and being told I’d hear back within 7 days I only got a link to fill out a proper appt a few days ago.

Done the application now and been told to wait to hear if I’m successful or not. I can really only weekends as I have a substantive 9-5 job to do but hopefully they will want all hands on deck and not turn a registered HCP who knows how to wield a needle away!

Is anyone waiting for SJA interview? Has your booking button disappeared?

Mine was cancelled last Wednesday. Rebooked to Friday, but never received joining instructions (I did with the previous interview) so I cancelled.

Since then my booking button has disappeared. I did call and they said that this was because there were no slots available. Just worrying that there's a glitch with my account!

Frazzled2207 · 25/01/2021 22:23

@Missypuff30
hmm not sure but I didn't get a slot that easily

meanwhile I am losing the will to live doing the SJA various e-learning stuff. the list of courses doesn't exactly correspond with the ones listed on the email for starters and it really isn't clear. Most frustratingly there are 3 x vaccinator training course programme modules (I'm not even applying to be a vaccinator but they are fairly straightforward), I've done all three but despite coming out of them correctly it will only 'tick' one of the three and refuses to acknowledge that I've done all three so I'm effectively stuck. I bet the drop out rate is pretty high.

whenwillthemadnessend · 25/01/2021 22:25

Not had a response yet other than thanks for applying. By time I get a response every one with be done

loubieloo4 · 25/01/2021 22:34

I finally managed to get out today and vaccinate patients in the community! We had a lovely day.

Oh and all of us that are working from our community hub have been given the vaccine.

Frazzled2207 · 25/01/2021 22:38

@loubieloo4
fantastic! I still haven't heard from my nhsp application but I'm not a hcp so I imagine i'm not high priority (which is fine).

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/01/2021 22:43

I applied (have DBS already), tick all the right boxes, was rejected immediately. I'm assuming they don't need anyone around here. To be fair vaccine roll out around us is already doing 70+ year olds.

cathyandclare · 26/01/2021 11:41

Great news @loubieloo4

I'm still moving at a snail's pace, still waiting for an ID badge and a log in- but I did have an email allocating a region and a supervisor which is promising.

StellaOlivetti · 26/01/2021 13:02

Brilliant news @loubieloo4 and @cathyandclare, gives me some reassurance that things are happening behind the scenes with our applications. Feels like I’m sending emails into an abyss at the moment!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 26/01/2021 15:57

It’s a week since I was emailed with the e learning and on-site fire training date. I have done my e learning and fire training but no contact from any sort of hr to do dbs checks, occupational health or anything like that.

blinkboo · 27/01/2021 07:45

Hello all, so glad to find this thread. I did the online training over Christmas and my referees let me know they'd given references two weeks ago but I've heard nothing since then. Those of you that have gotten further is this normal? I can't see how I can chase it up?

Gadzookery · 27/01/2021 10:05

Frustrating isn't it?! Is this for NHS? Have you had any indication that they're doing the DBS check? Sounds as though I'm in the same situation as you....been waiting about a week now......

HildegardNightingale · 27/01/2021 14:18

I’ve just had an email about my starting date and asking what shifts I can do. Looks like things are moving for me.

cathyandclare · 27/01/2021 15:52

Great news @HildegardNightingale

nyenc · 27/01/2021 15:59

Ooh so glad to have found this thread! I agree the online training was an absolute joke, luckily I'm already NHS so just sent proof of what I'd already done and they accepted that. I wasn't about to spend hours duplicating!

By the end of the application where you pick your trusts I was very shocked to realise my 2 most local trusts weren't on the list. The one closest to me is right across the other side of Manchester. So annoying, I'm mad that they didn't make that clear from the beginning.

I've gone with it for now and given them my sizes for uniform. Just more waiting now I suppose, I'm a student and can't work a proper job due to placements so the money will be a huge help.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 27/01/2021 17:09

I am please to hear they are providing uniform. I was worried everyone else would have a uniform from their other job and I wouldn't know what to wear.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 27/01/2021 17:10

Well done HildegardNightingale getting to that point - there is hope for us all

nyenc · 28/01/2021 01:23

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun mine said it will just be a polo shirt. I love my dress usually for uniform but can't complain!

foodtoorder · 28/01/2021 11:30

Just joining the long line waiting....
Have applied to be a supervisor/vaccinator with my local ccg although I work for a different trust.
Have done online training and made contact to do a face to face induction but haven't had any official "paperwork" through yet. They did say this would take a couple of weeks.
So frustrating....
Neighbouring trusts should be able to share information (with consent) during a pandemic to get things moving quickly.

Missypuff30 · 28/01/2021 13:23

Have emailed SJA again today, as I think the system thinks I've had my interview. As still no option to even try and book an interview again. Did check my DBS and that's just awaiting certificate printing and I know my references have been requested already, so hopefully it will be quick once I've had my interview and training!

Layladylay234 · 28/01/2021 13:37

Anyone feeling really fed up and despondent with the lack of information/jobs? I started this process back in Nov and thought it would time really well with my maternity leave ending (I'm a student so am back studying but needed a few days work a week). Maybe I was presumptuous but I thought there'd defo be something from all the work I've put in. It's now been a week since I completed the final part of the occ. health check and naming the trust and I've heard nothing. Feels like a massive waste of time and I'm gutted I got my hopes up. I wanted to do this job so badly for so many reasons, and it looks like it's just not happening now. Btw,I applied through NHSP

@goldpendant have you had a better outcome with yours yet?

Don't hold your breath, I finished my f2f training 2/3 weeks ago and still waiting. Very frustrating.
Beansbitch · 28/01/2021 13:41

Are you all qualified nurses/doctors etc.... Can auxillary (can't remember new name for the)m nurses do it?

cathyandclare · 28/01/2021 13:43

SJA you don't need to be a medic at all ( I am, but it doesn't seem to have fast-tracked anything) I think they want A levels and a first aid experience.

goldpendant · 28/01/2021 13:53

Hi @Layladylay234 - absolutely nothing at all, so disappointed too. I too wanted to do it for many different reasons, and the amount of time and energy that's been spent on it seems like such a waste.

I think I'll put a pin in it and accept I prob wont get any work Even if they contacted me now I'm not sure Id want to do it. It's the uncertainty of what will happen next month with everything that's doing my head in. So the fact that I'm just waiting to hear about this job too,I think is making it worse. Might be kinder to myself if I just accept that nothing will come of it and move on
