How are people’s vaccinator job applications going?

We had a previous thread which I’ve lost. So after originally filling out the form to register my interest in Nov with NHSP and being told I’d hear back within 7 days I only got a link to fill out a proper appt a few days ago.

Done the application now and been told to wait to hear if I’m successful or not. I can really only weekends as I have a substantive 9-5 job to do but hopefully they will want all hands on deck and not turn a registered HCP who knows how to wield a needle away!

Just wondered whether anyone can help me I’ve been to told to do the e-learning but there are no modules showing to do the e-learning on ELFH. Have I done something wrong?

HildegardNightingale · 22/01/2021 16:57

@user1471462428 who have you applied to? Have they not given you a list of modules to complete?

Is this sja? I posted the same up thread it took a day or two to show up my end
user1471462428 · 22/01/2021 17:38

@HildegardNightingale I’ve applied for the nhs professional one not St. John. There is just nothing showing. I actually booked childcare today so I could get on with it.

@Frazzled2207 not I’ve applied for the nhs one.
I guess I just have to wait but is there anyone I can contact if it doesn’t come in a few days?

Olympicfan · 22/01/2021 19:24

DD has received a questionnaire from NHSP today about clinical risk, compliance and onboarding.

It looks like DD might be getting closer to the f2f training!

goldpendant · 22/01/2021 20:43

@user1471462428 there's a chat function in the NHSP website- you do need to wait a while but they are quite helpful when they respond!

goldpendant · 22/01/2021 20:46

Also, the thing with the ELFH modules is that you need to manually search for them and start them yourself, they won't just be there waiting for you (I did do mine just after Christmas and I know they've changed things so that might not be the case anymore though...)

But if it's still the same, you need to use the search function to find the course and add it to your learning area (I've already forgotten what it's called!)

user1471462428 · 22/01/2021 21:03

@goldpendant oh right! But I don’t even know what I’m studying??? Is there a list somewhere?

goldpendant · 22/01/2021 21:40

@user1471462428 there should have been an attachment in the email they sent you when you were invited to do the training, which lists the courses you need to complete?

Like I said, I know they've simplified fit since I did it so it might have changed- def worth trying the live chat on NHSP

StellaOlivetti · 22/01/2021 23:27

My DBS certificate arrived this morning, which I suppose shows the system is working ... frustratingly slowly though.

Layladylay234 · 23/01/2021 20:23

I've done the final checks now for NHSP so it seems. So hopefully will just get a phonecall next week now. Fingers crossed

My dad went to get vaccinated today and they did mum as well although she's only 74. They said they had 20 spare Oxford Vaccine

goldpendant · 23/01/2021 21:50

Great news @Layladylay234 - let me know how you get on! Il hoping to hear more this week too.

Gadzookery · 24/01/2021 23:45

@user1471462428

Sorry replying late. If you've registered on the NHS e-lfh portal thing then if you go back to your email from the NHSP, then they should have sent 19 or so links in their email re: the training you have to do. If you click on on of those links in the email it should take you directly through to the e-lfh portal and you can view the training. Good luck!

user1471462428 · 25/01/2021 07:37

@Gadzookery thanks so much I’m not very technologically savvy and have found slightly overwhelming!

Olympicfan · 25/01/2021 07:38

DD has reached the pre-deployment stage where they ask what nhs authority you would like to work for, how many hours you can commit to and whether you want regular shifts or to pick your shifts using an app.

DD was expecting to be back at uni in London, but now has been able to change to an nhs authority local to us.

goldpendant · 25/01/2021 08:30

@Olympicfan that's where I'm up to too, and heard from the selected trust on Friday! Fingers crossed your DD can get going soon.

Gadzookery · 25/01/2021 09:15

@user1471462428

you're more than welcome. Not claiming to have any degree of expertise at all but happy for you to DN me if you want to chat through it.

Wincher · 25/01/2021 10:52

I've booked my in-person SJA training for next Sunday at Canary Wharf - exciting! I still have a couple more of the elearning modules to do but I'll get them done before then. I managed to do one that I didn't have to do by mistake (about the vaccination programme in the UK more generally) - oh well!

Frazzled2207 · 25/01/2021 11:21

@Wincher
fab - can you book onto f2f training before finishing the elearning then? I am stuck in the middle of it atm.

Wincher · 25/01/2021 11:24

I think so - at least after you have finished the SJA modules, not the NHS ones. I actually had an email before I had finished the SJA ones saying well done on completing your elearning, now please book the in-person training?! Then I also had an email asking if I could expedite my training and book ASAP because they were opening a new hub in our area and needed people quick.

Frazzled2207 · 25/01/2021 11:31

@Wincher
Ah ok I see. Not had any such email yet but will try and get the online stuff done ASAP. I made it clear that I wasn’t prepared to travel far for either training or actually shifts and it was suggested that I might be waiting a while (although the interviewing person admitted she had no idea what the situation was in my local area)

Let us know how you get on.

cathyandclare · 25/01/2021 11:55

I've just been contacted by NHS Returners to vaccinate. It's a whole load of forms and training again, I don't know if I can face it!!

HildegardNightingale · 25/01/2021 14:05

@cathyandclare don’t worry, you’ll still be twiddling your fingers and toes in a months time. Plenty of time to do all that paperwork and training.
I’ve got an occy health appointment tomorrow to show my BCG scar!! Hoping that’s the last obstacle before I do local induction and ANTT (face to face).

Come on cathyandclare, join the club. You know you want to!

MrBeagles · 25/01/2021 18:08

Sounds like some excellent progress is being made, and some of you may get some shifts soon! Excited to hear the progress.

I submitted my nhs training and long form for refs, dbs etc on Friday afternoon and guess it's a waiting game now. Anyone know the next step? Or where I am now in the process? Those online learning modules nearly finished me off! I have a PhD and have done some stinky forms in my time, but these were unbelievable Wink

Gadzookery · 25/01/2021 19:07

@MrBeagles

I think it took them about 3 -4 days to get in touch with my referees. It was about a week before they launched my DBS check (but they may just have been slow). I am still waiting to hear re: the final outcome.
