Moving country. DH was due to start a new role in Japan in April. We're going in January now.

A few weddings, which has been sad for our friends. And I've missed meeting lots of new babies!

Mirrorxx · 29/11/2020 11:58

Holiday to Zimbabwe for my 30th birthday.
Holiday to Cambodia for our 5th wedding anniversary. And the replacement holiday I booked in Scotland for it.
A holiday to sitges.
A visit to see my grandparents who live 6 hours away.
My mums 60th birthday.
And now I’m expecting to have to cancel 3 breaks at the start of 2021 because we are in a tier 3 area

CoronaIsWatching · 29/11/2020 11:59

Being with my grandfather as he died in hospital.

MadameBlobby · 29/11/2020 12:00

Keeping my job

BluebirdHill · 29/11/2020 12:02

DC who was year 6 when all this started missed out on all the leaving primary school rituals, prom and everything fun, saying proper goodbyes.

JoeCalFuckingZaghe · 29/11/2020 12:03

My new job. Got made redundant. Found a new job. COVID hit. Revoked job when the first lockdown ended.

My wedding.

Batfinklestein · 29/11/2020 12:03

Nothing life threatening.
An exotic holiday and various celebrations for my 40th birthday.
Other European trips away.
A family get together and weekend away for MIL’s 70th.
A get together for my parents Golden wedding.
A good friend’s wedding.

It’s a shame but could be worse. At least we’ve saved some money.

Ironingontheceiling · 29/11/2020 12:04

Normal Life.

FizzyPink · 29/11/2020 12:05

Holidays to Greece, New York, Barcelona, Palma
3 months of work for DP
The ability to buy our first house this year due to above loss of work for DP
Two bonuses of approx £10k each (I’m incredibly grateful to still have a job at all but also sad that the additional money would have been useful for house buying and its performance related so despite this year being the year I’ve worked hardest, because of how our industry has fared I’ll be earning less than any other year)
All the usual Christmas activities I love

Labobo · 29/11/2020 12:09

Silver Wedding Anniversary Party and weekend away
DS's 18th - mega party planned and cancelled
DS's rites of passage stuff like school prom (parents invited) etc
Visiting DS at his uni in his first term
My favourite freelance work gig of the year which takes me to a beautiful place for a month - cancelled
Trip to China with DH
Trip to the opera
Gig by a favourite musician
Christmas with family

Didn't realise it was so much until I wrote it down

Coasterfan · 29/11/2020 12:14

Trip to Energylandia at easter
Two weeks at Port Adventura in July
Trip to Europa Park and Phantasialand in October half term.
Just this month we cancelled two weekends at Alton Towers, a weekend in Blackpool for DD birthday and a weekend at Chessington although we have already done all of those at different points if the year already so I don’t feel too bad.
Coming up we have had our alton towers Santa sleepover and our new year break at butlins cancelled as we live in and these places are also in tier 3.
DD missed a London theatre trip with school and an overnight camping trip as well as her 13th birthday party (well any form of proper celebration, it was this month)
None of the above are too bad though, some of the things we d done already anyway and the rest are rescheduled for next year. We still have jobs and our health so I can’t moan too much. It’s just DDs birthday that bothered me but she took it really well and we have ok and for big belated celebrations in spring.

SimonJT · 29/11/2020 12:15

Glastonbury.

Two holidays, one was to see my cousin who moved abroad in January. We’re very close and we had hoped to see each other once a month (short hop to Belgium).

Playing in the Bingham cup in Ottawa, it has been delayed until 2022. Alongside that I have missed a lot of rugby.

My son has missed time with his Grandma and my cousin. We also both hugely missed our adoption support group in the first lockdown.

BurpsTheDragon · 29/11/2020 12:17

My friend's funeral and the ability to be around people for comfort. We watched it on a live stream. He was only 38.

Holiday to Lisbon, twice.

PintOfBovril · 29/11/2020 12:19

My FILs funeral (was beginning of first lockdown and only immediate family could attend).
Friend's weddings x 2
DS 1st birthday party (obviously we celebrated but it was just us)
Holiday in this country
Holiday in spain
The end of my mat leave being very lonely and quite isolated. And boring.
I know man have lost so much more Sad

Bigpinkslippers · 29/11/2020 12:20

TizzDeSeason · 29/11/2020 12:35

Things I wasn’t able to do this year that were really hard:

Couldn't visit my dad in hospital when he was very ill.
Couldn’t visit my Aunty in hospital before she died.

Other stuff that was just a bit disappointing:

No summer holiday.
No leaving do for a much-loved colleague.
None of the ‘end of year 6’ stuff for my DD - last sports day, leavers assembly etc

Calmandmeasured1 · 29/11/2020 12:40

A friend's funeral (watched it on live stream).
Summer holidays.
Scattering DM's ashes.
