Just come back from local ASDA and its bedlam!!

OP posts:
ginsparkles · 14/11/2020 12:56

I work in retail, and where I am there is most definitely a lock down. I go in each day to manage deliveries and click and collect. The car parks are empty, I see a handful of people walking past each day. I see more people at school drop off than I do in our town through the course of a day. I went to our retail park to collect something, again the car park was quiet and there were a few people picking things up but that was it. Aside from going to work, school and the odd walk, we haven't been anywhere and I know my friends are all doing the same.

grassisjeweled · 14/11/2020 12:57

People are past giving a shit

WhoopsSomethingWentWrong · 14/11/2020 12:58

@MarshaBradyo it’s quite funny really. The OP presumably knows all these things are shut, but has decided that as her local Asda is busy on a Saturday morning there is no lockdown whatsoever.

DianaT1969 · 14/11/2020 13:00

Oohh another thread about this.

PickAChew · 14/11/2020 13:01

And you were part of that, OP.

KitKatastrophe · 14/11/2020 13:02

Oh OP you're so clever and observant. None of the other 10 threads with exactly the same faux surprised title/sentiment are as good as yours!

DianaT1969 · 14/11/2020 13:02

Report them all OP! How dare they do food shopping on a Saturday. And it a supermarket too!

islockdownoveryet · 14/11/2020 13:06

I know I'm shocked to the core a supermarket busy on a Saturday nooo that never happens. Of course unlike the op they don't need to go to the shops today they could've waited until they had no food whatsoever in the house then they can go out . Hmm
Qasd · 14/11/2020 13:11

Supermarkets are allowed to open so no you will not see evidence of lockdown there, perhaps go for a walk around somewhere like soho with all the bars and restaurants shut to see the evidence you are looking for?

Nicknamegoeshere · 14/11/2020 13:14

It is always impossible to shop alone. WITHOUT EXCEPTION. There are many sound reasons for this. They include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Adult men are incapable of shopping alone. They must have another adult with them AT ALL TIMES.
There is no such thing as a Shopping List.
  1. You all have to be physically present to decide what you would like to eat that week.
There is no such thing as a Shopping List.
  1. If you do not drive you must get someone to drive you to the supermarket. There is no such thing as a Shopping List.
  2. You are purchasing items for someone else and you must take that person with you (even if they are vulnerable).
There is no such thing as a Shopping List.
  1. You must go shopping with your partner and/or children because there is nowhere else to go. It's a brilliant morning/afternoon out.
  2. You don't understand / care that there is a global pandemic and that every contact increases risk of spread.

My fiancé is currently at the supermarket. He's shopping alone and has to buy food and essential items for myself, our baby, and his two stepsons. He has a Shopping List. Should I be worried?

@Kitcat47

Says the person who was there too. I'll never understand the logic.
juliainthedeepwater · 14/11/2020 13:15

@WhoopsSomethingWentWrong

Ah, a ‘what lockdown?’ thread. We haven’t had one of those for at least an hour and a half! Try saying ‘what lockdown?’ to the shops, hairdressers, beauticians, bars, restaurants, cafes, museums, soft plays, tourist attractions etc who have had to close their doors again.
100%

I find these threads SO insufferably sanctimonious and narcissistic - so lacking in empathy for the millions of people for whom the current lockdown is radically different to their normal lives.

Also just generally depressed by how many people are so quick to blame other citizens rather than the government for this shitshow. That’s exactly what they want you to do, you know!!

I think I could just about cope with threads about busy supermarkets or which shops are open if they didn't come with the ridiculous faux surprised title. Yes OP there is a lockdown. No OP you didn't miss an announcement saying it is over. Yes OP, some shops which you might think are non‐essential are still open.
Arielsgift · 14/11/2020 13:23

Oh, fuck off.

AgeLikeWine · 14/11/2020 13:44

3, If you do not drive you must get someone to drive you to the supermarket. There is no such thing as a Shopping List.

And the person who drives cannot possibly wait in the car on their own for 20 minutes because they will die of boredom, or something....

WanderlustWitch · 14/11/2020 13:49

This crap again Hmm

IcedPurple · 14/11/2020 15:11

@Kitcat47

Yes, people doing their weekly food shopping on a Saturday morning.

Just like you.

Againstmachine · 14/11/2020 16:03

Person in shop complains others that their are others in shop, at a peak shopping time.

Are people this thick or do they have to work at it.

NullcovoidNovember · 14/11/2020 16:03

There is no lock down. Everyone is breaking rules, mis interpretation of rules, confusing rules... Too many rules.

Everyone is linking up to people how they want.
Through dc and myself we are still exposed to hundreds and hundreds each week.

It's farcical.
Cases started to build in school before October half term and it's happening again.

Funny how there are so many on here who says everyone is breaking rules except them.
Silvergreen · 14/11/2020 16:13

Buying food is one of the only things you can actually do 🤣

WhoopsSomethingWentWrong · 14/11/2020 16:16
Of course there are queues. Fewer shops are open, many have reintroduced limits on the numbers in store, online delivery slots are in short supply again and people need to buy food.
WhoopsSomethingWentWrong · 14/11/2020 16:17

In fact our local Tesco, which I have never queued in before, has now got huge queues as for some reason since lockdown #2 they’ve decided to reduce their opening hours ‘for safety’.

NullcovoidNovember · 14/11/2020 16:19

Maybe I am breaking rules, there are so many and they are so confusing... Who knows?.
