App has told me to self-isolate - but haven't been anywhere?

I've had an alert on the NHS Covid-19 app today telling to self-isolate until Sunday 8 November.

So counting back, that means I was in contact with someone on Sunday 25 Oct who has since tested positive and entered the details of their test in the app.

But I didn't leave the house on Sunday?

Any ideas please anyone?

Probably bollocks if you didn't go out
I'd ignore it

Underactor · 29/10/2020 18:34

I'm guessing it means they tested positive on the Sunday, not necessarily that you saw them then?

You must have been out on Thu/Fri/Sat?

Underactor · 29/10/2020 18:35

Also... If everyone ignores all the notifications and the advice then we are screwed and we might as well delete the app....

Covidaquestion · 29/10/2020 18:35

But self-isolation is 14 days from contact - so it can't be Thursday or Friday or Saturday Confused Totally baffled.

Depends when test and trace got in contact with the positive person as there is often a delay. You may not be getting a full 14 days of isolation if its already been several days since you were in contact

I've been told to self isolate for 11 days from today until Sunday 8th.

Were you out and about at all at that weekend?

dementedpixie · 29/10/2020 18:41

Nobody came to your house?

Covidaquestion · 29/10/2020 18:42

Went shopping on Saturday -but no way was I in contact with anyone else for 15 mins closely, or anything approaching that.

I'll abide by it but it can't possibly be right as like I say, I didn't leave the house on the Sunday and 14 days from then is the Sunday I'm being told to stay in until!

OP posts:
rattlemehearties · 29/10/2020 18:42

It isn't exactly from the day - it's about when you were in contact with the person who later tested positive! Are you saying you actually haven't left the house for weeks?

Covidaquestion · 29/10/2020 18:43

Nope, nobody came to my house. Haven't been out for a meal for more than two weeks.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 29/10/2020 18:44

What type of house do you live in? If a semi, or terrace, or a house close to the road at the front could someone either side have it, or someone loitered for 15mins outside your house and the app have connected you? I wonder if it can tell if two people are right on either side of a wall?

satnighttakeaway · 29/10/2020 18:45

Do you work outside the house?

KylieSmilie · 29/10/2020 18:45

I've had two lots of so called 'phantom message' now which were displayed when I opened my phone and then disappeared. Apparently they are glitches. I've deleted the app now.

Covidaquestion · 29/10/2020 18:46

To be clear, the app works on telling you to isolate for 14 days after being in contact with someone who tests positive. 14 days from Sunday gone is Sunday 8 Nov. I didn't leave the house that day.

I'm sure there was a thread yesterday saying someone had had a message.

They are told to isolate for 2 weeks from contact with the positive person. If OP counts back 2 weeks from the end of the isolation period it takes her to that particular Sunday.

Maybe the positive case input their date of symptoms as a different date? Or maybe they've put the date of the test instead of the date of symptoms? Who knows.

Treesofwood · 29/10/2020 18:47

What about the Monday. Isolate up to and including the Sunday would mean contact on the Monday

JazzTheDog · 29/10/2020 18:47

If Sunday 8th is your last day of isolation, it's someone you had contact with on Monday 26th because that is day 1.

Covidaquestion · 29/10/2020 18:47

So either the self-isolation period is wrong (which shouldn't be possible) or I've been alerted incorrectly.

Going to check with neighbours but it can't be anyone outside the house as the drive is too long.

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 29/10/2020 18:48

OP hasn't had a phantom message. She has a message in the app giving her a date to isolate until

CuteOrangeElephant · 29/10/2020 18:49

This is precisely the reason why I don't have the app.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 29/10/2020 18:49

The contact must have been Saturday 24th as your isolation 3nds at 00.01 Sunday 8th November to allow for the full 14 days.

I did suspect that but the day after contact is counted as day 1 according to the NHS = which makes it Sunday.

It's not = isolation ends on 11.59pm on Sunday 8 November.
