Anyone been notified by NHS App of a positive contact

NotAKaren · 08/10/2020 17:33

Just interested to know if anyone has received notification via the NHS App that they have been in contact with a confirmed case and been advised to isolate. With so many people having downloaded the app and cases on the rise I would expect there to be some people that have been notified via the app by now Hmm

Good question!

LilyE1234 · 08/10/2020 17:48

A colleague of mine did. She got a notification saying to isolate for 10 days as she had been in contact with someone

StatisticalSense · 08/10/2020 18:18

Lots of posters have but instead of following the rules they have instead deleted the app to hide the fact they are meant to be isolating. Unfortunately it would appear that having an account on this site pathologically makes people more selfish whilst claiming that everyone else are the selfish ones.

Lemons1571 · 08/10/2020 18:38

I don’t trust the app to not retain some information somehow that you should be isolating. Anyone know if deleting the app really does clear this information?

LimaFoxtrotCharlie · 08/10/2020 18:46

My DS and his friend have been told by the app to isolate. They’re both 22 and they are both isolating as instructed.
Surely it would be monumentally selfish to delete the app and carry on going out?

borntohula · 08/10/2020 18:48

I've had two notifications telling me I've been near Covid but not advised to isolate. Said notification disappears when you click on it. Apparently they are working to fix this. If I was told to isolate I would try and get a test.

LindaEllen · 08/10/2020 18:48

I got a weird notification the other morning saying I'd had 'potential exposure' and that the app would work out my 'estimated exposure' as soon as possible.

I've heard nothing since.

Disorganisedfish · 08/10/2020 18:49

We have had it our work place and have pretty much all been contacted but at different points.

itsgettingweird · 08/10/2020 18:52

Not yet.

I have the contact tracing switched off most of the time.

Not because I'm selfish but because I go to work and ds swimming club and they have their own systems!

I always use the venue check in.

I switch in contact tracing if generally out and about.

I would isolate if asked or advised to.

The sooner everyone complies the sooner we can get this under control and our lives back to more normality.

Hmmph · 08/10/2020 19:02

Is anyone else getting a shield popping up at the top of the phone? When I click on it, it says something like NHS Covid-19 but disappears. Usually it disappears without me clicking on it.

Does anyone know what this is? I have tried googling it but not got anywhere.

chipshopElvis · 08/10/2020 19:02

Husbands colleague has and they are isolating.

fairynick · 08/10/2020 19:07

I’m free from midnight of my nine day isolation Smile

Parker231 · 08/10/2020 19:11

Not a beep from mine. Is on now as we are out in a local wine bar having dinner. Lots of people I know are refusing to use it as they can’t afford not to work.

WitsEnding · 08/10/2020 19:18

I had the weird message about potential exposure but it disappeared before I could get a good look at it. I don’t think I’ve been within 2m of anyone for 15 minutes in the last 10 days, other than DM and FWB who don’t have the app.

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 08/10/2020 19:21

Question - if you have the app and you do receive a dreaded notification... won't you get fined if you don't self isolate for 2 weeks??

Lumene · 08/10/2020 19:25

Surely it would be monumentally selfish to delete the app and carry on going out?

Would it be any more selfish than not downloading it? People might at least be more careful.

How would this be monitored?
Borderscotch · 08/10/2020 19:33

The odd disappearing notifications are explained here.

If the track and trace op has told you to self isolate, you still can't go out, even if you test negative l. It's all so bloody complicated that people don't understand what they're supposed to be doing and are going out whilst still infectious.

NotAKaren · 08/10/2020 19:45

@Lumene Not can download it, lots of older i phones are not compatible.

Yes monumentally selfish to ignore a notification to isolate but as far I know it does not store your data so they would not be able to track you via the app. How is anyone to know who's had a message to isolate Confused

OP posts:
thisusernameismine · 08/10/2020 19:47

Yes but heard it first from the person who infected me.

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 08/10/2020 20:04

Because I'm pretty sure if you're out and about and your phone is out and about with you... they'll know! Call me paranoid!

NotAKaren · 08/10/2020 20:14

Not according to this

Not sure it’s ‘selfish’ to have an incompatible phone.

Lumene · 08/10/2020 20:19

Agreed.
