Anyone been notified by NHS App of a positive contact

Just interested to know if anyone has received notification via the NHS App that they have been in contact with a confirmed case and been advised to isolate. With so many people having downloaded the app and cases on the rise I would expect there to be some people that have been notified via the app by now Hmm

Dd has the app. Her boyfriend and two people in the house tested positive on Wednesday and she's heard nothing from her app Confused

Obviously she's self isolating anyway but she thinks she may as well delete it!

@Yorkshiredolls

Ive had of those “exposure notification” messages that is described in one of those articles. the type that flashes up on the notification screen of my iphone and disappears once clicked with no record it ever existed. Its happened twice now. No instruction to isolate at all. apparently its something to do with apple And is somewhat of a glitch but the NHS covid app denies its anything to do with them, more to do with apple. I had a bit of a google and its a known thing. If I get an instruction to isolate from the app I will do just that.
I get the same thing and I don't have an iPhone.

Where do you see exposure notifications, and how many people it’s connected with?
I haven’t had any messages like that. Does that only come if you have connected with someone who is later tested positive

It's in your phone settings.

Thanks - I’m probably looking in the wrong place but all I see in my phone settings (for the nhs app) is the ability to switch notifications on or off - is there somewhere else that stores how many contacts my phone has connected with?
Hmmph · 09/10/2020 08:52

Only the Scottish app shows people connected etc. England app doesn’t.

I received a notification yesterday, opened the app and it was gone. I have no idea whether it was alerting me to exposure or what. Not very helpful

Humph it should notify me when we use the app to both log into a venue at the exact same time - in a yoga class together and having coffee together. The Bluetooth was also on at the time to log in, its just not left on constantly. There is no point in checking into a venue if someone you were there with updates the app to say they have tested positive and the app doesn't tell you

ShinyGreenElephant · 09/10/2020 09:19

@hmmph sorry tag didn't work

Thisyearcandoone · 09/10/2020 09:28

Don't have the app, don't intend going anywhere as I really can't afford not to work for two weeks, let alone if that happens more than once over the winter

Try using the search function within settings and it'll take you to pages that look like this.

That’s not how the app works though as I understand it.

It has two parts to it:

Firstly, the Bluetooth/contact tracing part- your phone communicates with other phones Bluetooth and records your contacts. If you have a positive test through the app or tell the app, a notification is then sent to all the stored contacts from your phone who have been in contact with you for a certain period of time x distance.

Secondly, the scanning in part with the QR codes. If several people who have been in a location on a particular day test positive, then you receive a notification telling you you were somewhere with a cluster and to be aware. I don’t think this one tells you to isolate. I am not sure if it does if there are lots of cases from a place.

Janevaljane · 09/10/2020 14:24

In the Times today - apparently the app has only sent one alert about a venue cluster. One.

What a load of crap.

ShinyGreenElephant · 09/10/2020 15:35

@Hmmph whole things pointless then surely? Why are we checking in to venues if that's not part of the contact tracing process? They can't rely on everyone walking round with their Bluetooth constantly turned on, literally noone will do that. I didn't realise they weren't using the check in data, may as well just delete it then

Bollards21 · 09/10/2020 16:19

Got a warning yesterday....rang all the numbers eventuall got the answer from BBC ....there is a test the system does which results in a proximity warning! The only way you know it is false is it dissappears when you click....and if you go to the app itself there is no notification! Great testmessage!!!!!!
