Yes

loobyloo1234 · 21/09/2020 14:37

No. I think it will be no mixing of households though so if it is just your bubble going away you may be ok

CathyandHeathcliff · 21/09/2020 14:37

I hope not, as we are going away this weekend too, to stay in a hotel - me and my OH.

EasterIssland · 21/09/2020 14:37

I hope not tho fearing it. My booked weekend in Cornwall will be 10 times safer than any other weekend when I meet with family. We visited Scotland few weeks ago and was the lowest risk scenario

PurpleDaisies · 21/09/2020 14:37

I hope not. I’ve got a weekend booked with dh.
No mixing of households which is what I think they’ll limit.

Redolent · 21/09/2020 14:40

I don’t think this will be the kind of urgent, targeted intervention that will really make an impact.

SockYarn · 21/09/2020 14:42

They can fuck off with that one. We missed a holiday at Easter in Scotland. Another one in the summer. I have not spent a night away from home for a YEAR.

We have 5 nights booked on the Northumberland coast in October. Self-catering. We will be walking on the beach, geocaching, relaxing, wandering around, looking round NT gardens and so on. Just taking it easy and relaxing as a family unit.

We need this break. We need to get away. We have all had a shit summer and are preparing for a shit winter. We are not posing a danger to anyone, or anything.

They can fuck RIGHT off - Boris and Nicola - if they think we're not going.

Figmentofmyimagination · 21/09/2020 14:42

As long as you stay in your household it should be ok at least for now.

The argument about hols was always over adding pressure to nhs in rural communities so maybe there will be no change here unless things really do go exponentially pear shaped again, as they need to balance need to keep tourism going.

MumOfAToddler26 · 21/09/2020 14:50

SockYarn This 👏🏻 I feel exactly the same, we had Centre Parcs cancelled two days before we were due to go in March for Hubby's 30th birthday with family, then we had to cancel our Tenerife holiday in September due to the two week quarantine, so we booked a last minute uk break for this weekend just to get away and spend time as a family. I will be gutted if this gets cancelled because of a new announcement tomorrow 😭😭

We are due to be flying to Greece next week. Can't get a refund, can't change the date. We either go or don't go.
😩

frozendaisy · 21/09/2020 14:54

No they want as many businesses running as possible, Covid secure measures might have to step up a notch.

starfish4 · 21/09/2020 14:56

Unless you're travelling from or two a high risk area, then no - not at the moment.

ksohh0 · 21/09/2020 15:12

SockYarn. Not spent a night away from home in a year? Oh no, what a tragedy!

Jaxhog · 21/09/2020 15:13

Count yourself lucky if you've been able to have a holiday. Many of us haven't because we're shielding or are key workers.

But I hope they won't be stopped, provided people still remember that we're in a crisis situation and stick to the rules. Too many people don't though. That's what will stop the Government from allowing them.

SockYarn · 21/09/2020 15:18

Didn't take long for the race to the bottom to start, did it? Hmm
chocolatesaltyballs22 · 21/09/2020 15:25

I don't think that will be the first measure although I think that will come if more restrictions are put in place and the infection rate doesn't improve.

Hope you can get on your holiday.

Mirrorxx · 21/09/2020 15:31

I really want to know this as I shortly need to pay over 2k for a holiday in October and don’t want to do so if it will then be cancelled

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 21/09/2020 15:40

Where are you meant to be going @Mirrorxx - UK or abroad?

Mirrorxx · 21/09/2020 15:42

@chocolatesaltyballs22 Scotland. We live in England so I’m hoping Scotland don’t have have stricter rules than England

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 21/09/2020 15:46

Fingers crossed...

MonsterChopz · 21/09/2020 15:47

@mirrorxx I'd wait and see what Nicola Sturgeon has to say this week too, she's was on one today at her daily update so may impose stricter rules the Boris (this is assuming you are in England of course).

bigbluebus · 21/09/2020 15:51

We've got a canal boat holiday booked to go with another couple. We'll be gutted if we can't go. We live in an area of low incidence of Covid and can be fully self sufficient once on the boat - except for getting off to do locks. The route we have planned will be tricky to do in the time if one couple can't go. Not sure what will happen re boat hire if Boris announces no mixing of households. I've already lost £1500 on a holiday I didn't go on in March - 2 days before FCO advice changed.

DistinguishedCarrot · 21/09/2020 16:13

God I hope not too. We cancelled one holiday in the midst of the first lockdown and have finally got around to booking another one for next month, this time in the UK. It's an AirBnB in a low Covid area (middle of nowhere in fact) and us coming also from a low Covid area, so I'm willing to take the risk and just clean it thoroughly myself on arrival and will happily just go for a walk every day instead of going to tourist attractions, if it just means I can get a break! I've had two work days off since the beginning of March, working 10-12 hours a day, 5 days a week - I am in desperate need of a break!

Ive no problem with them cancelling it as such

But i just wish i knew one way or the other

JorisBonson · 21/09/2020 16:16

Were due to leave for Cornwall for our wedding next week. Just the 2 of us. I'll cry if we can't go.
