I've got two nights booked in Whitby next week, going from Leeds on train and coach.

It's going to be my first break in coming up to a decade - I'm really wondering if I should just cancel, or wait for my hotel to contact me.

CathyandHeathcliff · 21/09/2020 21:41

@SeaDreaming No, don’t cancel. I really doubt they will stop the tourist industry.

What do you think about two households going on holiday together?

I'd imagine that is on more dodgy ground. We're in a part of the country where we are not supposed to go into other people's houses, or have people come to ours. I would think joining up with another household in a different part of the country would be banned for us too, although how exactly they would enforce that if we travel to somewhere under different conditions, who knows.

I'm wondering about this too. I can see us being able to go on our holiday but not with anyone else. Which would be fine but we've specifically booked a half term holiday when we don't have children, to meet up with family members for a day out. That day out is costing us all almost £300 so we don't want to lose out. What should we do? All still go and try and avoid each other all day?!

From what they’ve leaked, looks like holidays will be safe.

@MozzchopsThirty

Whereabouts are you going in Greece?
My OH is not wanting to go incase we get stuck out there if they change the goal posts.

But we're Kos and they've had very little in the way of cases I believe.

@Thismummyruns Athens before we're in lockdown again and it all goes tits up

I really uncertain about the new restrictions - as far as I can see, I'd be fine if I drove up on my own and stayed, but I don't drive; I'm a bit fuzzy about whether it's ok to go on the train from Leeds on Tuesday, or whether public transport within and out of the area is restricted to essential journeys.
