I'm worried I may have asymptomatic flu. Where can I get a test?

Just that really. Flu can be very dangerous and can lead to ME. I would hate to unknowingly pass it on.

What is making you think you have it? Asymptomatic means no symptoms or signs whatsoever.

ChanceEncounter · 02/09/2020 17:26

Oh hahaha Hmm

ChanceEncounter · 02/09/2020 17:28

What they mean, I think, is because they don't understand the flu figures, they think flu is currently more of a risk than Covid.

Lame OP

Treesofwood · 02/09/2020 17:35

Chanceencounter. What I mean is we should all take responsibility to ensure we are not unknowingly passing on any diseases.

So you just think you have it? Cos if you have symptoms then you're not asymptomatic?

Pebblexox · 02/09/2020 17:38

What do you intend people do? We're always passing on illnesses without knowing. That's how the spread.
I'll just buy myself a hazmat suit now and be done with it.

FallenSky · 02/09/2020 17:40

Wear a mask, socially distance and practice good hand and respiratory hygiene, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Ponoka7 · 02/09/2020 17:44

By the time it's flu season we'll have the vaccination programme well under way, so no need to worry about flu. Where are you getting your statistics from that it causes ME (which I have) on a scale to be worried about?

Treesofwood · 02/09/2020 17:50

Ponoka7, the flu vaccine has been 3% effective one year recently. Not sure we can really rely on that.

Theorised that it could be anyone of a number of viruses, including influenza. And presumably covid.

No harm in getting a test. Flu season is nearly upon us.

Treesofwood · 02/09/2020 18:18

Can't get a test for flu though. Only covid.

If you know that then why have you started a thread asking where to get a test...? I don’t get what this is about!
StatisticalSense · 02/09/2020 18:32

@Thisisnotnormal69
I imagine it is about the not insignificant numbers of people requesting Covid tests despite having no symptoms.

Howmanyhourswastedfindinganame · 02/09/2020 18:44

You really need to wear a mask. You could infect others.

Redcrayons · 02/09/2020 18:49

You’ve never been able to get tested for illnesses you think you might have despite not having any symptoms. You can barely get tested for stuff when you’ve got symptoms.

Treesofwood · 02/09/2020 19:46

I heard someone on the radio say that had got a covid test despite having no symptoms out of respect to their colleagues. And another radio presenter getting one weekly because she is a key worker.
I could have asymptomatic flu. Can't see why I can't get a test for that.

OP posts:
Treesofwood · 02/09/2020 19:48

Redcrayons, except Covid. You can get a rest for that, and the results read out daily on Scottish television.

Yes, we should. Some countries wear masks in flu season normally. We could adopt this.
Treesofwood · 02/09/2020 19:54

No they don't. A few people in some countries who are feeling ill wear masks on public transport.

Is this a joke thread? I don't get what point you're trying to make, people are worried enough without silly threads like this.
