Thread to state that you will not be playing a part in the experiment of secondary schools reopening as normal with no masks, no social distancing, no additional cleaning and no additional transport

The arguments have all been hashed out many times on other threads. This thread is for parents to state that they won't be participating in this and will not be sending their young people back to secondary school as things stand. Not deregistering, just not attending. Phoning in sick, phoning in as self isolating etc but not sending them in.

I state that I am not going to send my children to secondary school under current proposals.

Good for you, de-register then. Believe it or not you do have a choice. Leave other people’s choices to them.

Uhoh2020 · 09/08/2020 21:57

There's already many threads about this but go on then let's start another Confused

TheKarenWhoKnocks · 09/08/2020 21:57

I'm not deregistering. As specifically per the thread intro.

Call your LA with full child/school details and inform them that you will be home schooling, that’s all that’s needed.

TheKarenWhoKnocks · 09/08/2020 21:59

If neither of you are making a statement this is possibly not the thread for you.

OP posts:
TheKarenWhoKnocks · 09/08/2020 22:00

Thanks @HeyMacarona but I'm not asking for advice. Are you making a statement?

OP posts:
HeyMacarona · 09/08/2020 22:02

Sorry then OP, my mistake, thought you were mistaken in how you actually go about this.

You should add a disclaimer in case someone thinks by making a statement on your thread is enough...

Uhoh2020 · 09/08/2020 22:03

Why feel the need the make a/another thread to state that fact? Do you need the validation of strangers to tell you it's the right decision or are you after a round of applause or blue Peter badge or something?
I'll start you off.......good for you 👍👏

tilder · 09/08/2020 22:03

possibly not the thread for you.

This is an open forum. People can post on whichever threads they choose.

If you're keeping your kids off school, do it properly. Please don't add to the workload of teachers, social workers etc by not being honest about why your child is not in school.

TheKarenWhoKnocks · 09/08/2020 22:04

Pretty sure no one thinks that but thanks m89 👌

Mumsnet HQ, please can you create a schools coronavirus section. This is getting ridiculous.

TheKarenWhoKnocks · 09/08/2020 22:06

@Uhoh2020 I'm giving people a space to make a statement if they wish to. This isn't a thread for justification. Maybe tips and ideas for people who have made their decision.

Agreed! Same shit different day Hmm
Lilimoon · 09/08/2020 22:07

Agree with @tootyfruitypickle. These threads are getting out of hand.

LupinsNotLilys · 09/08/2020 22:08

Karen name says it all

HeyMacarona · 09/08/2020 22:08

Pretty sure that’s what I did but apparently you’re not after advice.

you could have read the hundreds of other threads the same for that

tootyfruitypickle · 09/08/2020 22:08

@Uhoh2020 it’s so odd as no one I know irl holds these opinions and yet this board has been taken over

TheKarenWhoKnocks · 09/08/2020 22:09

If only there were other threads people could post on ... but no, the entirety of Mumsnet and indeed the internet is composed of me and my thread. It's a disgrace.

OP posts:
SE13Mummy · 09/08/2020 22:09

It's not something I'll be doing as my Y7 and Y11 DCs are desperate to get back to school and s DH and I are both teachers, we've been back for ages anyway.

Have you checked your DCs' school places won't be at risk of being withdrawn if you choose not to send them? If they attend an oversubscribed school and do not fall into a category for which self isolation is recommended on medical grounds, this is probably something to check out.

Pikachubaby · 09/08/2020 22:09

Just don’t send them to school then

Or make your statement on your FB page

Or on a banner and stand outside your school

Goinghometocallie · 09/08/2020 22:10

Oh get real. All the Mums I know would start their own school if the kids could go back first thing tomorrow morning.

Jrobhatch29 · 09/08/2020 22:11

Oh hooray another schools thread saying exactly the same as the 46365 others

tootyfruitypickle · 09/08/2020 22:11

Maybe we need to start a thread for all of those of us who ARE sending our kids to school.

There can never be too many schools threads after all ...

LaureBerthaud · 09/08/2020 22:11

@LupinsNotLilys

Karen name says it all
Oh don't start with all that ageist misogynistic Karen crap.
