And what job do you do? ( not those in teaching / hospitality) I work in admin and desperate to go back Sad

I've only just gone back but most of the staff I work with are still furloughed. Mass redundancies are expected, a few happened today. I work in hospitality

Natsel84 · 28/06/2020 22:09

I'm a hairdresser, due to go back hopefully on the 13th July

gingganggooleywotsit · 28/06/2020 22:32

me I work in adult education

HemlockStarglimmer · 28/06/2020 22:58

Me - clothes shop. Scuttlebutt has it that we'll reopen soon but it might be as long as another three weeks.

Vodkafairy75 · 28/06/2020 23:08

I’m finally returning to work on Friday, I’m the last to go back into the workplace. Work in a vet practice. Apparently it’s been really busy even though it’s still only emergencies being seen.

Newschapter · 28/06/2020 23:12

Me. Local media.

No events mean nothing to report on 🤷‍♀️

Sorryusernamealreadyexists · 28/06/2020 23:29

Me. Mine was extended till the end of July but who knows

C33P0 · 28/06/2020 23:49

I'm still on furlough. Scientist at a charity. Plan is to return in August, but the charity will undoubtedly be planning redundancies.

Nobodyputsdaisyinthecorner · 29/06/2020 02:55

@CurlyhairedAssassin To be fair those you see exercising on your commute are as likely to be those working from home getting out before and after home work as those on furlough.

I’ve worked from home for years and fit in exercise at these times and now dh is wfh he does too. It’s not healthy to sit all day so many like to be active before and after work for a walk or cycle to make up for missing the commute

MrsOrMiss · 29/06/2020 03:05

My daughter who works for an international pizza firm. We've had to help her a lot financially. There's no sign when she'll be returning even though the chain has reopened restaurants in large malls.

I'm a care worker and DH a construction dispute lawyer, we've both been lucky enough to stay employed. DH has never been so busy 🙁

DamitJanet · 29/06/2020 03:23

Me, also charity. About 60% of staff are off until at least September. In theory the majority will be heading back on 1st September, with the drama remainder being phased back between then and the end of October, but I’ll be amazed if there aren’t significant redundancies before then.

BumDiggyDiggyDiggyBumDiggyBum · 29/06/2020 06:52

Yip, aviation. Looking at October to come out of furlough, but wfh for the foreseeable future. Work is picking back up so might be sooner.

FunnyInjury · 29/06/2020 07:26

My dc plays a team sport. The whole club and every other club in the league are all still on furlough. So from players and coaches, to retail staff to groundsmen, all still not allowed to work.
It might be the death of our sport Sad

MabelMoo23 · 29/06/2020 09:47

Me - work in events. Looking like at least September as a minimum if not October. If my job even survives

hugocat · 29/06/2020 10:20

So, realistically are those still on furlough starting to look for other jobs? This is my 8th week now and it's starting to look like I won't have a job to go back to..

OP posts:
Gercha · 29/06/2020 10:32

Hospitality. Was on Furlough but now being made redundant. Live in an area heavily reliant on the aviation industry and huge job losses imminent, no job vacancies at all and things look pretty bleak.

thisstooshallpass · 29/06/2020 10:33

Yes. Work for an airline.

thisstooshallpass · 29/06/2020 10:37

@hugocat yes, I am 😩

Kittytheteapot · 29/06/2020 10:38

Me. Admin in a surveyors office. I'm beginning to think I need to look for another job...

Northernsoullover · 29/06/2020 10:40

I'm a cleaner, went back to work on Thurs to clean student accommodation. I'll be busy until mid September but may not have a job after.
If I save enough I will maybe not bother working as I'm in my final year at university.

BrieAndChilli · 29/06/2020 10:41

I do admin for a company that does exhibtion booths, digital media, websites, printed material, design, branding etc.
Still on furlough and not sure when will go back. Bosses are still working and keeping up with the small amount of work that’s coming through as well as applying for tenders etc.
Not sure if will have a job to go back to but most of our clients are pharmaceutical so hopefully the work will come back once congresses etc start back up

BunsyGirl · 29/06/2020 10:42

Me. I’m a lawyer. About a third of the firm I work for are on furlough at the moment. They have said that they are looking at part time furlough from August-October. I have no idea what’s going to happen. Trying to keep calm about the situation but I am fed up as haven’t worked since March - I had two weeks holiday at the begging for of April and was furloughed immediately after that.

nowaitaminute · 29/06/2020 10:44

My dh is still on furlough but only be a the country he works in is still on lockdown so he cannot go there. Our situation is unique in that we live in one country, he is employed and pays taxes in another country and works IN another separate country. So we are constantly trying to work with the rules and regulations of 3 separate countries.

Yogatoga09 · 29/06/2020 10:46

Yep-airline

TheFlis12345 · 29/06/2020 10:47

DH and I are both still on furlough, both in jobs related to marketing.
