Can't believe how much weight I've gained?

According to my scale, 20lb in the last six weeks (14lb of which in the last 2 weeks.) I knew I'd been overeating and could feel I'd gained weight, but totally shocked that it's that much. Sad

I've been really down during this whole lockdown period and comfort eating/drinking. I keep kicking myself as lockdown could have been the perfect opportunity to lose weight, not gain it! Ah well, I suppose what's done is done Sad

It's not just you, trust me.

MrsPussinBoots · 16/06/2020 19:01

Definitely not just you. I'm too scared to weigh myself.

Bramblebear92 · 16/06/2020 19:05

I'm sooo annoyed at myself. I lost nearly 5 stone three years ago and thanks to this 'new' weight gain I now need to lose 3 stone to get back to where I was. Argh Sad

3500 extra calories for one llb weight gained apparently. So, 49 000 extra calories in a fortnight? Sure your scales are correct??!

Bramblebear92 · 16/06/2020 19:14

I think so. I do have a tendency to gain fast. Last summer I gained 20lb in a similar time period and it took me all summer to lose it again. No doubt some/most of it is water weight but still very alarming to see.

I can tell from my tummy mainly that i've put on loads of weight. i don't have scales so no idea how much i'll probably be shocked as well i guess. don't want to think about it.

AKissAndASmile · 16/06/2020 19:15

I've put on weight too, but wow that's some going Grin

AKissAndASmile · 16/06/2020 19:17

You must have been eating 6000 calories a day to gain that, so it can't be correct

Tiktokgone · 16/06/2020 19:17

I've put on 7lbs this week so I believe it.

CrystalMaisie · 16/06/2020 19:20

Me too 😩 I needed a kick because I go back to work in 3 weeks and can’t fit in any clothes. I saw a 3 week weight loss/ detox on Instagram yesterday with a nutritionist, which my dh and I following. Day 2 and I am actually hopeful that I can do it! Before someone asks me when the baby is due!

Beingslightlymad · 16/06/2020 19:20

I’ve put on over 1.5 stone since lockdown. 😰

GreyGardens88 · 16/06/2020 19:20

I sat nude infront of the mirror a few weeks ago whilst DP gave me a haircut. I've never been so disgusted by a sight in my life as my rolls and belly staring back at me

I started dieting that evening and lost a lot of weight so far! Still at least 2 stone of fat I need to get rid of though

Bramblebear92 · 16/06/2020 19:26

Yeah, I'd been avoiding the scale and definitely needed a kick to do something. I'm hoping the rapid 14lb gain may come off quite quickly. I've definitely not been eating anything near 6k calories, so hopefully a lot of it is water weight Sad

Me too. Heaviest I’ve been.

Sorting this out “tomorrow”

It’s always bloody tomorrow at this rate.

What on earth
You must be close Grin

purpleme12 · 16/06/2020 19:32

It's the whole exercise thing as well though. even when i'm working from home i don't do half the exercise i normally do cos i'm sat here. at work i would be up and about loads more.
normally in normal life i walk a few miles each day with going everywhere we need to.
gone to way way less now if any at all.... so i guess it was just a matter of time!

WinnieWonder · 16/06/2020 19:34

me too. excuse the turn of phrase.

I've never been much above 9 and a half stone, but I stood on the scales 2 weeks ago and I was nearly eleven.

I did know that my trousers were all too tight though.
The clues were there. But yet I was still shocked.

Keto is not something I've ever done before. Never been on board with any formal diet but I've lost about 6lbs on keto. It has reset my metabolism. Might switch to a more plant based diet soon but low low cars and no fear of fat.

So Keto-ish. I just can't eat all this meat and cheese. And you get sick of avocados, but it works.

WinnieWonder · 16/06/2020 19:36

mine was not water weight. It was pink gin weight.

I was having 2 or 3 five nights a week. It sounds a lot when I type it but it didn't feel like that much. Too many takeaways, pizzas, chips, noodles. Nothing healthy. And I was working, outside of the home! So I've zero excuse.

Bramblebear92 · 16/06/2020 19:38

@WinnieWonder

Keto has worked for me in the past. Though I was at a lower weight last time I did it. I've spent the last 24 hours feeling absolutely disgusted at myself. But I guess it won't change anything Sad Weight gain in the grand scheme of things is not that bigger deal, but it's just another way the virus has negatively impacted people's lives Confused

Don't worry; get your head down and you can shift it. You're not alone!!

anjiat · 16/06/2020 19:43

It's not just you. If only losing weight was as easy as gaining it.

Sorryusernamealreadyexists · 16/06/2020 19:44

Please don’t judge yourself for how you’ve dealt with a stressful time during a pandemic Flowers

WinnieWonder · 16/06/2020 19:44

I know, I think that ''what's a few extra pounds in the grander scheme of things'' mentality that lead to me piling on 20lbs.

I just found comfort in pink gins and takeaway and chocolate and didn't try to reign that in for the first time in my life I just ate and drank what I wanted for 3 months.

Never really done that before. Always had an eye on the scales or a particular dress for a special occasion.

I was watching something that gave me a KICK UP THE ARSE THE OTHER DAY.

This podcaster Ivor Cummins, fat emperor talks about how patients with low insulin sensitivity have poorer outcomes when they catch a viral respiratory illness (although not specifically covid) but insulin resistance and related leptin resistance causes a cytokine storm. So, shocked me to realise that my ''comfort'' eating and drinking could cost me my life! Bit dramatic perhaps but I'm not young enough to just assume I'd be ok if I got it.

GreyGardens88 · 16/06/2020 19:44

Why nude??

Didn't want the hairs going onto my clothes
