Can't believe how much weight I've gained?

According to my scale, 20lb in the last six weeks (14lb of which in the last 2 weeks.) I knew I'd been overeating and could feel I'd gained weight, but totally shocked that it's that much. Sad

I've been really down during this whole lockdown period and comfort eating/drinking. I keep kicking myself as lockdown could have been the perfect opportunity to lose weight, not gain it! Ah well, I suppose what's done is done Sad

There’s hope! I too piled on the lockdown lard. I got on the scales and I’ve put on a stone and half in the last 18 months - the last half probably since Lockdown due to not giving a shit about what I ate or - especially - drank.

Kicked myself up my expanding arse 15 days ago and have lost 7lbs. Another 7-10 off and I’ll be very happy.

I put on weight at the start of lockdown and was shocked at my weight. I'm not overweight at 10.5 stone and at 5'7''.
Anyway I'm normally under 10 stone and I felt horrible. I signed up to Noom, did C25K and I've lost 0.5 stone and I still want to lose another 0.25 stone.
You can lose the weight. I have had hard moments where my weight has plateaued but I've carried on and the numbers keep going down.
It is possible. I'm going to be 50 next year so definitely menopausal or peri. I didn't want to have the inevitable weight gain associated.

@Headstand

DH has somehow lost about a stone if not more while I have gained about 20lbs! We're eating the same and I exercise more than he does so goodness knows what happened here Confused
That's so sad. I'd be devastated. What do you think happened?
BlodwynBludd · 16/06/2020 22:34

Wierdly I found I have a 7lbs difference on weight depending on the time of day I weigh. I have tested
this over three weeks. Also got dh to weigh himself ( no change) but I put on 7lbs a day and then magically lose it overnight.

Bramblebear92 · 16/06/2020 22:42

Hmmm some people do seem to fluctuate more than others. 2 weeks ago I had a 5lb difference between morning and night. I'm hoping I'll magically drop 7lb but not hopeful. Today has been the first day I've been quite good Blush So clearly the shock has worked!

I haven't gained weight, but it's all shifted - I have a much bigger gut, and am definitely more wobbly. Less muscle tone.

I did couch to 5k (and got there relatively easily), I have done 16:8 fasting the whole time. So that's 84 meals missed in 12 weeks. And it took 84 meals missed to not lard up massively, yet still a wobbly mess.

Woohoo!

Another one rolling on to the thread to confess lockdown gluttony.

In my case, it was all the wine and all the cheese. Weighed myself over the weekend me I have put on just over half a stone in the last 3 months. This takes me to just within the “overweight” BMI category for the first time in over a decade. Felt absolutely awful about it, really depressed and disappointed. I’d got back to pre-baby weight 7 months after birth and now this. Stupid.

Started a low carb diet and daily exercise + more walking. Hoping to keep it up really rigorously until the end of the months and then see about switching to something more manageable.

Like others, my weight fluctuates hugely during the day. I always weigh myself as soon as I wake up for a bit of consistency. The other day I woke up 3 hours earlier than usual, weighed myself, went back to bed and was a little lighter again when I woke up the second time.

Agree also that my body shape seems different this time - more seems to have gone into the stomach and more wobbly all round. I suspect, in my case. it might be to do with moving less and losing the sort of muscle tone you naturally maintain dashing around here and there in everyday life.

My teenager can consume 5-6k calories/day.
I was sure I'd blimp up due to Lockdown.
So far I haven't, thank goodness. I'm doing 3-4 hours exercise on many days.

YgritteSnow · 17/06/2020 07:23

Some of it will be excess bloat/water weight, which you'll lose quite easily if you cut right down. Not all of those excess calories will have been laid down as proper fat just yet.

WingingItSince1973 · 17/06/2020 15:49

I've put on 1.5 stone and as I was already putting weight on this has made me feel worse. So I'm calorie controlling and exercising. I used to be fit and alot slimmer so this is a horrible wake up call xx

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/06/2020 15:59

In the last 12 weeks
I've put on 112lb.
Dh has lost 4 and a half stone.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/06/2020 15:59

12lb not 112lb.

WhatTheWhoNow · 17/06/2020 17:37

I’ve also gained 20 pounds, working from home in the days and studying at night means I rarely leave the house or a sitting position. Cheering myself up with booze after studying ends and eating whatever is on hand. I literally can’t get any of my clothes on 😩

Bramblebear92 · 17/06/2020 19:53

It's depressing, but I suppose we have to start somewhere. I drank tons of water yesterday and ate well and already 3lb down today so hopefully that'll continue over the next few days and I might eventually be able to face the scale without having a break down Confused

Maybe you should prod for the scan. Smile

swimkiwipanda · 17/06/2020 21:30

I'm gutted, I lost half a stone at the start of lockdown, then regained it, and then put on another stone. I still can't stop eating chocolate and ice cream. In the beginning I was really disciplined. Need a semi disciplined plan again very soon.
