Can't believe how much weight I've gained?

Bramblebear92 · 16/06/2020 18:58

According to my scale, 20lb in the last six weeks (14lb of which in the last 2 weeks.) I knew I'd been overeating and could feel I'd gained weight, but totally shocked that it's that much. Sad

I've been really down during this whole lockdown period and comfort eating/drinking. I keep kicking myself as lockdown could have been the perfect opportunity to lose weight, not gain it! Ah well, I suppose what's done is done Sad

Thanks all Smile I think I won't weigh for a few days at least. Hopefully I can kick the weight gain to to the kurb. I think I'm just so disappointed in myself because I swore I would never gain this much weight again. It has been creeping up over the last 2 years and now is going to have to be the time to holt it if I don't want to end up like I used to be!

I found a video one of the DC had taken on my phone the other day, I looking fucking horrendous. I actually thought for about 5 seconds it was an old video of me when I was 8 months pregnant with my youngest but no, just an unflattering angle and me not sucking in my stomach.

I've been trying over the last 4 weeks to eat better and doing 16:8 but although I seemed to lose 4lbs it went right back on for some reason the other day. I live in fear someone is going to ask when I'm due...

Bagelsandbrie · 16/06/2020 19:54

Same boat here. Definitely going to need a ferry rather than a boat if it continues as well Grin

I’m trying to lose it. Couch to 5k and long walks and cutting down on snacks etc. But god the homemade cakes and proper lunches are VERY tempting.

I’ve put on a stone.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 16/06/2020 19:55

I've put on a stone and 3lb since lockdown started. Worst thing is, I have been eating sensibly the last 2 weeks and the weight gain has continued.

livefornaps · 16/06/2020 19:58

I've been waking up each morning and shaking the all-over flab til it ripples, the booty bouncing like it would threaten a total eclipse, just to try and kick start the metabolism

Samtsirch · 16/06/2020 19:59

I find that holding onto the bathroom sink whilst standing on the scales helps me considerably with my ongoing weight battle, especially during lockdown 😊

Chesneyhawkes1 · 16/06/2020 20:01

I've not weighed myself but I know I've put on weight. I reckon half a stone.

I've not been well and haven't done my usual exercise since April ish.

So today I started low carb. It's works quickly for me when I've done it before. Once I feel better and can run again, I'll eat more carbs.

Regretful123 · 16/06/2020 20:05

Water weight - a litre of water is 1kg so how much is actually water weight?

BrandyandBabycham · 16/06/2020 20:05

It’s the dreaded booze for me - I knew I’d put weight on but I’m 12 stone now & only just under 5ft 3”! At one point I got down to 9 stone. Feeling a bit crap about it tbh. DH still fancies me & is very affectionate but I know I need to do something about it for my general health. I have had A LOT of wine

Why nude?
Why not?

Hashtag - prudesnet

😁

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 16/06/2020 20:20

Have a look at Noom. I just started a trial and it's really great.

Musicforsmorks · 16/06/2020 20:32

Ladies can you help me make a list of the the most fattening alcoholic drinks in descending order?

Too thin all my damn life, put a stone on over lockdown.
Not altered eating but have drunk much more Blush

Wine or whiskey shots?
First world problems but hey.

namechangedyetagain · 16/06/2020 20:43

I've put on closer to two stone. I've also had a dodgy ankle (Achilles tendonitis) which has not calmed down at all since last summer. It is painful to even walk, so I don't even do that. Sometimes I can't sleep because it hurts. The doctor last autumn suggested some stretches for it but they've not worked and it's constantly throbbing.

Anyway. Another excuse as to why I'm an ugly fat cow 😥

WinnieWonder · 16/06/2020 20:56

What is Noom?
Is it low carb? low fat?
What's the main idea?

Headstand · 16/06/2020 21:01

DH has somehow lost about a stone if not more while I have gained about 20lbs! We're eating the same and I exercise more than he does so goodness knows what happened here Confused

ohtheholidays · 16/06/2020 21:01

Same here and I am so pissed off with myself,I lost nearly 3 stone on slimming world and then alot of shit happened for us as a family and I stopped going and then just as things were starting to get back to normal Covid happened and I've sodding put it all back on and then some.

But tomorrow I am weighing myself and getting back on that horse,Not an actual Horse could that would be the biggest offence towards an animal ever more like back on the Elephant

Wanttobeateacherinscotland · 16/06/2020 21:03

Had you actually weighed yourself just before lockdown though or could the weight have been creeping on for a while and you’re only just noticing it now it’s a stone?

gower4 · 16/06/2020 21:05

You can't gain 20lb in 6 weeks. As a PP said, surely that's about 6000 calories a day!

Bramblebear92 · 16/06/2020 21:06

Interesting what people do are saying about drink. I've definitely drunk more during lockdown, but I never find alcohol has as much impact on my weight as food. Of course, excess food and excess alcohol together are probably not going to be a great combo for the waistline. But at my skinniest I drank quite a lot (didn't eat a lot though.)

Not condoning either behaviour.

gower4 · 16/06/2020 21:06

And you definitely can't gain a stone in a fortnight.

itsgettingweird · 16/06/2020 21:07

I think lots of people have lockdown lard!

I have and I've been working Hmm

But general movement has been less. Boredom eating at weekends. No swimming, gym etc. Parents not necessarily able to get out and exercise due to changes in shift patterns.

I've looked at slimming world online and seriously thinking the £20 a month will be worth it!

Bramblebear92 · 16/06/2020 21:08

No I haven't had 6k a day. I'm presuming I retain more water than the average person.

I'd guess I've averaged between 2000-2500 over the last six weeks. Enough to gain maybe 6lb but definitely not 20!

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 16/06/2020 21:13

I think once you've been quite overweight you can gain very quickly. So yes 20lb is possible, sadly. More so if you're drinking lots of calories in addition to overeating. It is very easy to underestimate food intake during a very stressful time.

Noom seems to be adaptable to different diets (I follow the Paleo diet and they gave me a meal plan based around that). It's psychological support and advice on how to lose weight and keep it off. I'm only 5 days in but they keep stressing they are all about long-term loss and maintenance. I'm learning a lot. The trial is 2 weeks and is available for a minimum of £1 so it's worth looking at at least.

Bramblebear92 · 16/06/2020 21:15

@gower4 That's what I'm hoping. Last year I gained 20lb in three weeks, which again, should be impossible. I presumed it was a combination of water, swelling and some fat but it did take 4 months to shift the weight.

I do have problems with excess swelling in my legs and was being investigated for lipedema before the lockdown. My scan was pushed back and I haven't heard anything about when it will be rescheduled Hmm

HatRack · 16/06/2020 21:46

Fellow fatty here.

Has anyone's Dh also gained?
