@Kitcat122

Sorry that’s really rubbish. You really need an X-ray and a CT.

Have you had bloods? I’m not sure but these might be necessary prior to a referral!? Can you ask for blood work?

Otherwise can you self refer or ask the Dr for a referral to a pulmonary, chest, heart or disease consultant?

Silvergoldsilver · 20/06/2020 15:48

Hi all, it’s day 90 for me today, what a crazy milestone. My period has messed with my symptoms this week but I was slowly getting stronger before.

@fedupofbed I saw a few posts back that you said you were considering acupuncture - I’d say definitely try it! I was having it before covid but now my local clinic has reopened, I think the past 2 weeks of sessions have really helped me get stronger. A friend of mine that had PVFS after glandular fever said that acupuncture was the thing that helped her the most so fingers crossed you have some positive effects..it might take a few sessions though Smile

Kitcat122 · 20/06/2020 16:03

@Millstone yes finally had bloods last week and waiting for a xray for the last 4 weeks. Sorry just having a rant as my doctor just says we are seeing long term symptoms alot now. As if its OK to live like this because other people are too. It would be nice for someone to take us seriously and really examine us. Hopefully it will happen soon as more people come forward.

fedupofbed · 20/06/2020 16:37

Ooh thanks @Silvergoldsilver that's very encouraging to hear. A friend with CFS recommended it too. I've got an initial video consultation set up for Monday, and she's also a herbalist.

I'm still seeing a chiropractor too. This is definitely not a cure (as I think time is the only one!) but I do find it really beneficial.

I'm sorry about your period, and hope it's only a temporary blip. Mine has finally arrived today. Do others find their symptoms worsen before the period or during the period or both?! I've had about 8 days of crapness, and was hoping that I'd come out of it soon.

KatySun · 20/06/2020 16:56

Kitkat* I pretty much had to say to the doctor that in normal times I would not be left with this level of chest pain and how could I know nothing was wrong? To be fair, I have been seen by a doctor at the coronavirus hub (am in Scotland) and my own GP has done blood tests, but because they came back clear, I think she was going to tell me that it was just a matter of time for things to return to normal. I had been in excruciating pain the previous night and could hardly walk and so I said in normal times, I would have phoned for an ambulance. I have had many times like that. This is not normal.

The pain has now abated somewhat so I feel I made a fuss but as soon as I do anything very much, it will return. I am only breathless on exertion (ie going up the stairs). But before this I would not have had chest pain and breathlessness on exertion.

anyway, not sure if that is any help at all. I hope your chest x-Ray appointment comes through soon. Is there a practice manager or someone else you can speak to to check the state of the referral?

godhelpusall · 20/06/2020 17:22

@Egghead68 what he suggests is writing your own but including his. But it's up to you

godhelpusall · 20/06/2020 17:24

I think what strikes me is that the medics are absolutely anti the idea of it being written off as pvfs - I think they suspect viral persistence or auto immune conditions

godhelpusall · 20/06/2020 17:25

Or at least the need to explore it rather than just ignore it

Kitcat122 · 20/06/2020 17:45

Thank you @KatySun, I'm sure like you it's just time. But as you say in ordinary times we would never be at home for months with these symptoms. When I enquired roughly how long to wait for my xray was told "I have no idea". So I shall hold on a few more weeks and hopefully it will come through. I am feeling better just slight underlining chest pain. I feel like it would come back if I ran around or shouted to loud. Same with shortness of breath only when exerting myself. But relapsed before when I felt like this. Anyway I'm usually really positive just feeling a bit worried today that I'll never get better.

Egghead68 · 20/06/2020 17:56

Will do @godhelpusall.

KatySun · 20/06/2020 18:02

I feel the same, that if I do too much, the pain and breathlessness comes back - but too much is really so little compared to what I used to do. I cannot talk for any length of time, for example on the phone. At the moment, it is at the stage where it feels like my lungs are bruised, rather than excruciating. Even if it is just a matter of time, it would be good to have that confirmed with an x-Ray showing nothing to worry about. Hopefully it will come through soon Flowers

Silvergoldsilver · 20/06/2020 18:11

Thank you @fedupofbed - keep us posted on how it goes! For me my period has been totally different each time since the virus but I generally have a relapse of some sort at the beginning and at the end of it..the middle seems to be more or less ok..very strange. Hope everyone is having an ok day today Flowers

Moodgie · 20/06/2020 18:30

I have had a poorly dog since Tuesday and very broken sleep because of that, it has been pretty tiring and stressful. Also did some jobs round the house and since yesterday feel not as good again. Feel some palpitation-like issues (that settled in the last few weeks I thought), and the breathlessness (with no exertion).
Saying that, I had a bit of a scratchy throat before, and I kind of feel a bit of a cyclical thing - scratchy throat, then breathlessness.
Also spoke to GP again, as my sick note has finished and I am going to try a day a week at school. Again he has said he hears it all, with the breathing issues persisting as well as arthritis (which I have had in my hands).

Kitcat122 · 20/06/2020 18:30

@KatySun my lungs feel bruised too and I am the same can do very little compared to the how I used to be. Last time I got to this stage I started gently exercising (walking) and relapsed, this time I'm trying to relax as much as possible. Although back at work full time and have 4 kids so easier said than done 🙄😂. Hopefully we will ALL be on the mend soon.

Hi all
After my busy week I am ok today but absolutely exhausted and strangely I have a sore tongue. Still got the aching back and joints plus now I think I have a water infection. Mainly I am just really tired and to be honest I am now going to go to bed and try and sleep as much as I can. I have enjoyed sitting in the sunshine today, Someone asked if I could have a reduced timetable back into work but unfortunately this is my reduced timetable. My school are easing every year back on a part time basis and I am the last year back in two weeks time so I am quite lucky in some ways. I am of to bed now I hope all of you have a good night and feel better in the morning even if it is just a little,

Whatnext2018 · 20/06/2020 22:09

Hi all,
Rough few days, mainly trying to keep anxiety under control as I just feel really fearful at times, it’s really strange, just want it to end. It’s upsetting my dp to see me like this also, I have to get a grip somehow and believe all will be ok, anyone else feel like this?

Still aching neck and back and burning sort of in upper back and arms, plus not really pain but strange feeling between breastbone part in the centre? Anyone had these symptoms?

Teeth and gums also sore, but have had this before. I can’t tell if things are easing or not tbh, still have the numbness around mouth occasionally but so far definitely not as bad as when it started 5 weeks ago.

Can anyone reassure me that we’re definitejy just in a post viral type phase now?

Any thoughts on the new drug (I forget the name) could it help us at all?

LetsBeSensible · 20/06/2020 22:45

@whatnext2018 sorry you feel rotten, I’m feeling much better than I was at weeks 6-10. I don’t think that drug will work for us, it is for people on ventilators in hospital I believe.
I had all of what you describe. It all comes back if I overdo it. I think you’re a few weeks behind me I’m 13 weeks/d95

Whatnext2018 · 21/06/2020 09:25

Thanks so much @LetsBeSensible I’m really not sure which week I’m on at this stage as I can trace symptoms back to mid March but only worse in the last 7 weeks.

Can anyone help me with this? I’ve been testing my oxygen level when I wake, so I roll over and test on my finger. On my right hand the level was low, I swapped to my left hand and the level was normal, I did this a few times, how do I know which reading is correct?

Also my heart rate seems to be up again, it’s ok when resting but higher than it has been the last couple of weeks, but when I stand or am stood up even making toast etc, it’s 120, is that normal? Feel shaky inside too this morning.
