Where did you buy your face mask?

Me and DP are wfh. We work at the same place and it looks like we may go back part time and wfh part time. I dont drive so if we're working opposite days (around ds if he doesn't go back to school? Who knows?)

I'll need to get the metro as I don't drive.

I know it can just be a face covering but would rather buy a mask if I need to cover.

There are lots of homemade ones being sold on Etsy at various prices. My local FB group has people offering them too. You can also make your own fairly easily, even without being able to sew.

3 x cotton double layer masks with filter pockets from Amazon two days before lockdown. They were sold out completely a few days later. Three more from Etsy a few weeks in to lockdown.

Elouera · 04/06/2020 18:00

I don't have one, but many local pharmacies and strangely phone shops are selling them around me.

SpillTheTeaa · 04/06/2020 18:03

I got my surgical masks from work but got my sons fabric one from Etsy.

Drogonssmile · 04/06/2020 18:05

I just grabbed a couple of packs on a whim when I saw them at the checkout in M&S. think it's 2 or 3 masks in a pack for £3. The surgical kind with an adjustable nose bit over the bridge of the nose.

Violetparis · 04/06/2020 18:07

Etsy

GinNotGym19 · 04/06/2020 18:08

I picked up a pack of 2 reusable washable ones from Asda for 2.50 this week. I’d bought some reusable ones on eBay, but they was way too thick and I couldn’t breathe but these are a lot better

PorpentiaScamander · 04/06/2020 18:09

I'm making my own.

GoldenHoops · 04/06/2020 18:19

Home Bargains had some yesterday and Amazon delivery took 4 days.

EggysMom · 04/06/2020 18:22

Asda were selling a pack of the disposable ones today, I think it was 4 for £3.50

TheClitterati · 04/06/2020 18:23

I've made ours. I even have ones to match specific outfits GrinGrin

Flythedragons · 04/06/2020 18:25

I picked some up in the co op today. £3 each and washable, hopefully they’re ok.

Orangecake123 · 04/06/2020 18:31

I bought surgical masks for my sisters from a pharmacy in feb & Wicks too.

kimlo · 04/06/2020 18:33

facebook, but I noticed my local chemist had them in.

Agingdisgracefully · 04/06/2020 18:35

I made mine. Fabric has my favourite singer on. Plus have made about 300 for our village sewing group. Loads of local groups around doing this. Usually no fee but voluntary donation to nhs

GoldenZigZag · 04/06/2020 18:37

Pharmacy. They have three different types.

EspressoX10 · 04/06/2020 18:41

I haven't bought any yet, but if I must wear them, I'm looking forward to the Uniqlo Airism models as that fabric is super comfortable and cool to wear.

I read today that they've started producing them this week.

Cotton, pleated masks with nose pinch wire to stop them slipping and adjustable elastic ear ties from this Cumbrian small business. They usually make cat and dog collars in beautiful fabrics, that's how I knew of them. Masks are really lovely quality.

Have found these so comfortable, even in the hot weather over the last week. Lots of different prints, only £4.99 each, low cost postage UK wide.

Don't forget about Folksy too. It's the UK etsy. I made some yesterday. Fairly easy.

puffinandkoala · 04/06/2020 20:04

I just use a runner's snood. My husband also made one with a cotton handkerchief and elastic bands to hold it on - no sewing required.

Glad if that helps @peridito @redolent, I really would recommend them.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 05/06/2020 08:35

I bought one on etsy, ive ordered one each for my family and two for me from a friend who makes beautiful bags, clutches, cushions etc and has turned her hand to masks

Ive bought some disposable ones as well

Only one of us uses public transport (and that may change this year and i just give him a lift to college) but if they become mandatory in shops and /or we use public transport more i will buy some more

Thanks for the dog mask link...dd loves pugs and I’m going to see if she wants one
