Are hairdressers still forecast to open on the 4 July?

I think I read they were classed as non essential retail, so was wondering if it would be 15 June.

Not that I’m desperate or anything,,.🤥

Just wondered if anyone on here knew?

Thanks

They're not retail as such, even if they may sell you a few products on the side.

LaureBerthaud · 26/05/2020 13:31

My hairdresser is very much hoping to open 4th July. I will be first in the queue.

LaureBerthaud · 26/05/2020 13:34

Sorry, Bluntness - misread your post. My hairdresser hasn't tweeted anything since Boris's announcement yesterday.

sunglasses123 · 26/05/2020 13:37

No, sadly I think it will be 4th July and it will be hell to get an appointment. I am hearing that they wont be doing blow dries which is fine by me but maybe not with others.

Could do with a back massage and my legs desperately need a proper wax.

If shops do open I guess it will be without all the cafes. We have become coffee mad though. Some people cannot even get to the shops without having a coffee first so I think the High Street wont be as busy as we expect.

I would love to go to the cinema as well. Dont mind booking in advance and maybe being there 10 minutes in advance to stop people turning up late and trying to push past you once the film has started. They can get rid of all the rubbish food as well whilst they are about it (IMHO of course!). People constantly unable to sit down for 90 or so minutes without cramming food into themselves.

Hairdressers are not opening on 15th June according to a list quite far down in this DM article:
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8357009/Coronavirus-UK-Britains-shoppers-face-new-normal-one-way-walking-systems.html

AnotherDilemma · 26/05/2020 13:44

I think it’s still July for hairdressers 🤞🏻 Mine have asked for details of those who want to be added to their waitlist for appointments.

@sunglasses123 I’m desperate to go to the cinema as well - we used to go every couple of weeks if there was something worth watching. I’ve read Vue talking about all the safety measures they can put into place so hopefully they’ll be allowed to open in July. I really want to see Tenet (assuming it still comes out in July)

noego · 26/05/2020 14:12

I'd like to know where these politicians, journalists and newscasters are getting their hair done. It's been 8/9 weeks now and they haven't got a hair out of place.
They have got to have been breaking rules and yet they are screaming for Cummins resignation.
The hypocrisy is mind blowing.

Wigs?

PilatesPeach · 26/05/2020 14:50

My hairdresser has posted on FB that they are indeed planning for 4th July along with a list of new measures which will include waiting outside or in car until your appointment, wearing a mask supplied by them of a particular grade - £1 to be added to charge, no phones to be used during nail appointments, a screen between manicurist & client, no magazines - bring your own if required, longer hours as there can be fewer clients, clients to hang up own jacket or ideally leave in car & all payments to be card, no cash. New gown per client or probably newly washed one rather than a brand new one. There might be more but those are the ones I can recall. Oh and don't put your handbag on reception when paying. Join a waiting list for an appointment too.

PilatesPeach · 26/05/2020 14:52

I have cut & coloured my own hair during lockdown so am not actually in a desperate rush to get an appointment. I'm quite impressed with the result!

sunglasses123 · 26/05/2020 16:02

I can just imagine the fuss some people will make. My DS works in a well know posh supermarket. The things he was told he needed to allow (even though it was something they had said you couldnt do).

Special people of course, policies couldnt possibly apply to them and now they had a trolley full of shopping etc etc.

We are just going to have to suck it up - or just dont go!

Sparklingbrook · 26/05/2020 16:05

How about mobile hairdressers? What's happening there?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/05/2020 16:50

That's interesting @PilatesPeach, my hairdresser doesn't take card payments, only cash or cheque. Hopefully this will push them into the 21st century!

imsooverthisdrama · 26/05/2020 16:50

It's still the 4th July mobile or otherwise.
I've had to colour my own hair I hate it . I've cut dh hair it's not too bad but god yeah I'm desperate to get to the hairdressers.

Bluntness100 · 26/05/2020 17:11

Thanks all, I can’t understand why it’s so Bloody late, other countries haven’t done this. Why are we?

I has a mobile hairdresser come to my door yesterday, but I’m waiting for my usual one, but she’s not saying anything at this stage. So frustrating.😏

Slight tangent, but I got £40 out in cash about three days before lockdown. I wonder if I will ever be able to spend it ;)

I am on a salon's waiting list for an appointment so hopefully I'll get on by say the end of July Sad Actually my hair isn't that bad but it might be by then!

Zoey92 · 26/05/2020 17:58

Hair salons, mobile stylists, beauticians we've all been classed as hospitality, which will open in phase 3.
Hopefully 4th July, as long as government don't change their minds.
Given me plenty time to redecorate salon & prep for all new safety measures i can assure you all we're dying to get back 😂

PilatesPeach · 26/05/2020 18:00

I spent some cash in the machine at Poundland Grin but no where else so far.

Dollywilde · 26/05/2020 18:03

@cologne4711 I got given £20 in a birthday card back in March, it’s still sitting pristine in my wallet. I think it might be the longest I’ve ever held on to the same note!

ScrapThatThen · 26/05/2020 18:04

Do you mean you had a mobile hairdresser around touting for business? I have heard there is a bit of a black market in clandestine haircuts happening.

Bluntness100 · 26/05/2020 18:05

I’m finding it a blinking night mare. I just don’t get why other countries can do it and we can’t.

Then I look at Boris’S head and think maybe that explains it, I’m sure Carrie has rhe box dye out and the kitchen scissors..

OP posts:
EasyLifer · 26/05/2020 18:05

I really hope it's 4th July but it will take them weeks to catch up with backlog, especially if they are only allowed limited numbers in the salon at the same time.

Realistically it may be into August before many of us can get an appointment.

Bluntness100 · 26/05/2020 18:06

Scrap. Yes I did. If I didn’t like my own hairdresser so much I’d have jumped at using her.

OP posts:
HeyChief · 26/05/2020 18:13

So are mobile hairdressers not supposed to be working?
I know a few people who have used them. I’d not really questioned it although I’d thought it was at best a grey area!

Sparklingbrook · 26/05/2020 18:15

I have a mobile hairdresser and she says she's not allowed to yet.
