Are hairdressers still forecast to open on the 4 July?

I think I read they were classed as non essential retail, so was wondering if it would be 15 June.

Not that I’m desperate or anything,,.🤥

Just wondered if anyone on here knew?

Thanks

I thought no hairdressers were meant to be working, I don't think the issue is whether they are salon or mobile, I thought the government viewed them as moderate risk due to proximity of client and stylist during the process.

If you have a decorator in or a cleaner perhaps, they are able to carry out their work at a distance to you. I know some mobile hairdressers are working but I thought they were meant to wait with the rest of the hairdressers until 4th July earliest.

No mobile hairdressers should not be working as social distancing is still in place (well it's ment to be)
I know there is alot of them returning, i only wish i could open my salon back up myself but some of us prefer stick to what we've been told as I'd rather not wait longer 😂

How are nail bars going to cope? They only seem to operate on cash

@HeyChief

So are mobile hairdressers not supposed to be working?
I know a few people who have used them. I’d not really questioned it although I’d thought it was at best a grey area!

Literally a grey area!!

Am desperate for a hair appointment- waiting for my hairdressers to let me know when they are opening their appointment book. I have shopped online for clothes pre lockdown and will continue doing so. Am not keen on actual shopping although looking forward to get a take away coffee and breakfast at our local deli.

Regarding cash, our bin men were delighted to have a tenner each, off DH, as a gesture of thanks.

They did say, "we thought you were coming to complain mate - everyone else has!"

Grin

I’m happy enough dying my own grey areas - although I admit it probably looks a bit rubbish. I did cut my own hair too. A month ago I was desperate to get it sorted, but now it’s grown a bit it’s harder to see the wonkiness!

They can take cash if they want to, it is just that my hairdressing salon has decided not to and it will be card only. Most places seem to be that way now unless you are using a self-service till in a supermarket and even then, it seems to be discouraged.

I’m in Scotland and had an email from my salon saying AUGUST this morning. (Big Aveda salon.) I could weep.

I'm quite happy to wait my turn outside, not have a blow dry, wear a mask ...... whatever it takes to get an appointment in July Smile

I'm going to buy my lovely hairdresser a big bunch of flowers when she opens. She is desperate to start working again.

I was just able to book a wax online at my salon for 9th July 👍 Does your salon have web booking?

I'm not sure I'd bother going if they arent doing blowdries. I love the softness of my hair when the hairdresser does it (about 2-3 times a year!!😂) and cant recreate it at home.
Slight tangent, but I got £40 out in cash about three days before lockdown. I wonder if I will ever be able to spend it ;)
I paid some money from my purse back into the bank.

It is shit for hairdressers though. To be delayed like this. There is clearly ways to make it safe. Other countries are doing it. People still are going to work, or doing video calls, not everyone can do their own hair and grooming for many is important.

Our politicians should know this because they all appear on tv perfectly well groomed,,well apart from Boris that is.

I can’t blame mobile hairdressers, or even salon based ones going mobile. If I was a hairdresser I’d do it in a flash and be working now on good clients. Why Risk loosing your client base. Because the risk is if another hairdresser is available they may just switch. As said I had a lady leafleting my house and she was lovely. If I wasn’t loyal to my own hairdresser I’d have said yes to her in a flash.

I can wait for my hair cut (I rarely got it cut anyway) but I cannot wait for my nail appointment.

My beautician just emailed saying she's planning on 4th July reopening as long as the govt give the go ahead! Grin I feel quite emosh reading her email! She attached Barbicide Covid-19 certificates, I suppose that's something to do with best hygiene practices in the salon.

Well only five weeks to go,,,for those lucky enough to score an appt or find one willing to work in the home (or garden)

Unless the government changes its mind,,,we can but hope..

@Judystilldreamsofhorses oh that’s a bit crap Sad Im also in Scotland and go to a small privately owned hairdresser in the next town to my village with just the owner and one other girl renting a chair working in there, I’m hoping They will be able to open mid July if it continue on the 3 weekly reviews as hairdressers are in phase 3. Of course I’d imagine it all depends on salon size, if it’s in a city or hot spot etc. I live rurally with very little cases/deaths and cannot see any reason for hairdressers to stay closed any longer than mid July in my area. I know for a fact that my hairdresser still hasn’t had any payment from government and I’m sure she isn’t the only one. I need back Sad

My hairdresser will be contacting clients in mid June to arrange appointments in July (all being well). Yippee .... my hair is a shaggy grey mess 😊

Mine is opening their booking soon for appts from 4th July.

I got allocated an appointment in July already because I missed one at the beginning of May.

I messaged my hairdresser on FB and he hadn’t heard when they were planning on reopening. They only used to accept cash payments previously.
Just wondering if hairdressers will be washing hair and doing colours, if we will all be emerging from the salon with wet hair and whether prices will be reduced due to this?

I can’t see why they wouldn’t be able to offer full services or not blow dry your hair. I don’t think there is any suggestion of that.

I always leave with my hair wet as it's very curly and looks awful blow dried (according to MN I'm odd for that and the hairdresser shouldn't let me out like it) so I won't notice a difference. I'm only going to rush for an appointment if I can have it coloured, I'm not bothered about getting it cut at the moment.

Just wondering a previous poster said her hairdresser said her hairdresser would provide masks for customers to wear. So just wondering how they would do a colour and rinse out the colour with a mask on.
