Nicola Sturgeon has stated she will outline a 4 phase plan to ease lockdown restrictions at the briefing today at 12.30.

Do we think a possible ease on meeting up with 1 other person. Really struggling with lockdown now but i 100% know why we're doing it. Any thoughts?

Shocking. Scotland are doing the same as England pretty much.. just slightly later.. maybe Scotland can stop taking the higher ground now 🙄 I’m very anti-Boris but how political one upping this is all becoming is tedious!

Scotland are doing the same because the problem is the same. Scotland are doing it later because the virus spread later up here. It's not about taking any high ground.

BoingBoingyBoing · 21/05/2020 13:18

There is a 10 minute time limit on speeches, so obviously she wasn't going to go into every single detail. The scottish gov website is getting hammered at the moment but the details will be in the publicated documents.

runningpink · 21/05/2020 13:18

I provide childcare (nanny) and desperately want and need clarity on whether I can go back to work. I work for more than one family so would be mixing households and distancing would not be possible in either job.
So frustrating that can’t access the website for some clarity

Peppafrig · 21/05/2020 13:19

Can anyone find the route map online?

TenPenceMix · 21/05/2020 13:21

I've found it, but the page keeps crashing

I'll try and post the rest too

I finally got into the document. All that it says on schools is:

"We are planning
for children to return to school under a blended
model of part-time in-school teaching and
part-time in-home learning. Public health
measures including physical distancing will be in
place. Subject to the evidence and progress of the
epidemic we expect schools to open on August 11."

This new model, will include physical distancing
and significantly reduced class sizes as well as
enhanced hygiene regimes. As a result most pupils
will spend around half their time in school and
half learning at home.

There should be a particular focus on
supporting children at key transition points (e.g.
due to start P1 or S1) which may include some
in-school experience in late June, where possible
and safe to implement, so that they are supported
to take the next steps in their education.

And that's it. Lots of may, might, where possible. Clear as mud.

mrs2468 · 21/05/2020 13:29

I thought in England you can only only see one person from another house hold but Scotland was another house hold as in say both grandparents rather then one at a social distance. I also notice she didn’t say no to gardens but I’d need to read the document to clarify

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/05/2020 13:32

If we're three weeks behind England, does that mean everything three weeks later? (Also thinking about hairdressers - no earlier than 25th July based on no earlier than the 4th in England??)

GoldenOmber · 21/05/2020 13:32

ParentClub has an FAQ on the plans regarding schools/childcare: www.parentclub.scot/articles/reopening-schools-faqs

Question: "How can I balance work with days when my child is not in school? Will childcare be available?"

Answer: "Wider childcare provision will only reopen when it’s safe. At present the Scottish Government is asking employers to be flexible with employees who need to stay at home with their children. Our page on working from home has tips and advice to help you.”

I don't feel like 'tips' are going to cut it here.

SockYarn · 21/05/2020 13:36

And if employers say "we have done March - August of being flexible and now need workers back in full time please" what happens?

Parent Club is a joke.

Sadie789 · 21/05/2020 13:36

Delaying tactics to draw attention to her “leadership”, with an eye on the election next year.

Sadly a lot of people will be suitably hypnotised to believe she’s some sort of Covid Messiah.

Scotland is out and about already anyway.

SockYarn · 21/05/2020 13:42

I wouldn't be surprised if next year's elections are cancelled, given the "national crisis" and all. Hmm

porktangle · 21/05/2020 13:45

www.thenational.scot/news/18454764.blended-learning-become-new-normal-schools-return/

There was an article last night about the blended learning approach being planned for the next academic year. Great in theory. Awful in practice.

porktangle · 21/05/2020 13:46

'Makes 12 weeks of lockdown pale into insignificance'. Cheerful.

Sadie789 · 21/05/2020 13:47

@GoldenOmber

Question: "How can I balance work with days when my child is not in school? Will childcare be available?"

The answer to this from my employer is “work at night”

Which... kind of flies in the face of the airy fairy bullshit on their intranet about work/life balance.

FedHimtoTigers1990 · 21/05/2020 13:51

The meeting of households doesn't state just 1 person. I could take my daughter amd meet up with her friend and mum then whilst adhering to SD?

Still not clear on whether we will be able to get married this year or not Sad

sparkle17 · 21/05/2020 14:07

I can't see anything about whether grandparents can provide childcare.

Still unclear about whether you can drive somewhere for outdoor exercise.

I'm a social worker so will be expected to be doing more under phase 1. But I really need childcare. My husband is not a keyworker so can't get any childcare at the moment. I have 3 children under 5.

Sadie789 · 21/05/2020 14:12

I am hoping private nurseries as businesses will be able to open up earlier or I will not be able to work. Furlough ends 1 June for me (English company).

MH1111 · 21/05/2020 14:13

Surely the utterly brilliant Scottish leader can’t have announced a road map that isn’t crystal clear 🙄

After all her criticism of Boris, maybe she’s found it’s not that easy.

Has she come up with a new slogan too because she didn’t like stay alert?
