Currently building a trampoline single handed. Great fun Confused

That should say attempting to build a trampoline Grin

@Lilac I had a horrible feeling it might be just from the 5 steps thing. Really worried about the last stage seeming to be when there's a vaccine (if I've misunderstood please tell me and put my mind at rest). It's one thing for individuals to hope for a vaccine soon; bit different for the government to gamble the economy on it!

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 14:56

Picadilly tbh I havent read the parts that deal with that.

I was pleased to see they aim to get public transport back to pre Covid levels but I think Sadiq Khan and the unions will trash that as long as they can.

I thought this as soon as Johnson went to hospital- he’s too emotionally invested. He needs to step down.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 11/05/2020 15:11

It all feel like a weird, fucked up limbo, in theory there are changes, in practice not much, just a lot of confusion over what's to come . The increased fines don't seem right to me either considering that there have been fuck ups before.

Common sense would dictate they'll be for big gatherings, parties etc as we're allowed out more anyways. But common sense and what actually happens don't always mean the same thing.

The weirdest thing about the document is the section “ Our plan to rebuild”.

It’s a plan to destroy.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 11/05/2020 18:46

I dont get it.

I know that sounds stupid.

But I just don't get it. I cant see the logic.

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 18:48

Peggy, there’s no logic. I don’t claim to be clever but I’m quite confident about this.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 11/05/2020 18:56

I generally deal with reports full of bullshit at work. Pull out the detail verify it and go from there.

Maybe I am knackered, but I cant really make head nor tail of it. If one if my departments have me something like that I would sending back and telling them it doesnt make sense

CrowCat · 11/05/2020 19:04

Much trouble in my street. We have a large playground locally that people have been respectfully avoiding. After yesterday's announcement people went there to sit and let their kids run about. Two police vans just turned up and moved everyone on. No doubt handing out fines as they went along. But surely people were only doing what Boris said they could?

I rest my case for vague update of guidelines to bring in more money from fines due to misinterpretation.

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 19:10

CrowCat

I think they’re all right to use the play equipment from Wednesday. That’s not a joke btw.

CrowCat · 11/05/2020 19:13

They weren't on the play equipment, it's all taped off and chained up. They were just kicking a ball sitting on the grass etc.

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 19:18

I don’t think sitting on grass is allowed till Wednesday

Also, if they were a group of mixed households with more than two people, that’s not allowed.

Mum got upset earlier when I pointed out the VE Day parties weren’t legal but AFAIK they weren’t. No exemption was issued for the day, only gatherings of two are allowed.

Of course this makes the Clap illegal.

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 19:21

Absolutely agree, the police are moaning about it being unenforceable because they are worried they won’t be able to get fines to stick.

I’m sure the government will issue updates to ensure they can.

I’m sorry to be serious on this thread but I think no one is feeling lighthearted....so just to say, it really is worth complaining vociferously. I’d go for the PM and your local MP. The Coronavirus Act is in place for two years, in effect.

I couldn't say if they they were from different households but we have a majority of non English speaking Eastern European's my my area, all of whom have massive families with aunts uncles cousins and grandparents all under one roof. I would hate to think police moved them on and fined them if they were unable to sufficiently explain their living situation.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 11/05/2020 19:51

Nah, Lilac you're good, they've seriously muddied the waters and made things harder for people in many ways. Not to mention the increased fines and let's face it there will be plenty given for no reason, and it's a pain to appeal.

Apparently Boris is counting on employers to be reasonable when it comes to people going back to work. HA!

And the schools.... fuck knows , that's going to be a complete shambles. Plus the we don't know, we'll see maybe less maybe more we don't know we'll see.

It's sending my anxiety through the roof.

My MP is about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

I need to share a bit of levity amidst the seriousness though. DH asked me to share a photo of his social distancing pizza so there it is.

That pizza isn't 2m apart so he failed the social distancing bit. Grin

ISaySteadyOn · 11/05/2020 19:57

@Smilethoyourheartisbreaking, I agree about the playgrounds. I have thought it was cruel right from the beginning. I maintain that some people are Roald Dahl esque witches who loathe children and were probably quite vindictively gleeful about it.

ISaySteadyOn · 11/05/2020 20:03

@PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock, he meant that the onions should keep people 2 m from us! Grin

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 20:08

The thing is, I don’t like children as you may recall from my Vegetable story....but I’m a human being, so I recognise they are being made to suffer horribly.

If your local MP is useless at least email
Number 10. It’s insanity to throw the future down the toilet the way they are doing. If it’s only the Dementors who speak up, they’ll come across as a majority.

CrowCat · 11/05/2020 20:24

ISay those pizza's look a bit good! I made fake McDonald's bacon double cheeseburgers to reward myself for spending all afternoon building a massive trampoline. They were pretty successful.

Now Boris can shove his play areas up his sizeable arse because DD can finally have fun while she exercises in our garden.

Princess it's all the ifs and maybes and maybe nots that's messing me up too. Anxiety doesn't mix well with ambiguity.

110APiccadilly · 11/05/2020 20:50

What we've done to children is appalling. As it happens I was home-schooled as a child (back before everyone was doing it!) If any home schooling parent had told an LEA officer that their children could only go out once a day and had to stay at least 2m from everyone in case they got ill, I'm reasonably sure social services would have been contacted. But now it's ok to make all children do it?

CrowCat · 11/05/2020 20:57

Piccadilly that's a great point. I homeschooled my eldest 2 DC and now I homeschool DD2, out of choice because that's what I always intended when I had kids. Social interaction is massively important, in fact it's part of our curriculum!!

CrowCat · 11/05/2020 20:59

It actually really got my back up when people started saying oh lockdown won't be any different to normal for your DD, like I keep her closeted up inside and away from other kids! Without even having a clue what proper homeschooling entails (no offence to those who are having to do it now!!)
