Someone’s letting off fireworks, weird.

Without even having a clue what proper homeschooling entails (no offence to those who are having to do it now!!)

We don't, add in prejudices and stereotypes and some people really don't know!

As you can tell a lot of us are struggling with this version of it, even the ones with an Education background.

I definitely learned homeschooling isn't for me, not that I had any doubts.Grin

crow if they were all living in the same house, the police could easily confirm?

After Teatime With The Plague Committee one of the news people commented that governments are going to find that reducing the lockdown is going to be far harder than imposing it.

Lifting lockdown was always going to be a slow job. Restrictions will be lifted a bit, health satistics will be reviewed. If it goes okay then there will be further lifting of restrictions. If not then restrictions will be tightened again.

I would suspect that Boris' own personal experience is making him cautious. For myself I think that is a good thing. Covid19 is proving to be a very tricky virus. Recovery is slow and not always plain sailing. There have been many incidences of auto immune complications. Children have also suffered from severe immune responses.

If you are interested this article is worth a read:

Some people may be asymptomatic but pass on the disease. For many the disease may be a pretty unpleasant dose of flu. What we dont know are the long term or even short to mid term complications of having had the disease.

And for a bit of good news, a reliable anti body test looks like it will be available soon:

Ooh, can I join? I went to Waitrose AND Boots today so must have killed millions [preens]. Also, planning to join neighbourhood outdoor keep fit class next Saturday! I'll let you have the details, if you slip me a couple of loo rolls or some strong flour Wink

Peggysgettingcrazy · 11/05/2020 22:57

Can't wait for the anti body test.

I am fairly sure I had it instead Feb. Still not got my sense of smell or taste back.

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 22:57

MrsCat - pretty please can I ask a favour?

Would you be able to find out how that outdoor class is allowed? I honestly don’t get how it fits with the law.

Wowthisisreal · 11/05/2020 23:20

Hey Team, had to see I'm not the only one lost by new regulations etc...

So I can see my mum in the Park... and then she can walk away and I can see my dad in the park. But I can't see them both in the park... even though they will see each other after because they are in the same household. And my DS definitely can't come even though j will go straight home to him...

WTAF?

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 11/05/2020 23:22

Oh no penguin hope tomorrow you're in a better mood . Try not to actually kill anyone... due to lockdown we can't offer you an alibi.

Does it have anything to do with you raging yesterday morning? Or was that someone else?

I think yesterday's announcement has put us all on edge by the sound of it. I'm just gonna carry on doing what I've been doing all along. Which is to say if I feel like meeting DD1 in town then I will. I'm organising something with DS but his neighbours are avid curtain twitchers so we might have to rethink. My mum will only speak to me through the door when I drop off a few bits of shopping for her and I can't see that changing no matter what Boris says going forward. Lockdown has truly terrified some people.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/05/2020 00:03

@Wowthisisreal

Yep, socialising is a one on one activity (from a distance) now, unless you work with them then can be hundreds, or a funeral, then it’s 10. Pretty clear eh!

You can do a tag team though, take DC, have him spend time with DF (with distance) while sitting on a bench or sunbathing, while you do the same with DM. Then swap over. It’ll be like speed dating only for family connections instead!

My family live a few hundred miles away so I’ve adopted a grandad while walking the dog today, he was sat on a bench having a smoke (I know it’s not Wednesday yet but didn’t report him). He said his wife is isolating but he needs to get out and she knows he smokes but doesn’t approve, so he normally takes a short walk to have one. He was happy he’ll be able to have more than one a day now. He had a play with my dog and told me he’s normally there around 3 if I fancy a chat (I will most definitely be there at 3 each day now!!)

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 00:05

Crow “ I'm organising something with DS but his neighbours are avid curtain twitchers so we might have to rethink”

Do his neighbours know you?

You’re allowed to work as a cleaner. If they don’t know you, he can say he’s got a cleaner in.

CrowCat · 12/05/2020 00:19

Lilac I'd be turning up in a taxi with my 9yo so probably not look like a cleaner! He got reported because a mate dropped him a washer off a couple of weeks back, and he was in a little white van clearly delivering something!

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 01:00

Crow someone called the police for that?

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 01:03

Something else about the so called rules

The more mad they get, the more people will bend them

My best mate lives in a flat in a tiny house conversion. One set of neighbours seems to have left for lockdown and the others are new, so haven’t seen me.

So it’s occurred to us I could be a cleaner.

As per other threads, still a very grey area whether we can use London transport for non work reasons.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/05/2020 01:19

@lilac it’s been stated that we shouldn’t use public transport of any kind for non essential reasons. So yes you should use it if you need to work, or to care for an elderly or vulnerable relative, that is completely reasonable. I personally wouldn’t use it to visit a friend though, as much as I’m happy to joke about frothers, it is light hearted joking on here, we are all still aware the risks exist. We do joke about non existent rulez, but I do think using public transport to visit a friend is actually a pretty good rule right now to stick by

I think we need to see this is a balance right now, we follow social distancing as much as possible. But we can get out and about a bit more in open spaces to exercise or relax, if we can do so safely. Like driving to a park or preferably waking to one, and we can do so more than once a day (from Wednesday)

I personally wouldn’t get on a bus or train unless I really had to, I think these are places which are hard to keep clean and protect the spread of infection

I would rather though just joke about the Menz, and the far fetched rulez :)

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/05/2020 01:23

Or to food shop I should have added

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/05/2020 01:25

This did make me laugh though! 😂

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 01:26

pigeons I don’t give a stuff about opinions or risk

Only the law.

I wander off when the Menz jokes begin because I find them boring. Horses for courses.

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 01:27

I’ve always been Sheldon or Niles about cleanliness.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 12/05/2020 01:31

@lilac I’m just trying to keep this thread a bit lighthearted. There are lots of other posts for serious discussions about the law. This was a fun place to rant about frothers and made up laws, or to have a personal meltdown and a break from the real world. But if you don’t give a stuff about my opinion I’ll bow out now

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 01:35

Pigeons effectively telling me off for wanting to use public transport to see a friend, is not trying to turn the thread light hearted.

You stay; I’ll stick with the other thread.

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 01:36

Pigeons “ or to have a personal meltdown ”

I guess you missed my suicidal phase or just fancied giving a moral lecture anyway.
